I don't think I ever saw this game in the stores. Your summary makes me want to rent it. I guessthat is the point of these articles right?

That's definitely part of it. ;) Since it was multiplatform, if you have a GameCube, PS2, Xbox, Wii, PS3, or 360 you can probably pick it up online almost as cheap as you could rent it. Finding it in a real store these days would probably be hard, too. But it's worth playing.

I found it on Amazon;

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00008KTWG/ref=dp_olp_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1228871592&sr=1-2

new is $28 to $51.99
but used was $6.99 + $4 shipping.

I've seen this game (a small videogames shop in my neighborhood had it and ran a demo of it), and I wanted to own it, but I never knew what it was called. Good times.

This game was actually a lot of fun when I played it on the Xbox. I even talked my friends into playing the multiplayer mode a few times back in the day when we needed a break from Halo.

Metal Arms was a freaking awesome game.

It would be awesome if someone ported this to the Wii.

Just do yourself a favor and upgrade your weapons as soon as you can, especially the ripper and autocannon.

I still own Metal Arms for the Xbox 180. It's a fantastic game. Just hard enough to piss you off, but not so hard as to make you give up. The weapons were ahead of their time too.
But I must say, I'd rather see it in HD on the PS3 or 360. There was so much visual detail in the original that a Wii version would seem a poor subsitute for what could be done on the more powerful systems.

Definitely. It appears to be a pretty kiddie game, but it's a lot edgier than you'd expect, and considerably more challenging to boot. And despite how cheery the presentation is, the concept is pretty morbid: it's pretty much droid genocide.

God, I thought this sold really well. Almost all of my friends had it. But then again, I think this might be one of those "PAL saving ass" things, like with No More Heroes. Believe it or not, over in Oz, the 64 outsold the PS1. I was shocked when I saw the global sales figures.

Just my 2 cents though,

Still one of my favorite GameCube games. Only one I believe I still keep around and play. Would love to see a sequel/port to the Wii, and can imagine some gameplay a la the Wii's special functionality.

I thought i was the only person alive who bought this. This is probably my all-time favorite game!! It's unbelievably good. I would write a lot more about it, but I have to go study for finals... boo
