You know all of those ridiculous, hateful things that others say about Nintendo and its products? Well, unfortunately, one of them is true: Wii Play owes its success to the Wiimote that is tethered to each copy of the game. Wii Sports is an amazing game that might still be the best example of what the Wii represents. It's inarguably the most recognizable title of this generation and has managed to carry Nintendo on its shoulders like no other game since the original Donkey Kong. And like the imitators that follow any type of successful media, Wii Play is trying to tail-gate its way into gamers' homes. What's worse about this particular title is that unlike the vast amount of imitators, Wii Play is an authentic Nintendo title.
Perhaps I'm being a bit too hard on Wii Play. It's not as though the game is an abomination to the human race or anything. It's just severely lacking the feel of Nintendo-sanctioned fun. It's minigames that feel as though they were supposed to be tacked onto an abandoned game.
