US getting collector's edition Street Fighter IV, too

A day after it was confirmed for Europe, GameStop has listings up for the collector's edition – might we suggest a name change to "Champion Edition" – of Street Fighter IV. PS3 and 360 will each get their own subtle variations of the set, which will sell for $79.99. The retailer is offering those who pre-order the ability to "channel the power of Ryu with [an] official Street Fighter headband." Um, hadouken?
Included in the CE packaging for both platforms will be a soundtrack CD, a voucher for five downloadable costumes, and a Prima hintbook designed in collaboration with SSF2THDR art group, Udon. The PS3 edition will pack a Blu-ray Disc containing a hi-def, 56-minute Street Fighter anime and trailers, plus a Ryu figurine; those who pick up the 360 set will get the same HD flick – minus the trailers – and a Crimson Viper figure. (European CEs include both figures. Grr!)

how bout an arcade stick instead of that other crap.
Freelance @ Dec 9th 2008 3:57PM
My first thoughts exactly,,, and not a hori!
Ghaleon @ Dec 9th 2008 4:28PM
How bout buy or make your own, so people who seriously play SF don't get stuck with a worthless controller destined for eBay a week later.
deddyluger @ Dec 9th 2008 4:57PM
Seems like all the stuff packed in here is worthless. Who the hell would buy this? I'm sure youtube will have all the vids for free. Figurines are stupid. Costumes are for people who play with Barbies.
Nael M. @ Dec 9th 2008 6:23PM
So nobody would be interested in a soundtrack? Or game guide that could teach you advanced game tactics? And surely I'd rather watch the whole anime on my 42" HDTV than on a scrawny YouTube window in multiple parts.
Oh, and the arcade stick would bump the CE's price to $150, easy. SFIV has some hype to it, but it's certainly not to the level that would justify it charging Halo 3 CE prices.
juju187 @ Dec 9th 2008 7:57PM
guess im late to the party,
Jimiisama @ Dec 10th 2008 3:09PM
What's wrong with Hori? It's probably the best stick brand out there.
butaneko @ Dec 9th 2008 3:30PM
Crimson Viper is a robobabe
MowDownJoe @ Dec 9th 2008 10:07PM
She's not a robot. She's just got alot of cool spy gear.
Jack of All Trades @ Dec 9th 2008 3:34PM
No contest, PS3 version hands down. I'll be pre-ordering this one as soon as possible. The Ryu figure does it for me.
Then I have to get one of those MadCatz SF4 controllers (probably the gamepad as the stick just doesn't do it for me - I grew up on the NES and Genesis, not at the arcade because I lived out in the country).
Ben @ Dec 9th 2008 3:35PM
So does PS3 get Ryu and 360 gets Viper (not Chun?!?!?!?!) ? I can't tell. Or does 360 get both figures and just no trailer dvd?
Fernando Rocker @ Dec 9th 2008 3:37PM
Do want!
I have been 360-less since the NXE release day... RRoD...
And I can't find a Jasper Elite... Gears 2, Banjo and Dead Space are there, sitting on the shelf.
I hope I can get my Jasper before the Holiday Bundle ends.
baby sea tuna @ Dec 9th 2008 3:46PM
:(
I was wondering where you'd gone, Fernando.
Fernando Rocker @ Dec 9th 2008 3:56PM
Actually... my 360 got the Error 74 since October. I sent my 360 to the repair center (my 1 year warranty expired in November).
So, I bought Gears 2, Banjo and Dead Space one day before XNE. I updated, and created my avatar and everything... was playing Gears 2, then I wanted to try Banjo. And the picture looked very bad, very blurry. So, I restarted the console and the ring appeared.
So, MS fixed my console again, and I put an add in the newspaper: 360 Elite, with four games (Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Forza 2, Disney Cars and Arcade Unplugged). 350 dlls.
Sold it first day.
But I can't find a Jasper Elite. Just Pro and Arcade Jaspers.
jumpshot @ Dec 10th 2008 9:19AM
Dude! I', so sorry to hear that... the same happened to me...
Cerpin Taxt @ Dec 9th 2008 3:40PM
Well, since I only own the PS3, I lucked out on this one. Ryu and trailers are better than Crimson Viper and no trailers.
Shagittarius @ Dec 9th 2008 3:45PM
Haven't they learned that a CE needs to come in a metal case?
LeChuck @ Dec 9th 2008 3:46PM
Well, I probably won't be getting the Collector's Edition anyway. Otherwise I'd be upset about the figures. I just bought my 360, don't make me start regretting not getting a PS3 instead.
baby sea tuna @ Dec 9th 2008 3:50PM
If a tiny plastic figuring is what has you questioning your 360 purchase, you might as well sell that shit right now.
baby sea tuna @ Dec 9th 2008 3:52PM
*figurine*
NukeAssault @ Dec 9th 2008 3:48PM
Game stop shows both come with trailers... Not that it matters as im getting both. But only one stick... cause then id be pushing it. =P
Jake B @ Dec 9th 2008 3:54PM
Dang I wish I was so tough that I could get two collector's editions of the same game. SIKE! You, are a retard.
NukeAssault @ Dec 9th 2008 4:10PM
Hmm, not following you. Was that supposed to hurt my E-feelings? ='(
(The Award-Winning) dark_inchworm @ Dec 9th 2008 4:39PM
Hey Jake, some people like to... what's the word I'm looking for... oh, COLLECT stuff. I know if I had the money to throw around, I'd have both, given that there are a few differences (which I really hope does not turn into a trend).
Snowblind @ Dec 9th 2008 4:06PM
This is being sold for £70 in the UK, which is double the price you guys are expected to pay for it. I seriously hope that isn't the final UK price, even if both of our versions come with the trailers/movie and figures.
arrrgh @ Dec 9th 2008 4:23PM
2 figurines?!?!!
fuck europe!! you bastids!
capt_carl @ Dec 9th 2008 4:23PM
I'd much rather have a Ryu figurine than that psycho bitch Viper. I also don't care much about the trailers, but that anime makes me giggle.
YO YO its jeff @ Dec 9th 2008 4:26PM
i dont know what to say to this am happy to know we are getting something like this but at the same time confused as to why its broken down in such a way, why can they put both figures and trailers, i mean the trailers are nothing but those figures and collectibles chances are capcom knows that and thats why they did this in the US only?
also anybody know if that soundtrack is a real one or a sample, cause if its just a sample i see no point to to pay for all that extra i could just download it some where if i really want it(hate how Chrono Trigger bonus soundtrack only got 2 songs important ones but still only 2)
xFenixKnightx @ Dec 9th 2008 4:27PM
Buying this day one! It would be nice if they did a midnight launch thingy as well. :)
Love mah Street Fighter games! Also, anyone who is on the fence or curious about SSFIITHDR shouldnt be, its TEH AWESOME!!! The music jams and the graphics couldn't be more gorgeous!
capt_carl @ Dec 9th 2008 4:33PM
Yea it's real epic. I just can't get used to using the 360 controller's shoulder buttons for punches and kicks. I miss my Genesis six-button controller. :(
arrrgh @ Dec 9th 2008 4:35PM
same here
i wanna get an arcade stick so bad
xFenixKnightx @ Dec 9th 2008 4:39PM
This is how I configure my controller when it comes to SF.
Top shoulders are mid punch and kick
X and Y are Jab and Fierce punch
A and B are short and Long kick
Just works better like this for me.
mmxzero @ Dec 9th 2008 4:45PM
On top of tempting me to get the CE of SFIV now, I plan on getting one of those madcatz SFIV gamepads for any and all 2D goodness on my 360. Here's to hoping the d-pad on it turns out great!
xFenixKnightx @ Dec 9th 2008 4:53PM
Yup, already pre-ordered a RYU one off of Amazon. I hope it works well. I'm actually already used to the 360 D-pad, if thats even possible...
mmxzero @ Dec 9th 2008 5:08PM
Yeah, the 360 dpad worked ok for me in SCIV, and havent had too many instances where it got wonky and messed me up, like in bionic commando. Still it's too bad it wasn't released early enough for HD Remix.
Shahryar @ Dec 9th 2008 9:42PM
I had bought Hori Fighting Sticks for my PS3 from Wal-mart in March 2007 randomly for $50 each. I finally got a chance to use them with the new SFII HD but it really wasn't fun. I would prefer the 6 button control pads I had w/ my PS2's SF collector's edition. Or maybe I just need better joysticks.
Jimiisama @ Dec 10th 2008 3:12PM
Sticks are only good if you're used to playing with sticks; if you've always played with pad, then you should probably stick with pad unless you plan on relearning the game with a new controller.
Rentaro @ Dec 9th 2008 7:04PM
So...downloadable costumes already?
Nael M. @ Dec 9th 2008 7:15PM
The Japanese arcade game already has this feature. When you collect enough in-game money from fighting, you can "purchase" alternate costumes that are downloaded to a personal data card that tracks your stats like wins, losses, etc. So this is nothing new for the game.
Mister Servo @ Dec 10th 2008 2:04AM
The two figurine deal is quite disappointing, why wouldn't they just give us the same offer as the Europeans? Lame. Also, Viper is nice and all, but I'd rather have a Ken figure.
