I sure hope this game sells some PS3s.
I recently got a 360 (had my PS3 since June) and the thing about PSN is nobody is on there to play with. I feel like I need to do the convincing for Sony when my friends ask why they should get a PS3. Meanwhile, I fire up the 360 and there are friends from college that I didn't even consider "gamers" waiting for me on Xbox Live.

Really? I'm a PS3 fanboy, and I was sorely disappointed in those screenshots. What is that, Quake 4? Where's the mind boggling visuals we were promised? It looks just like any other FPS to me.

The visuals are standard issue of what's expected these days. Meaning, they are pretty good at getting the job done. I'm more interested in getting my hands on it and seeing how it plays. The first person cover mode sounds interesting for an FPS. Usually it switches to 3rd person like that awful Perfect Dark Zero.

I agree w/ reyes. Almost everyone I know has a 360, but I only know 1 guy with a PS3. I don't think Killzone 2 will be a system mover. I'm waiting for Sony to tout the multimedia capabilities of the system rather than hyping software. I think R2 was better than Halo 3, but trying to explain that to the masses who have been drenched in the Halo hype for years. These days selling is about value. If people could see the video storage in action they'd be very impressed. While the web browser kinda sucks, it's still functional and a feature lacking on other systems.

That's your fault bro. Every game you play online with people, you can pull up the "People Met" list on the far right top of the XMB. You can even do this while in-game. Now just start inviting people to be your friend.
90% of the time people will accept.
Once you get friends from games you play in your list, problem solved.

If you don't have anyone to play with its really your problem. IMO its allot easier to make friends on PSN since you don't even really need to be in games to meet people. Home takes care of that. With xbox live you have to A. Have a game to meet people in and B. Pay a yearly fee.

i think the point is that nobody HE KNOWS is on PSN. i have a few PSN friends but they're all people i've met in game. i have 1 friend i know in real life. quite frankly i don't give a shit about the people i don't know in real life - their presence online doesn't give me incentive to play.

My motivation for getting me 360 was the same issue. However my friends suck and shortly after I got mine we went from having all night LIVE gaming nights, to just a few hours...to an hour...to most of my RL friends not even touching their machines anymore.
So I say don't discount making friends online because they can help when life takes your RL friends out of the gaming picture.

The thing is, while the textures and effects are top notch, its so much else, especially the lighting and charracter animation which are beyond anything I have seen in a movie, sorry game. And if impressions from the multiplayer beta are anything to go by, the gameplay is peerless as well.
And for all those worried about the sales for this game (obviouslly the same ones who claimed the graphics wont be good, then said that the AI will suck, etc and got repeatedly killzowned by GG) - dont worry, it will sell. And even if it doesnt sell as much as generic, crappy 640p Halo 2.5, who acsres? All I know is that it will be a blast playing this game, just like R2 coop (the most fun I have had this year, the servers are always full and I havent seen the same player twice in almost 200 rounds despite its allegedly low sales)

i h8 fanboys... this game looks the best game ever eny one with a brain no;s that it makes gears look crap . but i still like gears ... i own both consels ... for me n my opion 360 was the best but ps3 is starting to beat 360 now

I think some of these pics are old. Anyway, I've never been very impressed with KZ2 screenshots; other than some nice art direction, they look pretty much the same as other shooters. KZ2 video, on the other hand, is very impressive. Its only in motion that you see the attention to detail and great animations of the game. IMO screencaps don't do the game justice.
As for PSN, I'm not sure why people complain, I see a ton of people on. I'm currently playing R2 and LBP and there's never a shortage of people.

ummm, guys this game is going to be awesome! No worries, the game looks a whole lot better in motion... i mean those high res screens aren't even showing you most of the quality... Andrew been saying that the preview code they've got just has just improved on the visuals and with more enemies on screen.

I'm thinking the same thing. I never played the original but picked up KZ for the PSP and it was a blast to play online and there were always people playing.
After seeing all the screenshots and the recent videos, it will be a day one purchase, no doubt.

I LOVED killzone 1, and Liberation.
This game is going to rock. The only thing that will hinder sales is the fact that so many stupid parents have bought their children cheap Xboxes rather than a high value PS3.
Shame that.
For those of us smart enough to get a PS3 we are going to have hella (ghast) fun on this one!
