It's been a while since we've checked in with our old friend Yahtzee, so we were eager to hear his thoughts on one of our favorite games in recent memory: Left 4 Dead. And guess what?! He didn't hate it! ... Well, since we're still in Reality Prime, he had plenty of mean things to say about it, but he was probably as nice as he could be without some sort of dimensional shift.
See how much of his assessment you agree with in the video right here.

I am glad joystiq started bloggin about him again. Ilove his hate for all things games. The only people who don't like him are fanboys who can't stand have the thing they jerk off to being called out for its faults.

I dunno about dreamboat, but I can always count on him to dish out some pure unaltered truth from him. Yes, he's abrasive, no, he does not represent the entire gaming community, but he has specific tastes and standards and doesn't try to pretend to be speaking for anyone but those with his tastes. Even if you don't agree, his opinions USUALLY are are least on target(I've only really noticed him contradicting himself once on his review of SSBB) and he points out flaws that are easy to gloss over, but still important.
Also, I can count on him cracking me up at LEAST once in through his skit. A good example is the last line he said in this one.

Exactly. He seems to be milking his 15 minutes of Internet Fame for all it's worth.

Add me to that list. Never understood this guys message or intent. If there is one to begin with. He's just not that funny nor is worthy of any attention.

It didn't take long for PC Gamer to take him off the back page.

milking his internet fame? you are a fucking idiot The Escapist hired him to do a job as a reviewer, it's bloggers and game websites that milk his fame. Anyway, have you seen his view counts recently? He has tripled the escapist's traffic. [fanboy] I still totally disagree with his MGS4 review though [/fanboy]

I used to think that people who thought Yahtzee's review's suck were humorless children. Now, after several more episodes, I have to admit, his reviews aren't that funny anymore to me. I'll still watch his stuff though, but not with as much excitement as before.

He's always good for a laugh, sure some of his reviews I disagree with but they are still funny.

Yahtzee isn't funny, he's just a cocky idiot talking at a million miles an hour for no reason whatsoever. He is just so opinionated and biased, he seems to think his word is gospel and that his reviews are perfect.
Also I think the main reason these gaming sites have picked up on his L4D review is because L4D is getting far more praise than it deserves, and it seems to be causing some kind of outrage that well known reviewers are thinking it's not that good.

I find it funny that you said he thinks his word is gospel right after you proclaimed that he isn't funny. The thing about humor is that it's subjective to people's taste; some people think he's funny, some people don't. Get over it.
His reviews are just an opinion article displayed in a much more enjoyable format.

Doesn't every reviewer think their word is a chapter of the gospel?

I enjoy Yahtzee's 'reviews'. I think he makes some good observations, and his humor hits my funny bone from time to time. I'm still willing to bet dollars to donuts that this pilot you speak of will be unwatchable though.

Honestly, if you actually take his reviews seriously, I'm afraid you just don't "get it."
The man nitpicks for a living. It's entertainment (or at least supposed to be, depending on your tastes). He's just playing his role as overly obsessive, snooty, "arty-game" curmudgeon(and Valve fanboy).
I enjoy his reviews. I think they are funny and entertaining (most of the time), and he often makes good observations about game design (i.e. quick time events).
But I have never actually had my opinion on a game swayed by his reviews. That would be silly.

I laugh, but I never take them seriously. For me, it is all about entertainment. Got my brother hooked when we saw one of the earlier Guitar Hero/RockBand reviews he did. I just like to go over to his site about once a month for kicks and laughs.

While I don't take his reviews as gospel, he tends to accurately show the bad side of most games. This is helpful in an era in which most reviews gloss over the negative aspects of many AAA titles.

Left 4 Dead is the Greatest game Ever!!! kinda, sorta, not really. But it sure is fun. Expert mode is the best, yet impossible! Teamwork FTW!

The irony of it all is that he himself has a militant base of fanboys defending everything he says.
