I'm sure this rumor's best and most accurate source is a meeting with some dude on the team who said they wanted 5-player co-op but settled for horde instead.

Cliff has said some things about the gears co-op that implied that more than that was stupid, but it also sounded to me like they just couldn't pull it off because of them having to squeeze a story into the game.

Bring on the 5-player co-op! And for the love of gaming, please don't try to put in a story!

LoL

Im actually leaning the opposite way in terms of story.
Honestly i feel that GoW2 was basically to show off the updated graphics engine. As for the story, pay for some talent to tie this thing together. Then again we might end up getting, WORMS!! THEY'RE SINKING CITIES WITH 2 GIANT WORMS!! !!!!

Rockin' Vectorman avatar Erluti. One of my all time fav's. Have you played Vectorman 2? I have been debating tracking it down for a while.

Yeah, I've got them both. Vector Man 2 hasn't captured my heart the same way 1 did, you fight like some weird bugs and stuff. I guess on a scale of 1-10 I'd put it at like 8 or 9, but since Vectorman 1 is an 11, it's hard to play it when the original is sitting right next to it.

Lord Negatron: And did you happen to notice that we got an awesome level in which we got to go inside the worm and cut through some worm meat?

Yeah. I'd prefer gutting a worm from the inside over "take down the giant mechanical sink machine thing" like most generic shooters. Seriously. The worm is classic.

5 player co-op, huh?

Well...if that is the case, this is one of the cases where split screen co-op wouldn't be missed. Imagine 4 Marcuses in 4 split boxes. Now imagine a fifth one. Massive bodies blocking my view!

EGM tried to get me to bite. I canceled my subscription a while ago because lets face it, month(s) old info and some screen shots isn't really worth my money anymore (even if it is very little money). Suddenly, I started receiving EGM in the mail again a month ago and yesterday I got an issue in plastic with a bill! Those sons-o-bitches!

The mag has shrunk and the talent has (mostly) moved on. I like some of their podcasts but for the most part, my Ziff Davis media consumption has dwindled to nothing. I remember getting excited about the newest issues of CGW, OPM and EGM when I was younger, but the internet has come a long way since then. I have all the info I need about games and tech that I care about without having to flip through ads (Adblock Yo!) and fluff that is irrelevant to me.

There'll be Gears games until the franchise becomes unprofitable, at which point it'll be sold to a third-party.

I think EPIC's inclusion of Carmine is a subtle jab at the Halo franchise... it's like they're saying: "Look, OUR characters actually have personality!"

Anyone who chooses to play as Carmine in multiplayer secretly wishes they were playing Halo 3 instead.

I like to call Carmine Private Expendable or Caboose.

Yes I’m sure there will be 2 other Carmine brothers that will die in a horrible death well maybe the 4th one will survive. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a General or something compared to his other rookie brothers.

Instantly forgettable? Did you even play GOW2 longer than 5 minutes? Or with friends? Because within the first 5 minutes of getting it and playing with friends, some shit went down that I know I'll never forget lol.

Ok Gears2 hmm, not trying to rip it at all, but, not in comparison to GoW1 i still found that many missions seemed to be 2 men against an army. That cheapened the story for me a bit. Great game none the less but just felt 1/2 more players would've given it the "epic" feel everyone talks of. Now comparing it to GoW1 its epic but standing on its own IMO its: The Marcus & Dom chronicles, which is fine.

GoW3 can only improve while, staying away from the Halo(2/3) style of CoOp. *Pew pew pew!, dry story pew pew*
*disclaimer: This post is chock a block with "opinion."

Numbers are meaningless in the case of co-op. Just because it can support more users doesn't mean it should, just like how the more massive online FPSes will just turn into giant clusterfucks, when a simple, 8-player deathmatch was all you needed

You remember "playing a game with 8", or you remember playing 8 player co-op? That's a very important distinction.

I never heard Sony boast that it sold over a million. Link? Anyway yeah I remember...

"4 CAMPAIGNS"
"15 PLAYER CO-OP"
"200 PLAYER ONLINE MATCHES"

These are exaggerations but you get the point, the game has underperformed and has been forgotten. I just wish Sony would do like MS (since they already jack everything else) and put out weekly PSN numbers. I really wanna see what games PS3 gamers are playing. Bet COD:WaW is kicking its ass!

nah Resistance 2 prolly aint hit that million mark yet.......I'm guessing it will by years end tho.......I've got like 80 people on my friends list and have seen maybe 60 or so playing R2.......does it mean they bought it?? maybe not......but it could mean that.......

but I agree Fenix they should release numbers.......CoD:WaW, Warhawk, and R2 anre probably all in the top 5 games........

i think resistance 2 is a more well rounded game then gears 2. you know a sequel that actually move forward not backwards. gears 1 is pwns gears 2.

IGN agrees that resistance 2 is the better game.

Why 5 player co-op!? Thats such an odd number! It should at least be rounded into a nicer looking 6 if they can't force the game to have 8 players.
