It seems everyone's getting into the Christmas spirit today. First free Santa costumes and now we find out that Insomniac are releasing some Resistance related gifts onto the PSN Store during tomorrow's update. These gifts take the form of Resistance 2 XMB themes and a new trailer for the game. Not only that but the map packs for Resistance: Fall of Man will be made available to download for free, in case you're feeling retro this Christmas.
Bryan Intihar also states that more Resistance 2 patches are on the way and that "some really cool" new features are coming to MyResistance.net. The PlayStation Blog will have more news on both of these in the near future. In the meantime, be sure to grab all these free goodies when they arrive tomorrow and check out G4's X-Play this Friday at 8pm to see Ted Price talk about his favorite games.

I feel ripped. I bought the R:FoM 1st map pack. No one else bought it. Hardly anyone played the maps. I slowly stopped playing R:FoM. I felt like I wasted $8 :| Oh well, that was years ago lol

How about before putting all these "cool features" in MyResistance, you actually open it in Europe?

still, they did say that myresistance was goin 2 be some great website to sort out ur clan and all that rubbish, and they cant even be bothered to acknowledge on it that their game is out in europe?

Hopefully those patches include fixes for weapon balancing/damage.
I'm sick of wasting clip after clip just to kill one person.

Try actually shooting the person. That usually takes care of it. :-P
Seriously, I've never had that problem... What do you mean? I can take out a chimeran soldier with a single shot from the carbine if I'm aimed properly for the head...hardly "a clip"...

My personal list of Resistance 2 fixes:
• Fix clipping errors -- I walked up to a wall, looked through it, and was able to fire!
• Fix collision detection -- I walked through a staircase, turned around, and climbed the staircase!
• Fix audio balance -- Anyone else's surround speakers a LOT louder than the front speakers, only in this game?
• Add gamma adjustment -- This game is so dark in areas that I have to turn off the lights to see things, and my TV was professionally adjusted for levels!
Anything else I forgot?

You got most...
+Matchmaking fixes. Does not balance skilled and unskilled players well. One team usually dominates. Teams uneven.
+fix the medic damage upgrade purchase (forgot its name) it is a big let down.
Not fixes, suggestions:
+Add more coop levels, and make campaign playable with 2 people.
+Make a super-superhuman mode. I beat the game on superhuman two days after it came out.
+Add more competitive and coop maps/objectives.
Does anyone know if the 10,000 kills in competitive trophy can be obtained in not ranked matches?

I'm talking about the real campaign. There is no reason why they couldn't let me do co-op for that.

WOO! free map packs. I still like to play r1 online from time to time. I was going to say "sucks for those that paid" but I would assume most downloaded those a long time ago and have got their monies worth from it.

Yes, but will there be a GTI Club+? That is what I'M after.

Those map packs should of been given away free six months ago. Everyone has stopped playing R1 now apart from the children who have to wait for Santa to bring them new games.
Microsoft and Bungie typically let you have map pack at no charge when they've been released for a lengthy period of time. Resistance doing the same when the community has already dried up is weak.
Seeing as R2 has no relation due to controls and may other things I wont bother to bring up to the original you can't go back and play it without it feeling totally different.

An R2 Demo would've been nice.

It would be nice to see some of the original maps from RFOM in R2. I don't know how much coding that would take to port them over but it would be good for more maps and for a bit of nostalgia.
Got to love free stuff in these penny-pinching days.

I like free! I hope the free maps results in people jumping back into the original Resistance online for a few weeks anyway so we can enjoy them over the Holidays before making the final switch over to R2.

I'd like to see them add modes that are similar to other games.. Hoarde Mode from Gears of War 2, and I'd like to see MORE enemies in the online Co-OP, but have them take less Damage. I'm definitely agreeing with what playcrackthesky mentioned earlier - in regards to the same issue

Maybe instead of giving away free stuff, Insomniac could patch R2 so 1000s of people stop losing their berserks, levels and XP out of nowwhere.

I can't seem to find any of the Resistance free stuff (and I have both R:FOM and R2). Where do I find 'em?

I finished the single player the other day and honestly I feel let down. There was little new added to the FoM experience; it was the same, go this set path way to here, shoot all these things, move over there, shoot all them things. Hardly any puzzle aspect to it and zero replayability.
That said I was online with FoM1 an awful lot and havent went online with FoM2 yet, so it might all be gravy once I do the interweb thing
