New games this week: Persona 4 edition

You may be familiar with classic children's book Tight Times, which depicts a family in a financial struggle. Even if you're not familiar with the book itself, you'll at least recognize the subject matter, especially after you check out the scraggly, scrowdy-row crop of titles filling our game account this week. We didn't forget to list the 360, there just aren't any. Yeah. Tight times.

But, as no one says, in the land of Slingo Quest, the Persona 4 is king. Congrats, little guy, you (sort of) earned it.

One of my most anticipated of the year, definitely picking Person 4 up this week.

Same here man. Already got my copy pre ordered.

Yup, me too... been waiting for P4 since I preordered back in September. I lost interest in Fable 2 and Fallout really quickly, so P4 has perfect timing.

I should be done marathoning it sometime in early March, I estimate, based on my time spent on P3.

yay!!! games that suck. my wallet needs the break.

I just picked up P3:FES (and Kingdom Hearts RCoM) this past weekend. Haven't had time to touch it yet, but it's on the list. Depending on when/if I get to it, P4 might be worth a look.

Beyond that, I think we're mostly in the clear for games until January.

Ok, tons more Fable 2 it is!

Ahhhh, I can finally focus on Banjo: NaB, finishing COD: WaW on Veteran (on the last level which is hard as fuck), Gears 2 Insane Co-op and MP goodness! I got QoS 007 coming in this week from GF and I heard its quite short but thats a good thing.

Moar Horde mode!

Forgot about StreetFighter II Turbo HD Remix! It is the shizzz and theres some tuff competition online. Well worth 1200pts IMO.

I sure as hell am glad I don't feel the need to buy any titles this week. Maybe I can get through one of the 20+ games I have that I have either barely touched or not unwrapped yet. Damn this is an expensive hobby - we are all nuts!

SSF2THDR? Online? Tough?

That's being nice, it's insane, I'm not super at the game, but I'm decent, but the amount of time I've gotten my ass kicked with barely being able to get one hit it...

But the game is awesome, one of my favorite games this year.

And to think all I had to do to get it was trade a spare Home beta invite for it.

Yeah you have to be pretty good to get some W's online. Theres a lot of good comp and theres also a lot of cheap move spammers (which I despise, Vega I'm looking at you) but I still got my Win 100 Online Ranked Matches achievement yesterday. :)

I'm sitting on a 100W 94L record lol. Not too bad...

Surprised at the (so far small amount of) Persona 4 hate. It may be a PS2 game, but the SMT franchise hosts some of the most interesting jRPGs out there.

I've become addicted to SMT games lately. I've gotten my hands on a new copy of Digital Devil Saga and Nocturne too. I heard Nocturne was a rare game to come by too. So far, both games are really awesome.

Joystiq rule #3: If you don't like a game, it's conclusive proof that a game sucks. You must also insert comment about your wallet (Or pretend it's not your parents' wallet).

I just bought Symphony of the Night on XBLA and Skies of Arcadia on eBay so I'm fine for now.

what about PSN games? Astro Tripper will be out Thursday, I hear it's an awesome atypical shmup.

Yeah, I know, I just didn't know they don't include them on the New Games This Week feature. I can understand having a separate list for PSN and XBLA updates, since the lists are huge and full of demos, themes and videos, but I think they should include the games here too. After all, they are new games coming out this week right?

I am so picky >.

I'm hoping no good games come out for the 360 until early March 09. I just can't afford anything right now.

alright, freaking finally... i surpressed the urge to not get fable 2, fallout 3, tales of vesperia or any of the other crazy fall releases just for this game. i took some extra time off before the christmas japan trip to spend exclusive on the game too. can't wait.

I won't be leaving my house for a month once P4 is in my possession.

Between FES, Blue Dragon, Chrono Trigger, and now P4....I've got a long queue of RPGs to get through.

Thankfully I don't have anything on my plate (reserve wise) once I get P4.

"Sort of" earned it my hairy brown ass. I've been eagerly anticipating Persona 4 all year, possibly more than any other game.

Games of the Year: Valkyria Chronicles and Persona 4 (I don't care that I haven't played P4 yet; it's just not that hard to see how good it's going to be).

I'm getting really anxious for P4. I pre-ordered and Amazon emailed me yesterday saying my copy shipped. I pre-ordered the strat guide direct from the publisher, DoubleJump, and they mailed it several days early. I got my copy on Monday Dec 1st and it's been sitting, mocking me, from across the living room.

Maybe RPG of the year. I'm still giving Game of the Year (and possibly FPS and online Game of the Year) to Left 4 Dead. Leave it to Valve to release a game in November and have it receive critical acclaim.

how dare you take Valve's name in vain? Blasphemy!

It would be good to see a game console stay on the market just because people have bought it and they don't want to buy a whole new console (wii maybe?) but i still wish this game had come out for newer ones since by this time most people have the current gen.
