Fallout3 has plenty of "gore-for-gore's-sake" too. As for the brainless allegation, I found that playing GoW2 requires far more thought. I played Fallout3 on a hard difficulty without breaking a sweat, I was lvl 20 in no time with all of my attributes at 6-9 and 90% of my skills at 60 or above with about 5 at 95+. Most fights are over before they begin with a in-sneak headshot and any against particularly strong foes might require a jet and psycho. Enemies impervous to normal means of extermination usually are overcomed once you figure out their weakness(such as pulse grenades against armored robots). Furthermore, quests are pretty straightfoward and alternate means of completion fairly obvious. Oh ya, and I have more caps than I know what to do with. I like Fallout3 but playing it requires about as much effort and thought as Progress Quest, whereas Gears2 provides challenge and some exercise for my cognitive facilities. (Oh and for the record I DO NOT use any walkthroughs, guides, FAQs, etc in case you were wondering)

I love RPGs and especially Bethesda RPGs, but its the well written story and immersive, vast open-world that I enjoy about games like Fallout3. I was just making a point that while its easy to write-off the entire shooter genre as brainless, in reality the gameplay of finely crafted ones like Gears 2 can be far more stimulating experiences. That said, not all RPGs, or shooters, are equally challenging. I'm currently playing Lost Odyssey, an RPG that requires far more strategic planning and tactical analysis than either Gears 2 or Fallout3.

GOW2 will not win game of the year. Mark my words...the online is terrible, 10 times worse than the original GOW. The "improvements" that Cliffy B and EPIC made to GOW2 online multiplayer are unapparent to me.

Well people see him as some kind of amazing anti-hero who like drives fast cars and has babes, and i think gamers hope they can be seen like that instead of like couch taters. It's not just because of this, but even though he's obviously really smart and talented, he can be a bit mouthy.

I would say that GoW2 deserves it more than Fallout 3. F3 might have it beat in the sense of style, but for pure technological purposes, GoW2 is the game to beat.

So since GTA IV beat out Gears 2 for GOTY, what's Cliff gonna do instead of slash Todd's (of Bethesda) tires?
