Priority #1: Strong, reliable server infrastructure.

Priority #2: Lots and lots of Game Launching data entry. (I pray this can be done in-house and isnt left up to the developers, as it will render the feature and subsequently the service, useless for a long time to come.)

Priority #3: Additional content.

@Aggie- My first time in the main plaza, not two minutes into my home experience, I started noticing all sorts of people sitting down with their faces in each other's crotch area. God I love the internet.

I turned it off as soon as I finally downloaded the mall and saw that I could purchase a summer home for 5 bucks and then decorate it with a 50 cent lamp. Likely wont be visiting my "home" too much in the future.

So the fear of not buying something scared you into turning it off?

I hit the Mall, checked all the shops for free stuff, then sat down upstairs for a nice game of Chess. I magically won at the end, somehow, and made a friend in the process.

Home is what you make it.

Did any of you guys play the various arcade games? They changed some of them up a bit and now you can apparently win items by playing them. I played one of the Echochrome arcade machines in the bowling alley and when I was finished around 10 "You have received an item" (or something like that) messages popped up on my screen. So I guess I won a bunch of stuff.

I actually liked the Echochrome Arcade a lot. I think it's way more fun then the actual Echochrome... but that could partially be due to the lack of annoying repetitive music and excessive echo.

I also found echocrome arcade more fun than the original. Having enemies added a certaing level of urgency the original didn't have. I managed to get 15 and also got those messages saying a got a new item...but I don't know which one...is it the bubble machine? does everyone have that?

it's not the bubble machine, it's an echochrome costume. you guys haven't seen those guys running around in the all white robot like suits? if you unlock that stuff in echochrome, make sure you visit your wardrobe lol. i wore mine for like ten minutes last night doing the robot.

and i remember seeing people with that stuff in the private beta too. i just remember the game being harder so i couldnt unlock the stuff myself lol.

I think Home is pretty cool. The entire experience felt pretty well polished and even if it only succeeds in building up your friends list I think that would be ok. But I am one of those female avatars and the amount of attention I was receiving was disturbing. Do gamers really believe any real females would be in Home? Some guy even did the old yawn arm maneuver in the theater which was a hoot.

How could you spend all evening in Home? It's the most generic and boring piece of crap ever. I stacked my default furniture in a pile, visited someone who bought the summer home, and was bored out of my mind within an hour!

Beats the shit out of me man....'

I'm just picturing some of these people at home sitting in front of a ps3 playing virtual bowling...with strangers online.

I mean really yall is that truly fun? I mean there are so many other things I could be doing other than virtual bowling and then exiting to see that I won a "prize"....whoopdie freaking do!

I'm sorry but I just don't see how anyone could possibly come back to their house put on their ps3 and just use home for 15 mins much less HOURS.

Yeah- I'd HOPE that you wouldn't play it for more than an hour... I mean- it wasn't really built for that reason was it?

I guess if you're into the whole meeting pedoph-I MEAN friends online thing its cool.

But I digress- I have yet to try it myself. (Time to wait an hour for the download)

you guys it's not about that. it's about the features it has. sure running around talking and playing the little games gets boring after a while, but it's the party chat, friends list building, and group game launching that are Home's main draws. if you think otherwise, your missing the point.

since i was in the private beta too, it's only taken me about a total of about 2 hours to do EVERYTHING in Home. so there is no way, that stuff can be the real focus of the app, it's just extra. i own a 360 too and i think this is just the New Playstation Experience.

No less fun than playing random shooter 500 online with strangers.

You do realise how retarded that sounded, you might as well not play games at all, how is digital bowling any more sad then digital shooting and platforming, heres a tip, go outside if you have a problem with it, stop playing games.

Just got the 160 gig Ps3 last week, played a few aaa games, blu ray movies, tried Home, will be promptly returning it today for a full refund. Hate all you want,I tried, but it just doesnt measure up to the 360.I am actually very, very disappointed with the ps3.

I'm guess you got Uncharted right? What else did you try. And what were your thoughts/impressions of the games?

I hate the playstation controller. People can hate the Wiimote all they want but at least that's usuable. I just can't use the sony controllers. They're just...AWKWARD.

Anyways if there was a way to use a 360 like controller on ps3 games that would be a MAJOR plus. But that will never happen so whatever.

Home just came up today. How long did you try it for? Did you beat all those "aaa" games you supposedly played? How many blurays did you watch? You are such a liar. Nobody who spends that much money would return it that quickly.

I was an xbot once. Still love my 360, but people who say there is nothing to do on the PS3 are in denial. Home is simply put as a graphical lobby where you can play games and meet people before launching into a full game. I really cool concept. Although at this point it feels a little sterile.

CNN Money - "Sony's PS3 A Sinking Ship: Sales Plummet"

"Alone among the three major videogame consoles, sales of the PS3 are down about 19% from November 2007, according to the latest stats from the NPD Group. Sony was only able to sell 378,000 PS3s this November, compared to 466,000 last year.

And the problem for Sony isn't the recession, it's the PS3."
