Feeling like a feral ghoul? Buck up, because Bethesda has dropped a mini-nuke's worth of screens from its first Fallout 3 downloadable episode, Operation Anchorage. As we reported yesterday, the DLC is a virtual reenactment of the US offensive against Chinese forces in Alaska from Fallout lore.
What can we tell from these shots? Well, for one, Metal Gear Solid 3's Shagohod is in there. (Okay, just a sort-of-look-alike.) Oh, and there's a new weapon, the Gauss Rifle. Neat! Also: a guy looking at a map and – could it be? – an oil pipeline. Dear heavens. Sadly, there's still no official word on when we'll be able to get all cold and frisky in pre-Brotherhood of Steel power armor.

Isn't that a good thing?
DLC sucks. Glad the GECK is out, lots of free content that will blow any official DLC out of the water.

I don't want to be this guy but can't they worry about making the game work before giving us new content? I frequently find myself getting stuck somewhere having to reload my save.

Also, the game will (sometimes..only 2 or 3 times so far) freeze up. Only other game I've had this problem on was Assassin's Creed.

Looks quite cool although the tank and the weapons(Pic 2 & 6) look rather un-Fallout-ish but perhaps it's just the impression influenced by Fallout 3's ultra super brown rust that can be seen everywhere.

Not sure...seeing how G.E.C.K. only seems to run off game files, extracting them via GCFScape might work...if not just torrent a stand-alone copy. You did pay for it after all.

Yes you can. Just make sure you install the GECK in the steam apps directory and not the default one.

Amen. I was disappointed during my first FO3 play through that I couldn't find a Gauss rifle for my sniper/energy weapons character. Very happy about this. Gauss minigun, too, please?

Ha, yea, that's the character I'm using now. I'm loving the plasma rifle though.

You fools... The Brotherhood of Steel use ancient armor... The BOS in Fallout 3 use armor called T-51d, this was a prototype of the T-51b (the armor that's at the top of the article). And there is 1 T-51b Power Armor suit in F3.

I like how the power armor looks in Fallout 3 but it's supposed to be a POWERED exoskeleton. It always raises your strength too. None of these designs look like they're anything more than plate armor. Maybe the undersuit is some kind of muscle suit?

Power armor is so compact in FO3, as opposed to the ginormous suits they were in earlier games.
Plus, the stats have been toned WAY down compared to previous games, and they impart a hefty -AGI penalty. I thought that the whole point of Power Armor was that it was huge and bulky, but designed so well that the wearer retained all of their innate dexterity. In FO3, you might as well be wearing plate mail

No, I'm basically just dicking around with the plain power armor, which I squirrel away for later, or sell. I can't wear it yet. I know there are some special Power armors that are better, like the medic, and the T51-B, and one, or maybe both of those doesn't have an AGI penalty, but I'm comparing it to the old school power armor.
That stuff boosted your AC so much that nearly nothing could hit you, and its dam res were best in class across the board. the combination made you basically invulnerable to all but the most powerful weapons, and was typically acquired really late game.
I realize that Bethesda made a lot of changes to the game, and the old-style power armor would have no place in the new game, but at the same time, the existing power armor is just too underwhelming when you first acquire it. Since they included a non-power armor that is just as protective as Power Armor, but without the stat mods, the only reason to wear the normal power armor is if you were some sort of tank/melee build, instead of it being the first choice for all characters.
Whenever the proud brotherhood knights are squaring off with super mutants, they say "It's called Power Armor for a reason!" shortly before they are dispatched by foes wearing no armor, and wielding lesser weapons. That makes Baby Jesus in power armor cry.

Medic Armor ftw.
If you haven't noticed, Medic Armor was supposed to be in Fort Constantine but got switched with a T-51b belonging to some soldier. Thus, why it can be found in Old Olney sewers.

how about raising the level cap, then maybe I'll look into buying more content, if they don't get rid of the level cap what is the point in playing the game anymore?

the gauss rifle is not a "new" weapon, if you played the previous games you would know that.

I selected the Downloads option and under view available content for DL was operation anchorage. Whenever I try to select it nothing happens. What am i doing wrong? I deleted the file the first time thinking it was a bad install. But the problem still happened when I installed anew again. Anyone else had this issue or know what I can do here? I want to play!!
