Major Nelson has dropped a few interesting bits of data regarding Xbox Live since the launch of the New Xbox Experience. Overall, sales of content on Xbox Live Marketplace -- including games, movies, and TV shows -- are up considerably. Probably most impressive is the claim that Xbox Live Arcade sales have "almost tripled" since launch. Specifically, the sales of games with Avatar support -- UNO in particular -- have gone up. A Kingdom for Keflings, which includes Avatar support and launched the same day as the NXE, had "the second-best first week of performance ever" (what was the first, we wonder?). Another interesting tidbit, the number of Friends added per Xbox Live member has increased by 33% since launch.
Joystiq got a chance to pick the brain of Xbox group product manager Aaron Greenberg about the NXE launch. Head over to Joystiq to read his thoughts yourself.

The party system in my opinion leads to more friends. I have met so many friends of friends it's startling.

this post is exactly right, I bought a kingdom for keflings and uno, I had been planning on eventually getting uno, but the avater integratiion put it over the top. most surprisingly to me, is that a kingdom for keflings is actually pretty fun, being as I hate games like the sims and most games of that genre.
I think the whole thing about adding more friends is half true, I have added a lot more, because of Gears 2, but the party system has allowed me to do that.
I really don't buy anything from marketplace, and I think this update made the marketplace more confusing? So for sure now I'm not buying in, Pirate!!!

Speaking of friends, they really need to fix the friends channel. It takes ages for avatars to even load and when I am viewing a party it should show me the people on my friends list first instead of people I don't know.

Agreed. It just takes so long. There should be an option to get rid of the stuff behind the avatars to make it run faster. I would just open up the guide but the main menu makes it easy to see whos in parties.

Seriously it's been easier for me to navigate through the menus and see what's out there. I've bought more Arcade games since the NXE because the spotlights are more obvious. The way they show a new game has been released is much better than before, which was little more than a banner ad.
