It seems we were hasty when we wrote that the "Play on Wii" version of Pikmin would feature "no new content, the modified control scheme aside." The latest Famitsu, as translated by IGN, reveals that the game's save mechanism has also been updated, and now allows you to restart play from any day you please. So, if 98 of your 100 precious plant warriors get singed by a troublesome Fiery Blowhog, you can avert disaster by turning back time. Nice to see Nintendo adding some worthwhile changes to more and more Wii de Asobu titles!
Pikmin just got a little more perfect

Hmm... This might just get me interested in Pikmin again. Mostly though, all I want out of this play on Wii thing is a Metroid Prime trilogy box set.

What I want to know is if there will be widescreen support. Cause stretched out games look bleh(cough*WWsmoothmoves*cough*raving rabbids*cough).
Also, I'm wondering if the original control scheme will be supported. I don't see why they couldn't just patch the two in there. Please don't stop at this one new feature, Nintendo!

Man, I'm SO torn between getting this, and getting the original Pikmin! I really, seriously love the GameCube, and it would feel like such a dishonor to never play/own it for GameCube. I've never played it before so... I can't decide!!! Any advice???
I'm not sure why I didn't mind getting RE4 on Wii... oh, that's right, it had way more content the the GC version, and it wasn't really exclusive to GC anyway... And the controls were almost necessary to upgrade. I don't know, maybe I'll get Pikmin for Cube AND Wii, HA! Not.
