- Alexander Sliwinski is Beerfesting.
- Christopher Grant: The plan: Beat Mirror's Edge. Beat Fable 2. Start Far Cry 2. Start Fallout 3. Play LittleBigPlanet. Go Quincying with Justin and Griffin in Home. Write a novel. Divide by zero. The reality: I'll try to cram some Mirror's Edge and Fable 2 in ... maybe even some The World Ends With You while I'm out of the house. We'll see how successful I am.
- Griffin McElroy: Finishing up disc 2 of Final Fantasy IX (Game of the Year 2008, confirmed). Also trying to become as enamored with Far Cry 2 as a certain southern hemisphere colleague of mine. In my spare time, Quincying.
- Kevin Kelly: I'm playing this fun new game called "Find your emails under a pile of Joyswag Holidaze contest entries." It's really nifty. *cry* I'm also planning on playing a little Left 4 Dead with an old friend, and some of the Rio Grande board games I just got, including Change Horses. That's right, it's a horse racing game. What? You know you want in on it. Then Sunday, Justin, me, and some of the other Stiqers are playing the Spike VGA drinking game. Every time makes a bad joke, you pound one.
- James Ransom-Wiley: So get this, I was playing Home earlier and totally macking this fly little breezy, and she's all grinding up on me, and then BAM -- she transforms. She like totally turns into a Quincy. Gross. (Whatever, I still invited her back to my studio ... )
- Jason Dobson: As I continue to turn back my significant other's delusions that I am a teen girl and would then be interested in reading Twilight, I'll instead spend the weekend locked in my room restoring Prince of Persia's fertile lands. Oh, I'll also be playing with my G.I. Joes.
- Justin McElroy: I'm probably just going to be Quincying with Griffin, honestly.
- Ludwig Kietzmann: There will be countless shenanigans in Fable 2's land of Albion, insidious deeds in Fallout 3 and ... oh dear, I sense a fourth playthrough of Mirror's Edge coming on.
- Randy Nelson: I'm finally going to engage in a little action with two other people ... The Prince and Elika. I intend to collect 1,002 light seeds just to show Ludwig up, since I've come to accept that there's no way I'm beating his time trial marks in Mirror's Edge.
- Ross Miller: I think I've put in enough time with Devil May Cry 4 today. Rest of the weekend: Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts, Mirror's Edge (hopefully), Boom Blox and whatever else I've missed this year. Oh, and probably Quincying.

I feel your pain. My Wii has eaten 2 GCN memory cards in the past year. Twice I played and lost the first half of Beyond Good & Evil, and along with that went such treasures as a 100% Skies of Arcadia Legends file, a save 2 hours from the end of Baten Kaitos Origins, etc. Talk about depression.

Do you have the Memory Card 1019? Because mine randomly gets corrupted sometimes while other times it's fine. I think it has to do with the heat emitted from the top of the Wii. It seems to be fine when I leave out the memory card, but I'm just worried.
Also, I haven't had this problem with the black or grey memory cards...

Yes, mine were also 1019s. The white Nintendo-made ones. They lasted me 6 and 3 years respectively with my GCN, then both corrupted within 1 year of usage with my Wii. Thanks for the tip on removing them, though, I hadn't heard that theory before.

I'll be playing take-home Algebra exam and German term paper on Realism.
Once I'm free of that schlock hopefully I'll have time to get back to Space Invaders Extreme, Paper Mario, L4D, and Sins. Yeah like I'm going to have that much time.

Chris,
Mirror's Edge is a short game so there's no reason to cram IF you're only intending to beat it. If you're like me and are doing speed runs (and love that sort of thing) then expect it to take up your whole weekend and then some.
"God dammit if I only hit that wall run just right, I could have vaulted over that railing and I would have saved at least 3 seconds!!!" *eye twitch*

Quinc... er, Griffin, you spelled Chrono Trigger wrong. Might want to fix that.
Replaying Platinum again, going to write that FAQ at some point. Also going to solve the Chrono Trigger gametape a couple of times to get some more endings, and maybe some New Super Mario Bros for the proverbial lulz.

Would you say that Banjo is worth a purchase? Reviews weren't glowing but I've seen a lot of people completely addicted to this game.
Where are the reviewers wrong in your opinion? Seriously contemplating picking this up but the reviewer consensus scared me away.

:/ You listen to reviewers? I think that's your first problem right there. Learn to think for yourself, man.
Anyway, the physics engine in this game is crazy, and it lets you make some really nifty vehicles. I actually have a working catapult. Yeah, it's not too practical, but I'm having a hoot just driving into Nutty Acres and chucking cows around. You really can make almost anything with a little ingenuity. And any problems you might have driving vehicles around is usually alleviated by tuning the vehicle.

Check out Giant Bomb's review for a different opinion and matches my opinion the most.
I love the game and was about to come here and commend Ross Miller for playing it :P
I really enjoy making vehicles to tackle the challeneges. I can understand the critics reviews if they stuck with one vehicle or they were bad at making vehicles, because if you do/are either, I can't imagine enjoying the game.
I think I must be addicted, haven't had as much fun with a game since.........Castle Crashers!

Heh,
Most times the reviewers are on par with my thinking. I did listen to the Bombcast where they were raving about it which is why I wanted to ask you :)
The exception that I have from the reviewers this year is Too Human and Mirror's Edge, I bought those day 1 and haven't regretted it. I guess the reason I was asking was because I've trusted in Rare but I've been burned so I'm a little cautious about them. Thanks for the input though, I'm going to go and pick it up :)

One warning though. While I'm sure you know this, it is not like the other Banjo games. Taking it for what it used to be, rather than what it is may be detrimental to gameplay if you are clingy.

I think the reason why so many reviews kinda shat on N&B is that the game takes serious amounts of time just fiddling around with the vehicles to see what you can do. Considering most reviewers are all about banging out a game ASAP, the time consuming nature of this game just isn't for them.
I think the best way to tell if N&B is for you is if you've ever sat there for hours seeing what you can build with legos. If you have, you'll love it.

That said, I'll probably never load it up again. It's just not my sort of thing.

my thoughts exactly. i had two problems with the game though. 1: my best friend lives in the uk so we see each other playing home but we can't actually *join* each other and 2: if you invite a friend to your house, you can't actually sit by them. besides that, and the current lack of things to do, it seems great.

If you make a UK account, you should be able to get into that Region's Home space. The same goes for your friend. If he makes a US account, he can access your Home space.

this weekend's family christmas time, I see a play with my grandmother, dinner with mom and sister, and Day the Earth stood still with dad. In between that, I'm feeling nostalgic, and the temperature and mood and everything is in a certain way that I feel like im gonna pull out Mass Effect and give it another run through

Let us know what you think of ol' Keanu's latest. I had reallllly high hopes, but the reviews aren't looking too good. Loved watching Johnny Mnemonic all over again after I'd started reading lots of William Gibson books, so I turned into a huge fan, he wrote the screen play.
2nd note, I really, really loved ME, but the DLC was tooooo slow to the game it was a shame.

the movie was good, nothing great, and GORT didnt kill enough people. All in all it was a little cliched with too much "the government is always stupid and that fat bitch in the pantsuit makes every wrong decision", also the entire movie was basically an anti global warming flick. As a side note, the kid played WoW and had a Master Chief statue, so it was good for that instead of the usual 360 controller with atari sounds crap they have in movies

I've been having a blast throwing in MarioKart randomly lately for a race or two...

Is there a Joystiq club in Home? I found one and sent a request or whatever but I dunno if it was an official one or just somethin some person made.
Anyway I'll be continuing my 6 ps2 games that I recently purchased. I haven't really played any of them that much and I need to start mowing through them before x-mas when I'll have a bunch of...newer games to play.
I'll also probably be playing bowling in Home. I'm becoming quite a monster on those lanes (6 strikes in a row ftw!). Also gonna try to see if any of the other arcade games besides echochrome and Ice breaker give free stuff.

Jak 3, FF 10-2, FF 12, Shadow of the Colossus, Beyond Good and Evil (haven't tried it yet), and Dragon Quest 8.
I never played the last 3 until now, and I'm struggling to keep progressing on Colossus because of the spaztic camera and somewhat smearing graphics (I'm guessing it's my hdtv doing that).
DQ 8 I'm taking a long break because I'm an hour in and right now it ranks in my top 5 most boring games ever played. I'll eventually go back and try it again.
And I know I've hated on FF 12 a lot before, but I'm giving it another chance and...I still don't like it lol. It's not agitating me as much anymore, but I still prefer 7-10 and even 10-2.

Ugh, I've been meaning to check out BG&E for awhile, hurts realizing how my backlog is brutal; worst offender is Crackdown, which I purchased ages ago when I initially picked up the 360.
Then of course there are GC/PS2/DS/Wii/360 games I have lying around unfinished. I need rehab.
