Fable 2 design lead departs for Quake Wars dev
Lionhead's headcount is down by one as Fable 2 lead designer, Richard Ham, has left the company to take on the role of creative director at Splash Damage, the UK-based developer of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. Ham, who has worked on games such as The Movies and the first two Syphon Filter titles on PSone, will head up development of an as-of-yet unrevealed action game for his new employer.
In a Q&A on Splash Damage's site, Ham talks about his fondness for the original Syphon Filter, calling it his favorite project he's worked on – and it sounds like he's working on something similar now. Speaking about his new project, he said that "what Splash is doing is so cool, I just couldn't turn down the offer," adding, "In fact, there's a lot in it that's similar to what I wanted to do in Syphon Filter 3, back when it was going to be a PS2 launch title, but that I never got the chance to do. So I couldn't turn down the chance to be involved." So ... Funnel Strainer?

That is what happens when kids start drinking alcohol at an early age...

I'm still convinced The Movies has huge potential if Microsoft would redo it with better marketing.
Moggeh @ Dec 8th 2008 10:27PM
Yeah, the Movies was an awesome game.
The best part was making the most ridiculous movies with friends and watching it take the game 5 years to film...
Haggard @ Dec 9th 2008 12:57PM
I think they did that.. they put "You're in the" on the front of it and put it through an awesome-removing filter.
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Dec 8th 2008 8:11PM
Are you sure is the alcohol? Huh I thought it was idiocy.
(I love how some things never change like Joystiq intrusive ads except that instead of seeing a somehow cute hummingbird now I see Ozzy freakish face all over my screen, is like watching a bad screamer)
The Dark Wayne @ Dec 8th 2008 8:12PM
God, I have no idea what you are saying jajaes

Talking about a Fable 2 I think it was one of those games that are really good in the beginning but they disappoint right by the end. I never understood the critics until I finished the game.
I was just about to put Fable 2 right with Neverwinter nights in the list of Epic role playing games (I know is not even as deep as the usual RPG, lack of character customization yada yada) right when I finished the 3rd quest but then after 30 minutes I reached the ending (You have to love how all the decisions you took in the game won’t affect the outcome, you can be an evil bastard all the time and even so you can access to the “good” ending)
Seriously Lionhead the second quest feels like it is half of the game but the ending is just about what a 1/10 or something. Oh yeah and the Epic boss battle at the end , I’m still waiting for that one(This must be the only game where you can only fight 3 types of creatures Hobbes, humans and undead but there are no friggin dragons).
TL,DR: Good not great, too short, autosavings can ruin the game from time to time and endings 1 and 3 suck.

Fable II SPOILERS:
I liked the ending :/ It didn't need a huge boss battle. It was simple. And that was good. Plus Reaver stole my kill.
And what makes endings 1 and 3 suck? Everyone plays it differently. If you want to be an explorer, choose Love and keep your dog. If you wanted to buy property and become a tycoon - gold. If you wanted to focus on the games social aspect and earn the praise of Albion, you'd choose Sacrifice.
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Dec 8th 2008 8:48PM
MOAR FUFLING SPOILERS.
Not really you see the rewards in ending 1 and 3 are either rmoney or love but the thing is that Albion is a city made of pure gold where people get gold for just sitting there, in fact they have so much money they friggin bury it so the 3rd ending is just disappointing. What 1M of gold, big deal I can get that in a couple of hours (Oh yeah everybody hates you if you choose this ending but see below).
Love well the thing is that it seems the hero have this ability that makes its farts irresistible (Also puppets) so gaining popularity is even crappier not to mention that the only thing you see is what a couple more of NPCs?
The 2nd ending at least you can have your dog which dead was pretty gratuitous (Fo’ real) but at least you can have it back.
Another thing is what happened to the friggin cinematics, wassup with that? For example I made a Legal Evil character (Contrary to my usual chaotic good character in well every other RPG) and I was expecting a cinematic of my Anti Hero conquering earth or something but no you just appear in the game again.
The battle with Lucien was really pathetic I just blew his head off (I was planning to go all Palpatine on his ass using lightning but well)
P.S: At least my character looked exactly like I wanted kinda like the Lich King. Weird most of the time I did all the good missions and even so I managed to keep him on the Legal Evil side so I guess in that department the game is okay.
finnith @ Dec 8th 2008 10:33PM
I agree with Mr ESC., it seemed like the endings didn't really have much of an effect on the game world since two of the three things (people and money) are never in short supply in Albion.
Pedobear @ Dec 9th 2008 12:31AM
I also agree that Fable 2 felt really lackluster. There was hardly any character development or depth, the story was severely lacking and the ending was very anticlamatic. I mean, the guy kills your sister and your whole point of the game is to stop him, but at the end you just shoot him a couple times and its gg. Rather than my character wasting years and years of his life why didn't he just do that in the first place? The game was very disappointing.
bjbrains @ Dec 8th 2008 8:40PM
I spy blind fanboyism from jajaes. That or drug abuse, it's hard to tell the difference at times.
DeoWulf @ Dec 9th 2008 5:21PM
Only reason I called spam was because he's posted this same (unrelated) comment elsewhere. Makes sense, eh?
And no, I don't own a Playstation 3, nor do I intend to in the near future. I have no stake in your little fanboy war. I just think you're ridiculous.
