I want to be excited for Home like I was for the NXE, but I'm just not. And people here are saying that they were forced to go hang out at the mall? Do kids these days still do that? Or is that idea just an indication of the age group working on this project?

I wasn’t expecting a lot for Home and maybe that’s why I like what I see so far.

True there’s lots of room for improvement, but Sony did say this will be an ever evolving space.

A couple of spaces, Far Cry and Sulleys Bar aren’t there anymore after 1.0 update, but I think when Home does go Live they’ll be back as well as other spaces (they have to have some surprises for everyone).

Socom headsets work really well now (PS3 eye and other headsets seem to also work ok).

I also think the more friends you have in Home, the more you appreciate it as it’s a way of chatting with them instead of texting them.

To me it’s just a good social network, place to gather and discuss like interests, gaming and play a game of Warhawk, pool, bowling, chess, etc (darts were great too, but that was in Japan Home).

I think the region travel should be brought back, although it is available in private spaces, it was much better when we could just go to a friend in another Home region.

All in all I would give it about a C + to B - rating and see what comes next.

I’m giving them a chance with this.

Also remember, there is no need to use the application if you don’t want to or don’t think it worth your while, but let others that do appreciate it, use the tool.

It's so sad: the obvious amount of "xbots" an article like this attracts.

Is the xbox experience really so lame that you find it more entertaining to make fun of other consoles or do you have nothing to do after the machine redringed?

Sony fanboys are just as bad, perhaps even worse...

Fanboyism in general, though, is moronic.

Really? Worse? I don't wander too much, tell me a real horror story.

Was there an infestation of Sony Fanboys on xbox articles when xbox debuted their new avatar thing? Were they talking about completely different games and trying to tear apart really good titles like Gears2?
That's sad too. I hardly have enough time to keep up on the news about systems I play on.

I like Home better than the avatar systems for Wii & 360 but only because it's kind of like another game: a non violent GTA. Still, they're going to need more server space (we have problems getting on now) and quick and easy ways for my wife to silence pathetic virgins in heat while she's occupied. Now she has to wait for her pool/chess game to be finished before muting and reporting them.

Why did you have to ask me fro a story? :( I can't think of specifics, I usually switch off.

The most significant thing I can think of though is the whole RRoD thing. The Sony breed love to bleat on about how bad the 360 is because of this, yet refuse to accept that the PS2 was much worse as it had the tendency to break with Disc Read Error just outside of warranty (at least MS extended the warranty purely for their problem).

There's also a lot of flak about paying for XBL. While I admit I'd rather pay nothing, I am actually happy to pay for such a well-maintained online service which is by far the most stable console network available. It's not like I'm paying their extortionate annual fees though, not when you can get those 13-Month membership cards dirt cheap if you simply look around a little.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not here to defend Microsoft and put down Sony - I like, and own, both consoles. It just annoys me when all I see is fanboy drivel where sensible gaming discussion should be.

I'd ask why people have to be such asshats, but then, we are on the internet.

I was just wondering if there was an epic scale dbag that stood out from the crowd. But yes, I too scan ahead when I smell the stink of unwashed trolls.

I can understand, I actually avoided the 360 because of the rrod but I also avoided the ps2 for the longest time because of their disc read problems you mentioned. I actually didn't get one until the slim had been out for a while and they fixed the problem.

The ironic thing however is that I have had to replace my ps3; so it doesn't exactly have a 0% fail rate either.

However the main reason I went with the ps3 this gen is because I just got a hdtv and Bluray then won the format war. Also, it has those weird (pixel junk, echocrome, LBP) games my wife & I are partial to.

Dont get me wrong there are things I envy about the 360 too though: being able to play your own music over any game (sony has something similar provided the publisher enables it which they hardly ever do) and the consumer development kit (I forget the actual name) which is a really cool idea that probably leads to some pretty cool games.

Ah, the XNA. I've not tried any of the games made through that, but I imagine they could be half-decent (I used to enjoy the Net Yaroze games bundled on the Official Playstation Magazine back in the day).
