Country's not my cup of tea, but I'm all for variety. Besides, Rock Band is best with friends, and all my friends LOVE country music.

So, really, I need to get new friends.

Are any of these likely to be fun to play and musically interesting?

Asking here is quicker than spending half an hour watching youtube vids >:D

YES! These are all great songs...well I can vouch for miranda lambert, brad paisley, and dierks bentley. Not really into dixie chicks though.

The guitar solos seem like they will be very difficult and fun!!!

I can't wait

Sin Wagon has GREAT guitar and drum sections, and the singing will definitely prove to be challenging. Will definitely weed out the good singers.

All of the songs are actually great songs that will prove fun to play. I love country music so I'm bias, but I highly recommend this pack and commend the company for adding this variety to the game!

Should they have called the game ROCK Band if they're going to release country for it? I know, I know, more variety is good, and they already have content that isn't really rock. Still though, they should perhaps consider just calling it 'Band' at this point.

Mercenaries 2 should change it's name because you can buy extra content - Obama and Palin skins - and they're not mercenaries!

You don't just steal cars in GTA...they should change the name to "Grand"

You don't just cry far away in Far Cry 2, they should change the name to "2".

You don't just fall down in Fallout 3, the should change the name to Out 3.

You don't just imagine about babies in Imagine Babyzzz, they should change the name to BABYZZZs

I just mean that the game obviously appeals to people that like more than rock music, and perhaps it's time for it to grow to become a platform for interactive music rather than a game featuring one form of music. Basically, Rock Band should become a media player instead of a game.

It's either downloadable content for Rock Band or they release a whole new $100 game "Country Band" which features a dobro controller and is not compatible with current accessories for a few months, by which time they've released "Jazz Band", "Polka Band", "Marching Band"...

Just eat the DLC and don't complain.

Every other reply to your thread needs to shut the hell up, but from a musical geneology perspective, modern country songs have more in common with rock music than traditional country. A lot of modern country songs are musically indistinguishable from rock already, having shed their folk/gospel/old country roots entirely.

I still hate country as a genre, but there's an easy solution to Country DLC in Rock Band: If you don't like them, don't buy them.

My thoughts are simple. While I may not enjoy a ton of country music, I believe that more people to play games, the better the industry is for all of us. Why could we not take this as testing the waters for "Country Band"?

More people that play means more songs to be purchased. More song purchased means more bands to jump on the bandwagon.
More bands on the bandwagon means larger variety.

Larger variety will make us all happy.

Country pack? I guess every bassist needs to start somewhere...

On a serious note, I see no harm in this, as long as they keep it to DLC. The second I hear of on-disc country for RB3, when there are still so many great rock acts yet to be represented, there'll be hell to pay.

Yup, just proves a point about country music.

Hillbilly Deluxe sounds like a good choice, and am only otherwise familiar with Mud on the Tires, but there are far better country choices out there that would satisfy even the "It's ROCK Band" people (even by the same artists - Boot Scootin' Boogie anyone?).

The biggest issue with them releasing country music is the wasted time and effort. They could've devoted their energies into any number of bands that are far more deserving. How much Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa, King Crimson or Queen do we have?

I'll take Mute Math DLC over this twangy boring poppy garbage.

Because they have no interest in those bands at all, right? They're either working on securing as many bands as they can get or the band doesn't want to work with them (like Led Zep). Its not THEIR faults.

And honestly, I hate country music, but I wouldn't go as far to say its GARBAGE.

As a reformed country music fan (8 years clean and off the twang wagon) I'm surprised they picked such oddball tracks to introduce the genre.

I assumed there would be at least one Garth Brooks track in the initial salvo of country releases.

I don't like country music that much, but there is no doubt that some country music artists are excellent musicians. Just for their skills I'd say some should be included. Heck, even Dolly Parton is one hell of a guitarist, as good as any metal rocker.
