Q Entertainment: Meteos Wars showers XBLA this Wednesday

We're not saying Q Entertainment's Xbox Live Arcade release of Meteos Wars isn't coming out on Wednesday – after all, the website right here assures us that it is – but we are saying this: It's not official until Microsoft says so. (The more astute amongst you may recall that Q told us back in August to expect the block puzzler in October and look where that got us.)
If the stars align, expect Meteos Wars to cleave the heavens this Wednesday for 800
(that's $10 Earth bucks).[Update: Microsoft has officially announced Meteos Wars as part of this week's XBLA release lineup.]

My first DS game!

I don't know, I think the stylus control made it much more fun. I'll still give the demo a shot, but I'm probably more likely to pull out the original and go with that.
Anyone who doesn't already have a DS should check this out, though.

What John said.

I wonder if we will have to buy all the different options like Lumines...
"Thanks for buying the game but if you want to play it, that's another $10!"

Hoo boy... This is going to be quite a bit more difficult without stylus control...

Yeah, I'm wondering how they have adjusted the game for a standard controller Meteos was just so fast on the DS.

I don't think control will be a problem if they use the same dual-analog controls that were in Poker Smash. Those controls worked very well for the same kind of block manipulation that's in Meteos.
If they use a single stick with A to select though, yeah, it'll be rough.

How did that work again? I played the game, but it's been quite a while. I don't remember the controls.

Left stick controlled the cursor, while the right stick controlled where the selected block/card moves. A simple control scheme, but as has been said, Meteos moved fast enough that a controller-based setup might run into a problem on certain levels.

I read somewhere that Meteos does use the 'Cursor with one stick movement with the other' control scheme.
Plus if you watch the videos, the blocks move too fast for someone to be selecting them.

Man, I love me some Meteos. On the bus, on my lunch break, while taking a lengthy griffin ride in WoW...
But on the 360? I dunno, it sounds a little hard to image the gameplay on an analogue pad.

I thought this was Pokémon Puzzle League for a second
