Japanese Namco Museum demo unlocks Home 'gifts'

Here's something nifty. Playing the Japanese demo of Namco Museum on PS3 unlocks special items in PlayStation Home. We've confirmed that this works with the US version of Home after downloading the Namco Museum Beta from the Japanese PS store.
In order to get the schwag, you first need to create a Japanese PSN account. After that, you can download the demo, which contains playable Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig Dug, and Xevious. Achieving high scores in the games will "gift" you with several in-Home items; we've snagged a Galaga T-Shirt so far, but have received tips that a full Galaga arcade machine can be obtained and placed in your virtual apartment.
[Thanks, Andrew]

Dear god in heaven I passed the test and didn't say that which should not be declared in a new thread. Well this is a pretty nifty incentive. Give away ancient games as playable mini-games and entice people into virtual ads for the company/games.

i'm sorry, can you totally reword that entire post? cause i have no clue what you're saying.
anyway, this sounds cool as long as it's just the demo we have to play and not buy the full version.
borland502 (SDF Macross) @ Dec 12th 2008 1:44PM
I didn't say first post. The rest is in English. And yeah, the return key would have been my friend.
j.howlett @ Dec 12th 2008 1:45PM
i think he was pointing out he didn't say first then called the games old and called it a way to advertise
Joystick Hero @ Dec 12th 2008 2:30PM
I hate to say it, but I kinda think saying "Oh, thank god I didn't say FIRST" is nearly as bad as saying "FIRST".

Heh, kind of on par with replying to those posts? Just vote that misfired joke to oblivion and be done with it.
BIGGEN (LIVE-PSN: BIGGEN1103) @ Dec 13th 2008 10:20PM
hey borland, now that someone explained it, it wasn't that bad, just oddly worded
Inspectah @ Dec 12th 2008 8:21PM

severian00 @ Dec 14th 2008 8:54AM
So I got some of the cool stuff including the galaga cabinent but it won't let me play it in home. Anyone know how to make the thing work instead of just taking up space?
Archon @ Dec 12th 2008 1:27PM
Win if that works in the UK. Anyone can confirm?
NukeAssault @ Dec 12th 2008 2:35PM
Yep, region free goodies.
Strategy_Panda (The Sandwitch Poisoning Crew) @ Dec 12th 2008 1:34PM
Its pretty cool that a developer is actually supporting the home idea with unlockable items.
Looks like I'll be downloading this demo
pat1202003 @ Dec 12th 2008 1:58PM
SWEET! I'm making a Japan account now.
Tez @ Dec 12th 2008 1:59PM
Just so it's clear... I use a Japanese account to download the demo, play it on my US account, and I can get an arcade cabinet in US Home?
Strategy_Panda (The Sandwitch Poisoning Crew) @ Dec 12th 2008 2:13PM
yup. The things you download from the PSN stores can be accessed by any account on the system.
Home is region locked though... so if you play with your Japanese account, you will only get the items in your Japanese home.
Travis @ Dec 12th 2008 2:29PM
Here's my question though, since I already made a Japanese PSN acct. How do I find the Namco Museum demo in the Japanese store since its all in Japanese and I cant read it???
foxhound421 @ Dec 12th 2008 2:28PM
a Galaga shirt would be SWEET! Japanese account here i come!
NukeAssault @ Dec 12th 2008 2:36PM
Thanks alot Joystiq. Now every one knows! Now when they see my awesome dig dug hat and pac man shirt no one will ask where i got it! I hate you! *locks self in room* ='(
Lord HowitHurtz @ Dec 12th 2008 2:40PM
i've been in the namco beta for a couple weeks now and have gotten the items for home, clothes, chairs and arcade machines. AND yes you can get all the items for other accounts. All you need to do is log onto your normal account and play the museum games and you will win the same items.
Foe @ Dec 12th 2008 3:00PM
I think Home is kind of awesome so far.
Jon D @ Dec 12th 2008 3:05PM
i can confirm this for the US. So far, i've gotten two t-shirts, an ornament enemy from Dig Dug, and a Galaga machine, but i can't use the Galaga machine. wtf? lol i'll figure it out though.
Paulmichael @ Dec 12th 2008 3:24PM
Yea I've had that for a few weeks now, in fact that's what I downloaded before my Home beta as I didn't really know which code did what until I activated them. I couldn't read why I was getting a gift nor what it was, but soon I had a Namco chair, shirt, and shorts. Didn't know you could get the cabinet though! How much do you have to play to get that?
Ken Edwards @ Dec 12th 2008 3:31PM
I have been playing the Namco Museum since the Home Beta and still wonder why this is not out for the US Store. Also why are there no Namco arcade cabs in the Bowling Alley like there are in the Japanese Home?
I see they finally brought back the Uncharted and Far Cry 2 rooms with the public launch. Sony has some strange practices for Home.
I also want to play darts.
Shattercross @ Dec 12th 2008 3:51PM
YES! Btw, after making a Japanese account I'd like to take this moment and say:
HOLY SHIT, THE JAPANESE PSN STORE IS DROWNING IN AWESOME PS1 GAMES... c'mon SCEA, get off your ass and give us some content!
Vidikron @ Dec 12th 2008 4:19PM
Yes, indeed it is. I've complained about this quite a few times. They get new PS1 games to download virtually every week. We get virtually nothing in comparison.
MillsAnimation @ Dec 14th 2008 11:26AM
Got the demo and unlocked a few items. I offically have a DIG DUG and a Galaga arcade inside my vacant Summer Home. :) Yeah the first "cool" thing for home and 95% of the population wont even get it. Good job SCEA
AkmGamer @ Dec 12th 2008 4:58PM
How about chairs.
Archon @ Dec 12th 2008 5:31PM
I unlocked a Namco stool thing. Does this count?
-slycooper_rocker- (lorddshadow the amazing) psn: shahanasalam @ Dec 12th 2008 6:35PM
i would if i could find the demo. guide plz? kthxbai...
josh @ Dec 13th 2008 12:31AM
i got 3 arcade maching but they do not work anyone have an idea how to get em to work
SScorpio @ Dec 12th 2008 10:46PM
Don't bother creating a Japanese account. Make a Hong Kong account. The Hong Kong store has everything the Japanese store has; however, the store is in English.
The Namco Museum Demo is also the first item in the Newest Releases for the HK store.
fed315 @ Dec 12th 2008 8:57PM
how i get a redeam code to unlock the arcade so i can play it in home apt i have pac-man arcade
NukeAssault @ Dec 12th 2008 9:42PM
Im pretty sure you need to own the full product. Though since its not available yet... you cant. Even if it was available, as far as im aware its only announced for Japan. Though you could always buy Japanese PS Network Card's if you were that desperate. =P
Lord HowitHurtz @ Dec 13th 2008 1:05AM
i have pac man and galagia and they both work, when you press x to play either game your taken out of home and then namco museum loads in. maybe they removed the working code when they released it for public beta?
BIllSadcabbage @ Dec 13th 2008 11:50AM
Since you can't actually download the NAMCO Museum beta on your US account, you don't seem to be able to get the permissions to play the arcade machines in your apartment. You can play them just fine on your japanese account, though.
Ben @ Dec 13th 2008 2:35PM
Where is the demo in the Japanese store?
Ben @ Dec 13th 2008 2:42PM
Never mind! It's the big red 'n'
killquick @ Dec 14th 2008 4:06PM
I unlocked all the four packages on the top but there are four more under those, @lord howithurtz you have the full version right? Have you unlocked all eight (8) packages? That is how you get the clothing, furniture and arcade games.
Chris @ Dec 26th 2008 7:54AM
yes um how long do you have to play each game to get the items?? I have the demo and I got highscores like a website told people to do and nothing on any account. Do you have to get a certain highscore or levels??
Thanx
