YES
It all makes sense now.
I see why Chuck Norris is there!
You see, it's because it's the PSP.
And the sales of the PSP.
And it was posted online.
IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE I'M NOT CRAZY!

I bet if the PS3 had 100% backwards compatibility, it would sell more than the current sales of the PS3 and PS2 combined... I know I would buy one.

Well at least Sony sold more PlayStations than Microsoft sold Xboxes.

This thing has been selling very well in the US despite receiving little advertising.

This last month saw zero big game releases and it still sold well.

This is Sony's current best seller in the US and Japan.

This is the fourth sentence in this post.

..and this is me wondering why they haven't stepped up support of their highest selling console. There's several popular franchises that I seriously hope they've talked to developers about. Firstly, I'd love to have a portable raccoon fix. Sucker Punch, High Impact, that new Insomniac studio, Bigbig, Cambridge, I don't care! Someone get on it!

Chuck Norris wants you to love Jesus.

"Alleged Chuck Norris Fact: 'Chuck Norris' tears can cure cancer. Too bad he never cries. Ever.' There was a man whose tears could cure cancer or any other disease, including the real cause of all diseases – sin. His blood did. His name was Jesus, not Chuck Norris. "

what the hell is so appealing about the Wii and DS? I really don't get it. At any rate, if the PS3 continues to have the support, games, updates etc it has and it still is outsold by the PSP, that should tell sony and third party developers to step up support to the handheld.

I bought a Wii.

What was appealing for me was the fact that the control scheme/best games for the Wii are Wii Exclusives, unlike the 360/PS3 which go back and forth and get an upgrade for the PC. :/

Me neither. DS games are too kids oriented I think. But maybe that is why it is doing crazily well? Parents would rather get a DS for their kids than a PSP. Behold the parental buying power :P

But then my new PSP has been increasingly untouched after barely 3 weeks(?!). Just waiting for Dissidia and Birth by Sleep and.. that's all I look forward to? Where did all the games go? Oh wait.. they never came anyway.

PS - and retailers don't seem to be helping, stacking Wii and DS games up front on both the high street shops AND online .. at this rate, Sony gotta step up or lose out.

I have a DS, but I didn't really want one. However, it's getting games, the PSP just isn't.

I mostly use it for RPGs, strategy games and adventure games. I don't see how people can stand to play racing games or shooters on it

I hope "new PSP" means "I already had a phat and played the existing library", otherwise your post is nonsense. No games for the PSP?

Hot Shots Golf
Metal Gear Acid
Crisis Core
Syphon Filter
Killzone
Crush
Pirates!
Patapon
God of War
and the list goes on and on

I bought my first PSP over a year ago, and I STILL haven't played through all the games I've purchased.

Notice how 360 have a package (3games with the purchase of a console) for the holidays out in canada while the ps3 doesent. It makes you wonder. All I've see sony do is the 160gb ps3 which noones going to buy since its overpriced (I really can't understand people who would want this anyways, cant you view stuff from your computer using some next program wirelessly? then whats the point of so much memory...

If PS3 actually had a holiday bundle you would actually see the sales better than this. And for canceling out backward compatibility with ps2 in ps3, that makes me think Sony is cheap and greedy, they could have atleast READDED it to the 160 gb. Buying one now wouldn't be worth it since look at the console's cost and the game's price.

As for the PSP, I can't describe it with words. Whats going in Japan? They actually supported the thing while here no one did anything. Its about supply and demand, and right now theres alot of supply in many stores whenever I visit them ( walmart) with PSPs but not enough demand. Basically, blame their costs for having such low sales and the support they received.

I think Chuck Norris is a metaphor for the current state of the economy. Let me elaborate:

When's the last time you saw Chuck Norris in a movie? Quite honestly, the most recent things I've seen him in are TV commercials. The man is struggling to recover what is left of his career, and that is the exactly what America is doing with it's economy. For now things seem bleak, but there are signs of hope for the future.

.....or you could've just put his picture there because he's awesome.

Actually, I'm getting tempted to buy a DS, not because the PSP is not good - I still use it heavily - but may be because of all those DS games getting an A(+) rank. There are so many! And also may be because I felt a bit ripped off when I upgraded to the Slim being so cheaply made. Third reason is that I'm beginning to run out of time, and those DS games seem to be good in quick bursts.

True that. The PSP seems to be lacking casual games. I'd like to play it for a 5 mins wait but there doesn't seem to be many games to do so (Wipeout Pulse is good tho, but too addictive haha).

It's all just so horribly lame.

Imagine the potential for PSP win if Sony pulled their collective heads out of their asses and promoted their hardware? You know, with the sorts of accessories the Japanese have enjoyed for YEARS like GPS and Camera or packages like solo Black and White systems in addition to several Special Edition game bundles, not just one basic bundle at a time with no flexibility in the color or game assortments.

And, you know, decent advertising... More than a trickle of games coming out... Little things that make people think the system isn't dead. The Japanese market enjoys all these things and the US and perhaps also EU markets are treated like ginger stepchildren.

Maybe SCEA and others at Sony will someday wake up and see the PSP is their best bet at pulling some form of profit out of the mess they've made of this gen. It certainly outsells the PS3 all over the place and has a far larger installed base to sell stuff to... Sony just keeps ignoring that promising, talented kid with the red hair while doting on the other, sullen, underachieving sibling instead.

So the PSP doesn't need saving after all! Cool, just in case though, I.ve had some ideas....

1) Fix the RSS offering, portals and text feeds to make the PSP more pick-up-able for current users.

2) Add a music and video portal to the PlayStation Store. Update the trailers in the Store weekly so people think you're at least trying.

3) Open up the store to smaller devs, even homebrew coders to build a raft of new content, rather like that there iTunes games store.

That's pretty impressive for Wii and DS I must say...

but the only reason X360 sells so good is because it's piracy rate is high and most of the games that are available on PS3 are also available on X360, so why would anyone drop $399 for PS3 and then another $60 for a PS3 game?

and that Chuck Noris picture... it's coming for ya

I think Wii and DS are doing great on sales because of the price. and thats about it. I own a DS, but its collecting dust. Like some of you said, most of the games on the DS are too kid oriented.

Id love to see a new castlevania for the PSP. please please please! :)

Chuck Norris for world president :D hehe!

There is a new Castlevania on the DS, though.

And it is, in fact, awesome.

Have you picked up Dracula X though? It's pretty fun. It's got SotN and a more hardcore old school style Castlevania that has had me trying to get past the first level for 3 months already.

Yeah, I have to say Irving that your logic fails a bit. "Yeah, the DS is too kiddy. I wants more Castlevania!"

The DS has _three_ awesome Castlevania games. Stop being a shallow gamer about "kiddiness" and just enjoy them. Makes life much more enjoyable if you don't worry about the kid games, and just play the good ones. Trust me on that. ;-)

And if you don't own a DS, your missing out.

I'm surprised that the DS is taking off again like last year. Is it the DSi I wonder, because I thought it was a simple repackage, but people seem to be going back to the trough again for another go...
