Rock Band 2 coming to Wii and PS2 on Dec. 18

Are you ready to rock? Or, more specifically, will you be ready to rock on December 18? That's the day (a Thursday, in fact) that Wii and PS2 owners will finally be able to call friends over for a Rock Band 2 party. That's right – before the weekend. Crazy, huh?
RB2 for Wii supports the download (and storage on SD card) of tracks via the in-game music store only; you'll have to add Wii Points through the Wii Shop Channel, per usual. PS2 owners ... sorry, but your DLC is in another castle.
Here's the package / pricing breakdown. Note that peripherals for the PS2 version are already on sale.

meh, probably just pick up a pair of the slick white drums on the cheap, get the game, then get a 2 guitar pack of World Tour and a USB mic on the cheap.
Seriously though, why a week before Christmas? I didn't put it down on my list for Santa 'cause I never could find a solid release date. Honestly, I'd rather it come out on the rumored January 5th.
Hafk @ Dec 13th 2008 12:52AM
The Rock Band 2 drums are much more quiet, have metel reinforcement for the bass pedal, and have better bounce.
I think you should sacrifice style for quality this time. Although, that's just my opinion.
And if you live in an apartment, then you REALLY want RB2 drums. My neighbors wanted to kill me back when I used my old RB1s. I actually had to tape socks to the drum heads to dampen the sound.
The Comedian @ Dec 12th 2008 11:22PM
I'm gonna get this because the track list caters to me better than GHWT's.
Though, is the ockband 2 guitar a quality item? I keep seeing so many complaints about buttons not working and the neck bending.
Can I throw $70 for a RB2 guitar without worrying about wasting my money for a broken plastic guitar?
Tiptup300 @ Dec 13th 2008 12:02AM
The guitars are very high quality. I just hate them, as do many others.

Any news when any Rock Band 2 is coming to Australia?
No?
Oh.
/me goes and sits in corner again
Doug @ Dec 13th 2008 12:07AM
lmao. It's okay. We still love you.
Haggard @ Dec 13th 2008 7:32AM
Same question, but replace Australia with Europe :(
Reader @ Dec 13th 2008 10:09AM
Same... except replace Australia/Europe with the U.S. and you'll get December 18.
DBuck_Eye @ Dec 12th 2008 11:53PM
Now then, I can safely assume that the reason for the delay is of course that this will be the most feature-rich version of the game, correct?
MowDownJoe @ Dec 13th 2008 10:31AM
No... but it is going to be identical feature-wise to the PS3 and XBox 360 version... minus little things like a Tattoo Creator and Band Logo Creator.
Mabui @ Dec 12th 2008 11:56PM
Is it bad to only want the game and a microphone..? I don't really feel like thrashing the guitar or banging the drums.
WRE @ Dec 13th 2008 12:22AM
Edited for gross vulgarity.
Mabui @ Dec 13th 2008 1:43AM
Does the fact that I'm considering buying Rockband for Wii indicate that I have a Xbox 360 to buy Lips on?
zuburi @ Dec 13th 2008 3:12AM
One word... Plastics.
Hafk @ Dec 13th 2008 11:56AM
Any USB mircophone will do.
Just buy the game and a microphone.
Neuromancer @ Dec 13th 2008 1:08AM
I thought the Rock Band 2 bundle for the Wii was coming out after X-mas... Guess I was wrong.
Ridgecity @ Dec 13th 2008 2:31AM
They are just trying to reach that demographic that goes "I wanna buy my kids a game this christmas, what do you recommend?" "well, we got this game just today, it's called Rockband 2..."
gib @ Dec 13th 2008 10:14AM
You mean, "well, we sold out of this game just today, it's called Rockband 2..." The only downside to it being so close to Christmas is I won't be able to snag a copy and eBay it for $300.
Jtmonkey @ Dec 13th 2008 11:30AM
Yo, I work for the best buy. The game and guitar bundle will be out before Xmas. The full kit doesn't have a PO scheduled to arrive until jan.
TekBoi @ Dec 13th 2008 6:38AM
Finally...
David Dryman @ Dec 13th 2008 2:21PM
Not coming out the 18th. It is shipping to stores on the 18th.
tojfs7931 @ Dec 13th 2008 6:15PM
Ok, so basically anything that is coming on the wii is also coming on the ps2 (with exception of Nintendo IPs of course) so what is the point of having a Wii exactly - if you dont care about the waggle controls.
WRE @ Dec 13th 2008 6:18PM
You said it yourself, Nintendo IPs.
Feanor @ Dec 13th 2008 8:17PM
Wii version of RB2 and GHWT have DLC and the PS2 versions do not.
