Don't worry. Home appears to be a giant advertisement for Twilight and the wireless keyboard for the controller. At least according to all of the flat surfaces in Home.

NO NO NO NO NO!!! DO NOT READ THAT FUCKING BOOK.

While I agree that the movie was alright, it's only because they left alot of shit that made the books unreadable. Unless you like reading 300 pages of bella explain just how perfect Edward is(I'm not even fucking joking) don't read the book.

No luck at all getting in. Downloaded and installed fine, but now it's just a slew of error messages. Using Fios in Seattle, by the way, no excuse for problems on my end.

This is why, instead of calling it an Official release, Sony decided to call it an Open beta

So when people say there are problems, Sony can say were not done yet.

i dont know about you guys but its not gonna kill me to wait. maybe i can use the ps3s original functions while i wait, like playing socom(yes some servers lag 16v16 but the majority right now are stable) or watch a movie that i downloaded from PSN, or surf the web watch some anime(anime6.org), or read a manga(onemanga.com). by some posts it seems as though your ps3s have lost all its functions and being stopped by home. most people complaining are under 18. AARGHHH home isnt up!!! so my ps3 is now useless. this does not compare to the NXE launch were it affected everything. has anything this generation that requires you to go online not have any bugs on launch. please you guys are overreacting about sony not being prepared.

Sony has gone from industry leader to industry joke in 2 years.

The PS3 is this gen's Gamecube.

I'd sell mine if it weren't a 60 gb.

Please please please respond. I played around in Home for a little under 2 hours.

Now when I go to my PS3 browser, and try to access my Hulu queue, I get the error: “Insert storage media at the save destination.” Restarting my system doesn’t help.

What is going on?!

Well, after a night in Home, here are my thoughts (copied from a forum post I made):

I enjoyed Home tonight and spent most of the time laughing and having a good time. I like the pool game, and when the tables were full, asking politely actually resulted in us getting a table. One guy had been watching us play and commenting on the shots; I brought up the PDA menu (you can use the right stick to look around while it is up, even while playing an arcade game or pool) and saw we had actually attracted a small crowd with our trash-talking. We relinquished the table to him (his first time trying it), and discovered that even just sitting in the bowling alley and chatting was enjoyable; and I mean that literally. We went and sat on the seats in the corner of the bowling alley together and just chatted; he was a rather decent-seeming bloke who played SOCOM and it was neat to meet a fellow gamer and talk games. A random guy I was talking to on the dance floor wound up being from the city my mother lives in (where I was over Thanksgiving) and we talked about the town and stuff. In the end, it seems like while you can be a dick and goof off, if you treat Home with a little bit of respect you wind up finding others who are doing the same, and you can actually meet people that way, which I imagine is great for shut-ins who don't have people to play online games with and whatnot. Pretty cool that doing this is built in to the console.

If this was all there was to it, it would get old pretty quick. But the way companies can create custom spaces, and mini-games, could keep it fresh. New songs at the music area, contests and events, etc, will be fun. I really hope they integrate trophies with Home points or whatever. Paying 50 cents for a chair or 5 bucks for an apartment is silly; I'd much rather earn items in Home by other means, and right now I can't imagine anything they could come out with in the mall that I'd feel compelled to pay real money for (though I'm sure they could come up with something).

And then there's the stuff that'll actually be the meat of Home, the stuff that will become its main use once fleshed out; clubs, game launching, and game spaces. I'm really looking forward to using our clan's club to post game times and the like, and as a place for us to easily gather and chat until it's game-time. Being able to launch directly into the game in the future will be awesome, as well.

I think paying $5 to start a club is reasonable; as far as I can tell, those things actually cost Sony some server space to some extent, and it also prevents the gorging that would take place if anybody was free to just start a club on a whim (minimizing creation of stupid things like LOLDICKS CLUB). However, we definitely need to up the member cap from 32; that just won't cut it.

The potential for this is pretty much limitless, and I really think they've built a solid base, overall. Sony has shown they are receptive to the needs/desires of the PS community through the constant updates to the XMB, so I see that happening in Home as well. Naturally, this is all dependent on Sony staying on the ball and keeping this thing updated. But at this point, I think they've committed themselves to that, and advertisers and developers certainly see this as a great way to create extra revenue, hype, and word-of-mouth. I'm excited to see the things they come up with.

I am not looking forward to seeing more of the Echoclones (dudes decked out in Echochrome outfits and bald heads; there was a swarm of them in the plaza at one point, trying to assimilate everybody). I am, however, interested in seeing a huge, winding, Running Man chain that stretches all over the plaza. A gold star to anybody who can make that happen.

I don't know about you guys....but the HOME Beta's audio is screwing up my PS3 digital sound feed royally.

Seems the Dolby Digital Signal coming from my PS3 is blinking on and off in the beta and the sound is choppy. This is just for the Beta.....as games and movies are still fine.

Amusingly its a SONY receiver thats having the problems.....

And I am also getting SERVER ERRORs....and its 4:30am EST in the US.

DOH!!! Home BETA is definitely not ready for prime time.

re: $5 for clubhouse . . .

I suppose that doesn't strike me as an issue. Obviously free is better than a fiver, but I pay 50 for my "free" clan on XBL, and I'd rather Sony bring in the revenue to maintain the system properly (why I don't mind paying the fee to MS), so that's palatable.

WARNING: THIS WILL TWEAK THE SDL. IT IS A SERIOUS INQUIRY, BUT FROM A NON-PS3 OWNER IT COULD BE CONSIDERED AN IMPLIED SLIGHT AGAINST SONY, SO COVER YOUR EYES IF BLASPHEMY OFFENDS

As one of the few people I've been able to fine that seem to be willing to consider Home from some middleground between "downloading it gave me AIDS" and "my 48-hour threeway with Angelina Jolie and the Playmate-of-the-Year cannot compare to the unfiltered pleasure that is Home" I wanted to ask what you thought about the recurring monthly club fee (I think I heard a buck or such).

That blew my mind. If the point of Home was to establish and foster community, then once you get your team together it suddenly becomes a monthly payment to maintain that environment, I was going to start with the "LOL PSN charges Sony is Teh suxx0rz!!1!11", but you don't NEED a clubhouse -- you still have all your friends on your buddylist, can still play games, etc. Clearly they ARE trying to get players so hooked on the glory of a private clubhouse that they're willing to "go subscription" to maintain the benefit (aside: is the monthly fee per member, or just charged to the "founder"?), but you don't have to . . . unless you can't function as a team without the centralized clearinghouse . . .

Look, I'm friggin confused at this point as to whether this is reasonable for a "premium" bonus on top of PSN or complete lying-right-to-the-users-faces-its-free-except-for-the-fees B.S.. I can't get in not being a Sony owner or knowing anybody who is, and I haven't found one other anonymous person on the Interwebs that seems like they'll actually think about an answer, so forgive the out-of-the-blue (rambling) question from a total stranger, but if you're willing to toss you 2 cents in I'd love to hear them.

kthxbi -- busboy33

whoooops, almost forgot my mandatory Sony-bashing.
*puts on Xboy helmet and Jamzy mask*
LOLOLOLOL Sony r teh gay!!! lamefail hahahahaha!!!
*costume safely stored until next mandatory service on the flame front lines*
Whew! Man, it get's hot in that getup! Again, I'd love to get somebody's legit thoughts on the matter.

Hey guys, just a tip if you're having connection problems: try the Japanese server, it's working perfectly.

I tried logging into the Asia server (my default server since I bought my PS3 in HK) and Australia server (where I currently reside) but both popped up the dreaded connection error messages.

As far as I can see right now, not many Japanese users are online and the Game Room is pretty empty. I don't see any language barrier for westerners since every option has an icon that goes corresponding to it, unless some Japanese chick decides to chat you up...

Just my 0.002 cents....

I could see home truly becoming awesome if.... they live up to the promises they said when they announced it (they being Sony)
1.) Being able to have a flat-panel tv in your crib and be able to stream video, pics and music from your ps3 onto it to view, listen. not just yourself but invite people into ur place for the viewing (maybe even stream a blu-ray thats in your drive)
2.) Content, more and more content. advertising (some hate it, actually almost all hate it), but being a free service the more advertising the better because it will drive this place with more content and more stuff to do.
3.) The movie theater actually showing full-length movies. how awesome would that be?
4.) trophy rooms for your crib
5.)more games to play
6.) special events(game announcements, concerts, etc)
if home can deliver, it will be awesome!
