GET IT, people. It's a great game with fun characters, great writing, and tons of personality.

That's the problem because so few people know about this series but it gets GREAT reviews.

The reason why most people don't know about it? Most people are graphics whores and think that a retro style sprite based graphics game.

So if you're not a graphics whore buy this game.

I haven't bought it. Why? Doesn't that make me a hypocrite? Well I've been out of a job for months and don't have money otherwise I would have gotten the 90 dollar bundle but honestly I'm waiting until they release the DLC for America (why they haven't confuses me) and until they get the Nekomata DLC I would have to train up a team without my Nekomata. I love my Nekomata Nippon Ichi Software of America please give us fans our Nekomata's already. I know that it's pay DLC BUT I WANT MY NEKOMATAS T_T

@ MakaiOokami

wow i'm sorry about the job situation. on topic, the reviews weren't so stellar for this so can any ACTUAL owner and preferably non-Disgaea fanboy please tell me if its a good purchase? for $20 i would buy this no matter what anyone says but i figure if i buy it, i might as well support NIS and buy a new copy. so opinions?

@sly

Not an owner, but I played the old ones to completion and played this one a fair deal (although I'll probably buy it now that it is at 20 dollars even though I've basically run out of time to game).

I don't think I am much of a true fanboy on anything (except maybe Richard Dawkins?), but I think you should try out the Disgaea series if you enjoy strategy RPGs. All the Disgaea games are very charming, quite funny, enjoyable, and come packed to the bring with tasks to be done.

The game got mediocre reviews, but I do think a lot of that is due to the bias of graphics. It shouldn't have scored much less than the other Disgaea games did, because it does all the same things those did and a few more things. I don't trust the reviews, per se, because I personally perceive a slight bias in reviews against RPGs in general, and especially SRPGs. These types of games seem to be taken to the cleaner whenever they fail to innovate - ie. how many times have you read a review of an RPG that maligns it for only doing "more of the same?" Gears 2 gets great reviews for being the same game as Gears - but prettier. Disgaea 3 gets mediocre reviews for being so similar to Disgaea 2... just not pretty enough.

huh ok thanks i tried the one on psp and it was pretty hard. rpg's don't really appeal to me much because i'm not to much of a fan of the micromanagement but i might as well try it since the only other rpg's worth speaking of are in my collection.

Yeaaaahhh! Disgaea~!

If it's this cheap, I suggest everyone who's a fan of SRPGs should get it. Or get it anyways.

Anyone who likes SRPGs should buy it. The game is VERY good and way better than Disgaea 2.

Ya wtf I didn't ignore it. I got a PS3 BECAUSE OF IT It's an awesome game, and I hate you if you don't have it.

If you dont want my "fanboy" view, its a great game and incredibly deep. You can go all the way to 9,999 and its prolly the second best SRPG evah

Used PS3 games from gamefly has always been in like-new to excellent condition for me. I bought Lost Planet and GH Aerosmith a few weeks back, and they were just in pristine condition. The scratch resistant coating on these Blu Ray discs is worth its weight in gold.
