New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fighter coming to Wii
As Scientology teaches us, benevolent aliens are some day going to land on planet Earth and deliver unto us the Usagi Yujimbo Wii game that we all deserve. Until that glorious day, it looks like we'll be able to make due with a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.5 dimensional fighter in development at Ubisoft.
Sure, it's a licensed game (though not based on any specific movie or show) but it's also got an impressive pedigree, with Nintendo Power reporting a dev team that includes Smash Bros. Brawl and Team Ninja vets. Oh, and it reportedly supports four players and online action. We're not quite at "Cowabunga!" level excited yet, but super mutation could deifinitely put us over the edge.
We'll keep an eye out for more details.

Actually, its from Halloween at my school...the Naval Academy. There's always some group of mids running around as the turtles every year.
joerendous @ Dec 11th 2008 8:44PM
that is classic!
Grey Acumen @ Dec 12th 2008 4:19AM
What I want to know is how do you get that many people together, to look that stupid, and not have one of them go; "Wow, you guys look like shit. What? I look like shit too?" and instead go "YEAH! Let's go get our pictures taken!"
The lack of shirts is only made worse by the smeared paint, the hair makes them look like the brocolli race(shaved, or at least a bald wig would have helped SO much), and the pink lips just complete the look. You don't even have a chance to SEE Duct Tape Shredder.
I don't usually make a habit of dissing guys who are obviously just fooling around for kicks, but this went a step too far down the path to creepyville and doesn't look like they'll find a place to make a U turn any time soon.

That's how Germany does Ninja Turtles.

Does that make you horny?
ice~ @ Dec 11th 2008 3:22PM

Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Dec 11th 2008 7:06PM
Is hard to tell which is worst this picture or the giant ad with Ozzy's face popping every friggin 2 minutes.
Mr Khan @ Dec 11th 2008 3:22PM
I'd say given it's staff it's almost (almost, nothing is a perfect guarantee) sure not to suck
done right, it could be perfect, especially if they added in a gaiden sorta deal a la Subspace Emmissary
AwesomeTown @ Dec 11th 2008 3:23PM
That picture made my week.
AwesomeTown @ Dec 11th 2008 3:28PM
Ok, I watched some of the Youtube video. I cannot stop laughing every time I hear Krang's voice. Awesome.
Roto13 @ Dec 11th 2008 3:23PM
Did they run out of body paint?
Ubisoft working on a Wii game can't be good news, even if it does involve turtle power.
Fernando Rocker @ Dec 11th 2008 3:34PM
Well... at least Ubisoft is just publishing the game. The devs are good.
And the good thing is that according to Nintendo power, the game has been in development since the beggining of 2008... and the release date is until 2009... almost two years of development. At least the game will not be rushed.
xFenixKnightx @ Dec 11th 2008 3:39PM
How long was Haze in dev for?
:P
Fernando Rocker @ Dec 11th 2008 3:41PM
You mean H4.5E?
=p
*Remember that thread, FenixKnight? That was a good day...
xFenixKnightx @ Dec 11th 2008 3:49PM
LOL!
Check this out Fernando, I told my boys to make a Christmas list and H4.5E (Haze) was on one of their lists! LMAO! I said you want Haze? He said yes because we have no Halo on PS3. Good times...
I think its $10 new! :P
xFenixKnightx @ Dec 11th 2008 3:29PM
Wheres April?
:(
LaughingTarget @ Dec 11th 2008 5:03PM
Scrubbing her eyes out with turpentine and steel wool.
aj @ Dec 11th 2008 6:58PM
Do any of those fellows look like they've ever talked to a girl, let alone know one that they could ask to be April?
Fernando Rocker @ Dec 11th 2008 3:31PM
Nice list of devs...
The problem with the new TMNT games is that they use the characters of the new series or from the latest movie. TMNT games used to be amazing back in the SNES and NES days.
If they use the classic characters the game could be great. There are a lot of characters that could be on the game... Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello, Splinter, April, Krang, several versions of Shredder, Beebop, Rocksteady, Tokka, Razzar, Casey Jones, Rat King, Baxter Stockman, Footsoldiers, Slash, Leatherhead...
Imagine a four player battle in the Technodrome... that would be cool.
=p
Evan @ Dec 11th 2008 3:46PM
Damn, you killed my buzz. You're right. I hope they look to the classic characters and the classic arcade game for their inspiration.
DCBlack @ Dec 11th 2008 5:19PM
I wouldn't mind a Smash Bros. style game with characters spanning each iteration. Just give me a fun game to play for once. I feel like the latest TMNT attempts have been almost at as a poor a level as Sonic (though not quite there). I even had high hopes for the movie-based game, but that game stunk too.
Graham Wellington (formerly tyrone washington, or marsha goldberg) @ Dec 11th 2008 5:34PM
i like what you're thinking dcblack, or another great idea would be something like powerstone with 4 player co-op.
DBuck_Eye @ Dec 11th 2008 3:33PM
Man. I troll the NeoGAF forums and even I'm cooler than those guys...
JWC @ Dec 11th 2008 3:37PM
My eyes they burn! The goggles do nothing!
I've been pretty impressed with Ubi's quality after playing Far Cry 2 and reading about Fable 2. They got a shoot at making a 3rd party wii title that doesn't suck (gasp!).
Shmil @ Dec 11th 2008 3:51PM
I now want a Spaceman Spiff game.
baby sea tuna @ Dec 11th 2008 3:37PM
What in the hell?
Evan @ Dec 11th 2008 3:41PM
I'm getting really excited about the Wii right now:
- Klonoa
- Cave Story
- Tatsunoko vs Capcom
and now, the potential of a *proper* TMNT fighter?
The Wii seems to have matured from waggle mini-games, and getting some high quality games (Klonoa, Cave Story) and fan favorites (Tatsunoko vs Capcom, TMNT).
Mr Khan @ Dec 11th 2008 3:59PM
2009 is the year developers start to get it, just like it took a while for games on the DS to really pick up
Wii probably won't dominate the market enough to really become the platform of choice for big-budget projects, but they are starting to proliferate neatly
Cody @ Dec 11th 2008 5:19PM
Don't talk like that around here. You're liable to catch a few flying 2 liters of Mountain Dew upside the head and be beaten to the ground with Halo figurines.
samfish @ Dec 11th 2008 3:45PM
I might be excited about this if:
A) It weren't a Ubisoft game for t he Wii
B) It was more beat 'em up and less fighter, a la the old Konami games.
It'll be awful. That's a guarantee. If I'm wrong, I'll shit in a derby hat and eat it on YouTube...but I'm quite confident that I won't be eating any poop-laden hats any time soon.
Zertoss @ Dec 11th 2008 3:57PM
I'm gonna hold you to this.
tmacairjordan87 @ Dec 11th 2008 4:09PM
It's a TMNT game, so I think you'll be safe from any shit eating for the forseeable future.
Mr Khan @ Dec 11th 2008 4:16PM
I like what i see. Smash Bros-styled TMNT would restore any lost glory, and not tying it to any particular series would allow the game to be free to grow as it will
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Dec 11th 2008 4:22PM
GOOD THING UBISOFT IS ONLY PUBLISHING AMIRITE???
Graham Wellington (formerly tyrone washington, or marsha goldberg) @ Dec 11th 2008 5:37PM
2 princesses 1 cup? or 1 hat rather
Snowblind @ Dec 11th 2008 6:24PM
Well it does have some good people working on it, and perhaps it's just nostalgia, but a Smash Brothers style game featuring TMNT characters could be pretty darn cool.
Wiinterfang @ Dec 11th 2008 11:33PM
One Naked Peach holding the other one up?
*Gets Camera*
TwEE @ Dec 11th 2008 4:21PM
Man that pic is too creepy.. I know they are wearing makeup but they all look like the same dude, which is creepy on a different level then the homoerotic turtle costumes..
Bill @ Dec 11th 2008 4:21PM
Its the US Naval Academy!!!
J @ Dec 11th 2008 4:39PM
Excellent photoshop fodder for the JPAG
Batzarro @ Dec 11th 2008 5:06PM
Without going going in a Wikipedia Legal Tangent, who's gonna be in it if it's not based on any particular series. Aparently the old series characters (Krang, Bebop, etc.) could not be in the new series.
Oh well, maybe they'll make April black finally.
Not that I mind, I don't have a Wii.
Angel Winged Brawler @ Dec 11th 2008 5:34PM
@Fat ass of Kickassness
You never added me as a Wii pal.
SkycatF14 @ Dec 11th 2008 5:38PM
I have to agree with Bill... after spending four years there, I'm bound to recognize it... that's the US Naval Academy, you can tell from the girl's shorts on the upper left (USNA), among other things (walls, name tags on the doors). Just about the whole student body (brigade) would go crazy with costumes on Halloween night, especially for the school-wide dinner. Some pretty imaginative costumes over the years... it happens when you can't go out on schoolnights...
Wiinterfang @ Dec 11th 2008 5:59PM
That's the funniest shit I seen this week, that will be hard to top xD.
