Map packs for original Resistance free starting Dec. 11
In a new post on the PlayStation Blog, Insomniac community director, Brian Intihar, drops some Resistance-related info – and the prices on map packs for the original Resistance: Fall of Man.
Previously $7.99, the full collection of four maps will set you back zero dollars beginning tomorrow, December 11. (The original two-map pack debuted in June of last year at $7.99, and was followed by two more maps in November '07 for $4.99.) There are still people playing the original game – now a PS3 Greatest Hit – but most have moved on to the sequel, a likely reason for the pricereduction elimination.
Insomniac will further add to the PS Store's delivery of free stuff tomorrow with three new, no-cost Resistance 2 themes for your XMB.

The Resistance franchise is a warm (though gruesome) welcome to the PS3. Resistance 2 is a really great title, I've been stepping away from the HORRID server lag and *gasp* vacuum chainsaws of GoW2 to play R2, a much more greatly consistent and quicker paced game.
Co-op mode is a blast also! Can't seem to push myself to unlock the OMGWTFBBQ trophy, I wish that if you completed the game on any difficulty it would unlock superhuman.

damn... just bought this too...
not really sure why though. i'm not a real fan of online multiplayer. i don't dislike it but i'm not in love with it. i guess i'm just not good enough at it yet. lol.

You know what would of been cool..use those old maps on resistance 2.
Clutch_beast @ Dec 11th 2008 6:34AM
I just players Resistance online yesterday for the first time in forever. I got my sh** tossed, but it was still fun, and I can vouch that there are some people who definitely still play it A LOT.

Gears' maps went free, Halo 3's maps went free, and now Resistance's are. When are those Call of Duty 4 maps going to be?
Haggard @ Dec 11th 2008 1:47PM
They are for the PC version ;D
Sam @ Dec 11th 2008 8:31AM
Does anyone still play RFOM? I mean free is free, but I'm unlikely to want to step back and go trudging through the UK. Why not port the maps to R2 and lets us get our nostalgia kick from the better engine and improved gameplay?

I mostly play it for the co-op. Never played online multiplayer on it, lol, but it's sometimes fun to play through the singleplayer campaign with a friend.
Kind of wish they had that co-op mode available in Resistance 2, in addition to the one they do have.
