i guess when there are so many other games that offer similar or better online multiplayer experiences, it is very easy to pass this one up or give it a poor review.
there just isnt enough on the disk to deem a worthy purchase.
sony customers have always been the 1 player, RPG people, i really dont know why sony is doing so many shooters and online only games.

Well that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. Even with its quirks, I have had more fun playing SOCOM than I ever had playing any mode, online or off, in Resistance, Halo, Gears, etc etc. That's really all it boils down to in the end, isn't it? What is the most fun to you, personally. For me, it's SOCOM, and I'm glad Slant Six is working hard on patches.

Well, at least we guys in Europe will get to play the completely patched game. I have never played this title before, really looking forward to it, especially after reading how tactical the gameplay is. Pretty disappointed when this got postponed. You US guys will probably have loads of practise by March and kick our ass!
And thanks for taking things the positive way, I suppose the feedback from gamers like you will allow developers to iron out the bugs so that this game will be a blast when we get to buy it. Killzone 2 and SOCOM, 2 multiplayer beasts at the same time, talk about being spoiled :)

I agree with Tez. Socom isnt really broken like it was at launch, it works well now. GoW2 Public MP is still broken and IMO lags worse than Socom(I will sometimes sprint in the same place and it pisses me off. Also invisible shields and one handing shotgunes???wtf????) Socom is highly underrated i think. Also sk8 idk wtf is up wtih Sony and it shooters. They need to start bring back the JRPGs because they are slowly dying off.

i really enjoyed too human for 34 hours and that game got really poor reviews and crap on the web.

sometimes its just this is not what i like about the game and why i dont like it, not why the game sucks or is bad.

I wouldn't say this is the worst Socom game ever made by any means. This actually went back to the Socom roots by removing vehicles and having more close-mid ranged combat.
The game was never sold as having a campaign so everyone who bought it knew it was an online shooter in the vein of shadowrun, unreal tournament and frontlines. Sure, those games have offline bot vs bot pseudo campaigns but in reality it is training for online multiplayer.

Can't we just let the game stand on it's own and not compare it to Halo, Resistance & Gears Of War 2? All are full priced retail releases that are some of the best shooters on consoles today. It's not exactly an apples to apples comparison.

I don't really get the doom and gloom scenario being painted here by *ahem* some Joystiq users. It could be worse and be like Shadowrun which never got supported at all or like Castle Crashers which has still yet to be updated once and has critical bugs verging on unplayable. It has been supported with a myriad of updates since it released.

There is no doubt that it should have been better when it released but it's still far from an awful game or a broken game. There are probably more people who got a bad taste from the Beta and didn't buy it then anything. In this case the Beta probably hurt the sales of the game though it was needed for development purposes. Obviously slant six is working hard to make the game that everyone wants and I don't think any of us should try to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

If someone hasn't even played the game and is hating here on this blog and calling it a failure then it's just typical joystiq forum behavior. The same as people who have never played LBP saying the level creator is to hard to use, people without a 360 saying that avatars are pointless, people saying Home is dumb without having ever tried it, saying all Wii games are for casuals without owning a Wii etc etc and on and on. You can certainly form an opinion on content without having tried it (I know I won't like Hello kitty because of the subject matter no matter how good the gameplay is) but to use glittering generalities without experience makes the point invalid.

If you tried the game and didn't like it lets hear why. If you experienced some crippling bugs what were they. Just saying the game is a failure, it has nothing to offer and that it's worst socom ever without a reason other then taking pleasure in seeing it fail (sic) is not productive. The topic was about the updates that had been done to the game not it's sales figures or metacritic score.

If this were a time frame like the DLC of GTA IV I would agree it was to little to late and why even try though updates are different than expansions. Slant Six has constantly released improvements for the game and while we all wish it shipped perfect it's still a good thing they are supporting it and trying to get it right.

Too Human is a perfect example of a game that was ripped apart by everyone (critics and gamers) as being completely broken and a huge failure. But there were also allot of people who really enjoyed the game. There were tons of people ripping on Too Human that had never even played it. I have enjoyed allot of games that were hyped and suffered awful reviews like kayne and lynch, lair, haze (yes I enjoyed it!), shadowrun, animal crossing city folk, time crisis 4 (I wish more shooters supported the Gun-Con as it is a great controller), Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon and Socom to name but a few. I try not to get caught up in the hype or the hate and just judge the game from my own hands on time. There is way to much focus on metacritic averages and for some reason everyone thinks that every game needs to be some AAA multi million seller to be a good game.

Just because a game sells bad doesn't mean I won't enjoy it!

I'm just glad I got the pimp BT Headset with the game. Instead of wasting $40, I only wasted $10.

Rumor has it that fun was actually patched in after the Beta. I hear you actually have to input some special code in the order of buy game + play game to activate the fun patch.
