While the PSP may be suffering from a drought of UMDs worth your holiday dollar, Atari's Phil Harrison is convinced that Sony's sexy portable remains a "very vibrant platform," at least when it comes to downloadables. Despite a lack of PSP titles in its upcoming catalog, Eurogamer reports that the former Sony exec is "looking to explore" the platform's digital goodies down the line.
Hardly a shock, especially given Harrison's notion that kids of tomorrow will turn their noses up at the idea of owning physical media. However, without any of those big-budget, single-player games to fall back on we doubt we'll be busting ghosts or assaulting Dark Athena while waiting for the bus any time soon.

While I'm not at all interested in full, downloadable console games...doing so on a portable makes a bit more sense to me.
Now where's my downloadable levels for Downstream Panic? It's in the instruction manual, dammit! Give!

They should release the actual game on the PSN and then release the DLC alongside. I was never able to find the game on shelves anywhere, so I'm hoping they put it up for download.

Physical media for the PSP at least IMO is not desirable. The large size of the UMDs compared to the DS' cartridges and especially the disc reading gets very annoying. When I had used my PSP for the couple of games I bought, I ripped them to the memory stick and not hearing the grating disc read sound during loading scenes was such a pleasant change. Of course UMDs have a much larger capacity than DS cartridges but I'm happy I can play them on a memory stick, get the best of both worlds.

Perhaps Harrison means they intend to make it vibrate?

Well, it makes sense to go the digital way, I mean, Apple didn't make their money by including a CD Tray for the iPod, did they?

Anyone who downloads games is an idiot.
Anyone who downloads games for a handheld should be sterilised and/or castrated.
DLC is simply about *control*, not convenience.
FUCK Atari. They're not getting a cent from me unless I have a real disc in my hands.

I like downloadable games. I've got enough pretty looking boxes from the last 15 years of gaming up my shelf already, I'm not one of these new kids who just wants boxes on display and is upset because them days are coming to an end.
Good move atari dudes keep this download momentum going.

Should be downloadable Iphone and PSP as well as live, VC and home games. Dont sell yourselves short atari.
Dont just go for the shrinking PSP market so with growing markets.

Down load PSP Games For Unlimited Entertainemt And Ecstacy. A look ahead to some of the great games coming out for the PSP in 2009. Most of those games are high-class RPG titles including Kingdom Hearts, Star Ocean, Phantasy Star and Final Fantasy. Another indie game sneaks to XBLA, PSP, and DS. http://psp-games-downloadss.blogspot.com/ & http://allpspgamesdownloadpspgames.blogspot.com/
