When Nintendo announced that they'd be porting GameCube titles to the Wii with updated features, many responded with trepidation, fearing Nintendo was attempting to fix things that were far from broken. Japan will see if these fears are merited as the first of these Wii-makes hits store shelves tomorrow in the form of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, but Famitsu recently dropped some details about changes in two titles that might be more successful in tickling your fancy -- Pikmin and Mario Power Tennis.
Famitsu reveals that Nintendo's floral take on Lemmings (which is dropping in Japan on Christmas) will feature a new save system that stores day-to-day records of your play time. Whenever you boot up Pikmin, you can continue your game by jumping back into any day of your choosing. Unsurprisingly, a new feature revealed for Mario Power Tennis is a renovated, Wii Sports Tennis-esque control scheme -- though the new title will be compatible with the Nunchuck, likely giving you control over your character's movements on the court. Japanese racqueteers can pick up Mario Power Tennis on January 15.

Miyamoto already announced they are making a Pikmin 3. This is so they can build up the fanbase for the game before the third title is released.

The only thing i don't like about this is that it puts the chances of a new Mario Tennis significantly lower. I mean, you incorporate the dream control scheme, what else would they do with a new game?
Hell, if they revamped the GC remake with online play, that would be basically all they would do with a sequel anyway, sans more superfluous additions
As for Pikmin, i'm quite pleased. Pretty much any video game with a timer or clock has always bugged me, though in the case of Majora's Mask and Pikmin 1, it was enough to put me off entirely at the time. This should alleviate that trepidation nicely.

Brodo, don't be such a tool. Too bad we don't have more posters like Khan and less dbags like you.
I enjoyed the GC Tennis back in the day when I had it, and given how fun WiiSports tennis can be with 4 folks it seems like a no-brainer to do a Wii iteration. Frankly, I'm pretty disappointed their wasting time on this GC port crap. Really, really disappointed actually. I know it likely doesn't take lots of resources on N's behalf to pull this off, but the fact that they're spending time on this at all is pretty sorry.
Side note, I agree with ESC, needs more rooster.

Porting Mario Tennis is actually pretty cool. I wanted to get it for the Gamecube but never got around to it.
On the other hand though, why couldn't they just make a totally new one? The fact Nintendo has resorted to just porting Gamecube games instead of taking the time to make new ones is just a further slap in the face to Nintendo fans.

Mario Tennis might be a different case, though, since Camelot is gone

They did that with Super Mario Sluggers and people pissed and bitched up a storm, too. Nintendo can't win no matter what they do, unfortunately.

Sorry samfish, but Sluggers wasn't great, that is the reason behind the bitching. Stop trying to excuse Nintendo.
Anyway, in regards of Mario Tennis, although I love Camelot, the upgrades between sequels were small.
Mr Khan, there is a huge feature that would be very welcome for Mario Tennis and that is be the ability to jump. That would open the doors to many more options such as jumping on each other teammate to reach a high ball, or for example a stage in which 2-3 bullet bills come at you at the same time...

Sorry samfish, but the first impression is what counts the most, and Sluggers first impression to many other there was simply "meh"
So was Mario Power Tennis, but at least that game had the help of a campaign of a previous game of the series, I really believe that what boost Mario Power Tennis' sales was not only the tv ads but also the previous superb games and their respective ads as well.

Pikmin 3 is already on the oven, also are PunchOut, Sin and Punishment.
We have rumors that Mario and Zelda developers teams are working hard too
As someone stated, this rehash of bouth pikmin is to create a greater fanbase to recieve Pikmin 3

Come on Dralthi, use your brain for once please, just humor me for a moment. The Wii is overclocked GC hardware with identical development tools. How much effort do you think is required to remap the controls and change the game to 16:9 480p?. Nintendo more than likely has a tiny seperate development team working on porting these GC classics to the Wii so as to not affect the development of new games. You're all like 'oh ffs, why cant they give us real sequals'. They ARE giving us real sequals, they are being worked on right now, but at the same time, with a smaller team, GC games are being ported to fill in the gaps between big, new Wii releases. WTF IS SO WRONG WITH THAT. People who never owned a GC can now play revamped versions of older games for the first time without buying a GC controller/mem card, and people like me who own classic GC titles being remade will happily trade-in thier GC version for a Wiimake, just as i did with RE4. So many people complain with the lack of Wii core titles, then when Nintendo wanna fill the gaps between big releases with gc-remakes, people complain more. What will it take to make you all happy!
