VGA 2008: Will Wright's got a new project, he's not talking

This won't come as a surprise, but we're betting it'll do your spirits well. Will Wright just told us, "I'm working on a big new project that I'm very excited about, but I don't want to talk about it yet because if it takes three years to come out I don't want people saying 'Wow, he's been talking about that for a loooong time.'"

Jeez Will, you sound like a guy who's had a little (read: a decade) of experience with that.

Eh, he's made more than one game. Even if they are within an overlapping franchise they're still different games.

spore was pretty cool, but i wish more than just appearances were customizable -- i wish it were possible to engineer the planets and whatnot into works of art the way I feel when I build an incredible city in SimCity

I agree with the other commentors, Spore, for all its hype and potential was a huge dissapointment, made the more so with the inclusion of SecuROM. I enjoyed many of his earlier games (SimCity's, SimAnt, etc) but lately? Meh. The Sims' held my interest for a few weeks then got old fast.

At this point I'll expect little, and if he produces something great, well then i'll be pleasantly surprised, but he has a lot to make up for.
