Did you like Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children? Well, Square Enix is giving you a chance to summon the inner film director in you in their upcoming fighting game, Dissidia. Your fights can be dramatically choreographed and then edited through the in-game replay editor. Watch this example video of Cloud and Sephiroth doing what they do best -- beating each other to a pulp -- to see the editor in action.

They're really putting some effort into this thing, aren't they?

that's because it's going to be the first game worth buying in the pirating world.

GS,
So pirates are like noble predators, weeding out the weak games (which deserve to go bankrupt) and purchasing the truly "good" games?
Let me guess....you prefer FANTASY gaming, right?
Sheesh.
Pirates are petty thieves who steal because its easy to do and carries little risk. I'm quite sure they steal "good" games just as much (if not more) than junky ones.

Pirates don't always discriminate based on quality. It just needs to have the words "Final Fantasy" on the cover and the FF nerds have to buy it immediately to add to their collection. See also: the fact that anyone bought FFI and FFII for PSP.

All they need now is the option to add Linkin Park songs and we're set.

i wonder if youll be able to save the vid to your memory card so you can export it and post it on like youtube or something. that would be kinda cool.
Posted: Dec 9th 2008 12:35AM (Unverified) said
It's been confirmed that you can export saved replays in AVI format.

This really gives a different view, custom replay. :D
If they can take out the summon pictures, would be nice.

they should have a function like being able to download 'ghosts' of other players, or use your own so that battles become more varied and interesting rather than a limited AI ( FF games have never been known to difficult ) I'm actually looking forward to the other characters more...ff7 has grown quite, stale and moldy =D

Dissidia DOES have that feature, you'll automatically download the ghost data of any person that you fight. And i think that you can download other people's ghost data online too, but i;m not 100% sure

that i'll have to agree. it's just a replay, don't see anything pretty bout it. i mean, it's like watching replays on those racing games - just changing camera angles. why is anyone excited about this?
if anything, i'll rather have a more useful feature or sth rather than this.. (shoot me, but i'm a really avid fan of final fantasy. this is just .. reeking of fan service a little too much)

nah, the whole point is to be able to choreograph the fight (say with a friend...) and save it (possibly to show to other friends...), what they were showing there was just an example of the feature in action. i'm pretty sure if two people were to seriously come together and map out a fight (the same way real directors and choreographers do) they could make something pretty sweet to look at that would blow that vid out of the water. i look forward to using/ abusing this feature if and when dissidia comes stateside. and i look forward to seeing some sweet fights. cloud vs squall ftw.

"know how to make good games period"
They haven't been proving that recently... I know they're a great dev and all, but I'm not enjoying any of their no-effort Squaremakes or games like Crisis Core (which had a good atmosphere and a decent story, but was held back in the end by a lame, button mashy combat system).
