Ben Heck spots a Jasper in the wild, tears it up
If you've got a strong stomach, you may want to watch modder extraordinaire Ben Heck tear open a brand new Jasper 360 and then devour it, letting the solder drip down his face like the guts of a downed gazelle. Seriously, it's disturbing stuff.
But it's not all for the joy of the kill. Heck also tells you how you can distinguish a Jasper console from its stinky, 90nm GPU-having Falcon brethren. Here's hoping you've got the iron nerve to sift through the carnage to find the details. If you can't hack it, there's an even easier method of finding which console you own courtesy of AnandTech.

I know it's mostly the blur from the photo, but that shit just generally looks better, even if its only the power port...
Ghen @ Dec 12th 2008 7:40AM
all three power connectors have the same resolution IRL. Trust me.

Actually, Falcons have 80nm GPUs, not 90nm.

I used to work with a gay gentleman names Jasper who would always compliment me on the color of my shirts. Will this new line of 360s do the same?
Jasper the 360 @ Dec 11th 2008 4:42PM
That's a lovely shirt you're wearing today. The color compliments your eyes nicely.
butaneko @ Dec 11th 2008 4:58PM
lol, how nice!

EPIC WIN.

Another way to tell a Jasper is the power supply port on the console. AnandTech has multiple ways for you to figure it out.

soo... how can I tell I have a Jasper before I actually buy it?
Vidikron @ Dec 11th 2008 4:45PM
There's a cutout on the box where the the serial number on the console is shown. You can try and push the console to the side a bit and see if you can see the voltage rating. A Jasper will say "12,1" for the 12 volt rail. The linked Anandtech article has pictures of this. Find one of those and it is 100% certain it's a Jasper.

Now if I recall my old wild west lingo, a "Jasper" was a claim-jumper [as in gold prospecting claims] and an unsavory character who would alter land claim titles and move fencelines for a fat profit [for a fat fee] in shady land deals, etc. Don't think I'd want one of those guys running my new system! har! lol!

Handy article if you're looking to purchase a used 360.

That guy looks like Tommy Chong!

His "Access" one- handed controller was an over priced
disfunctional rip-off. The buttons were so hard to press down it's like using an old type-writer. And the d-pad was severely cheap-ass. For 150$!
If he has mod tips you want to hear about that's fine but don't buy anything from this guy.

Just in time too since my 2nd 360 just burned out 2 days ago.
