A rip-off of a classic isn't a classic, it's just a rip-off.

Isn't it a remake of a rip-off of a classic? Either way, I'm not getting it.

I am remarkably confused as to how or why this game is considered a classic. If it's just a copy of Mario, then wouldn't that make Mario a classic game? Is it because the C64 didn't have many games or many platformers? Is it because it was Mario for the PC back when nerds - REAL nerds - still roamed the lands?

Seriously! How does a copy of a game become a classic?!?!?

"Real nerds" being a humorous reference to the bygone era of people having to actually know how to use a computer in order to use it, and not this pansy GUI 'the computer does it for me' nonsense that kids these days seem happy with.

Why is it that everything on a console looks the same? Mario and Megaman. They're both tiny little characters, with little similarities. But they look the same for some reason.

Playstation was the worst of this: Every character looked the same. It was so sickening. It's like they all used the same engine or something.

As for that, it looks just like that weird Island game. Please tell me it wasn't for the same system. ):

God, and do you remember those old text based adventure games? They all used the same letters and numbers. God, I can't believe they got away with that.

Call me crazy but I think it looks more like a rip of Kid Chameleon than Mario. Never the less, its still a shameful ripoff.

For those of us who owned a commodore (Amiga 600 for me) back in the day this is actually a pretty big deal. We all knw the game was a total shameless ripoff of mario when we first palyed it but we loved it anyway. And for an Amiga gamer this is great news, I've been thinking that this should get a sequel for a few years now. I mean it's like a feminist mario, "why should the guys have all the goombastomping, we can do that too".

...Not to mention the fact that the intro screen was the first pixelated babe I ever saw.

You should check out Super Princess Peach on the DS sometime. It's basically a mario platformer exclusively tied to the princess herself borrowing her character physics from Super Mario Bros. 2. However, it's a mixed bag, as you need to exploit her wildly varying emotional state to accomplish certain tasks. (No, I'm not kidding...)

Great Giana Sisters may have been a clone of Super Mario Bros., but it was unique in that it was a GOOD clone. Seriously, it's like the only one I've seen with decent physics, sound, and music, and original graphics that don't suck.
