I suppose that only time will tell. But honestly, at this point with the supposed release date only a week and a half away, they should be able to tell us one way or another.

But as for the absence from the Target ad, that doesn't worry me. This isn't likely to be a very high profile release since it has already been out on the other systems for months. Plus Target may not want to hype the game the week before Christmas if they aren't certain about the amount of stock they will have beforehand.

And considering IGN has supposedly played the game with GH instruments to confirm compatibility, I can't image that it is going to be suddenly removed from the game. They may just not want to make the compatibility claim in case it isn't 100% compatible with every 3rd party guitar.

Thanks for the release date clarification but can we get confirmation on the GHWT instrument compatibility?

This is the kind of thing that Nintendo should be mandating, they have the clout so why not force companies to make their peripherals inter-operable.

No one wants two sets of instruments lying around the house, at least no one with a mother, girlfriend or wife.

I have a hard enough time getting one set in the house.

So we're mad at Harmonix again? I'm still getting GH:WT for Christmas. It would be nice to be able to buy Rock Band 2 later but at this point, I'm like, "whatever."

The IGN report was worded like they were hands-on playing the final build of the game using GHWT instruments, so I can't imagine that's changed. It wasn't some report of a comment from Harmonix that could have been misinterpreted or anything. Not sure why they pulled it, but I'm still pretty confident they all work.

i still havent made the plunge, but i want to, on behalf of santa, purchase a full band kit for the family next week. is there a feature by feature breakdown between RB2 and GH:WT out there which is wii-specific?

i dont own any prior iteration of either game, on any platform, so i'm going into this perfectly vanilla and unjaded.

tia!

Hm. Guess I'll wait until I hear a definite answer about the instrument compatibility before buying.

I just wanted to state that my mom bought Rock Band 2 for Wii today! She had preordered it way back was told a different ship date by different emails from Best Buy. She thought that is was going to ship today and got an email saying it was backordered. She called furiously, a Best Buy number and they told her there was nothing they could do. She called her local Best Buy and they told her that they had them in stock. She picked it up a couple of hours ago and canceled her online order. She checked other stores like Target, Wal-Mart, and Game Stop and they weren't selling it yet. So it looks like Best Buy has the upper hand by selling it today. Hope this helps some people who have been desperately wanting a realease date confirmation.

I just went to my local Best Buy store tonight (Dec 17)and picked up the Special Addition bundle Rock Band 2 for Wii . They had 4 in stock. So, if you want it before the 25th, go to Best Buy first!

So, does the RB2 game disk work with the GH:WT instruments?

Confirmed. The GH:WT instruments do work well with the Rock Band 2 game disk on the Wii. I bought both and am very happy that the computability actually works.
