Wait, doesn't that match Wii sales for the same period?

The wii is a beast on its own.

Hmmm, only 300k for L4D? bummer. I guess the majority got it on Steam/PC.

I wonder how many 360 titles were top 10.

Thanks for cross-posting the same 'article' you linked to on joystiq!

L4D will sell around 300,000 in November, but another 300,000+ in December by word of mouth. seriously. this should reach the million mark by January.

You have a point. I got L4D and enjoy paying with friends mostly. It is not as fun playing with random people (it can be if they are all cool). I have told about 6 people to buy it so we can play and so far 2 have.

Not nearly long enough for the $60. Not enough replay value. Fun as hell, but I don't see it going anywhere.

I disagree with Jason to a point.

The enjoyment of the game is as long as a player wants it to be. I don't see it as a typical game that has a campaign that you can zip through.

Is that worth 60 dollars? to some people sure. I know i'm getting my money's worth with the game. I've had many hours of fun with it already.

I would pay 400-800 Microsoft Points for an additional 2-3 levels.

Huh.. so the 360 is not the hub of casual games, eh?

IMO, it has the most diverse portfolio of the 3 consoles.

I'm curious as to what MS has in store for 09.

Guitar Hero *might* be reaching mass market peak?

In other news, the Pope *might* be Catholic. Anecdotally, I'm the only serious gamer among my group of friends, who range in age from mid-twenties to about forty. Every single one of them has played a Guitar Hero or Rock Band game. That includes the majority of them that don't even own a console.

'Peak' means its sales number is going to decline soon.

I was wondering the same thing. I was tired of waiting to get into Gears matches and considering getting COD5. I put in COD4 and tons of people were still playing multilayer. I didn't like COD4 single player and assuming I also won't like COD5 single player... I may only get it because my friends are.

wasn't it the EXACT same message being said LAST Xmas?

"Xbox 360 doomed in 2008. Where are the games?!"

"2008 year of the PS3"

Those where the headlines..

and boy were they dead wrong.

2009 will be another fantastic year, for any any console.

800,000 is NO surprise to me.

3 competitive price points; 199, 299, 399... all for a different gamer/style.

Tons of new games for this season alone, and a strong lineup from pre-autumn makes this a very green 360 xmas. :)

The guy who wrote this article is an idiot...

His article says, "it will have to raise prices on Arcades to cover the cost of a recent hardware upgrade."

and links to another article for proof of a hardware upgrade that says, "Apparently, the console's new design means it's cheaper to manufacture, which is part of the reason Microsoft was able to slash 360 prices back in September."

I'm really sorry to see Mirror's Edge doing badly.
I know it wasn't received too well by the game critics but I really do urge people to go out and at least rent the game.

I really enjoying it now, about half way through it.
Really would like to see a sequel.

That was my first thought after reading this. I've only played the demo and really enjoyed it, but because it has limited replayability, I didn't want to buy it. It IS on my rental list, though.

I just hope EA doesn't give up on original IPs. I think Mirror's Edge and Assassin's Creed would both see vast improvements in potential sequels.

If it concentrated towards being about free running it would have faired better, but instead it turns into a shooter, and not a very good one at that.. the wide areas, later become corridors, it just feels they got a bit bored by about the 3rd level.. cops shooting you over whatever, 2 punches hurt you more than 3 or 4 bullets.. they always treat you as if you have a gun.. the AI is just stupid, blocking heavy attacks with just a raise of the arm (seems to be based on timing but it looks stupid), it's like kicking the terminator sometimes..

Sales SOAR ? YEP. A friend was telling me that he had to que for over an hour and a half for an X-box 360 on Saturday. That's in Ireland.

On a mad sales note: Shopppers in the UK spent £13 BILLION in ONE DAY last week. And they say there's a credit crunch.
