Weekly Webcomic Wrapup is passing the baton

I've been given the opportunity to make a final statement, which I intend to do so with bullet points:
- In the world of webcomics, this is more often than not true. For better and for worse.
- Is it Funny Today? is worth checking out to see what the Internet Hivemind finds
- The 2008 Webcomic Holiday Postcard Fundraiser is now live and worth your consideration. Proceeds go to Child's Play Charity.
- Favorite webcomic? I love Digital Unrest and its geeky science jokes.
Ball and Stick (Digital Unrest)
Unavoidable Square tax (MNC)
A Penetrating Look (Penny Arcade)
Town Folks (Brawl in the Family)
Of bar bets and pub puns (Sidescroller)
Is that a tear? (GameMarks)
Crossover (CAD)
Who Reviews the Reviewers? (2P Start)
Burn me once, shame ... (Dueling Analogs)

Rather than battle them, you should join them, Ross. Joystiq could use more weekend bloggers! Weekdays suck!
quasebrasileiro @ Dec 14th 2008 6:08PM
(Not the Joystiq blogging, mind you, I meant weekdays in general.)
peepoop @ Dec 14th 2008 6:15PM
Griffin?
Great, now the next one will be riddled with improper usage of the italics tag.
Haggard @ Dec 14th 2008 6:19PM
Man, you really put out the smackdown there
Mr Khan @ Dec 14th 2008 6:19PM
And so it was on that day that the last of the legendary weekday warriors surrendered to the unstoppable power of the Griffin. Valiant but futile, they retreated forever back to their home, leaving the Griffin to reign over the weekend unchecked
Mr Khan @ Dec 14th 2008 6:32PM
Digital Unrest wins with the most lulz. Brawl in the Family was good, but it's been done before. Dueling Analogues loses hard for some sort of sense of Square Enix loyalty. There was a world before PlayStation, you know, and Nintendo was king back then too...
Roto13 @ Dec 14th 2008 9:13PM
They didn't even post the right Brawl in the Family.

Typically, it blows me away that anyone finds any of these funny ever. They usually seem absurdly stupid and uncreative.
However Penny Arcade and Sidescroller were great this week.
quasebrasileiro @ Dec 14th 2008 6:28PM
How can you say that it blows you away that ANYONE EVER finds ANY of these funny and that two of them were great in the same post?
...sorry just had you call you on that :)
Markez (Anti-Panda Death Murder Squadron) @ Dec 14th 2008 6:39PM
Eh, yeah, you're right. Guess I just put it that way since I'm shocked that for how long I've been reading the wrapup something finally struck me as actually funny. Usually it seems to me when going through these we're just picking out the best of the garbage, which means it's still garbage.
quasebrasileiro @ Dec 14th 2008 6:24PM
Loved Ctrl+Alt+Del this week. You know that's TOTALLY what someone at Midway was thinking.
Winman2000 @ Dec 14th 2008 6:32PM
I could've sworn I've seen the CAD Crossover comic on WWW before...
NynjaMonkii @ Dec 14th 2008 7:06PM
It was in the comments of last weeks WWW.
Aero @ Dec 14th 2008 7:23PM
Yep, it was definitely in the last WWW.

Tiptup300 @ Dec 14th 2008 10:54PM
I believe it's been in the last 3 WWWs. I take it as a joke, since CAD sucks as bad as a joke about abortion. oh...wait!
Haggard @ Dec 15th 2008 11:59AM
*miscarriage
Moptimus Slime @ Dec 14th 2008 6:33PM
Your going to have to be careful with Griffin, you never know when he'll switch the link from a comic to tubgirl
Haggard @ Dec 14th 2008 6:41PM
Wasn't that CAD on last week's wrapup?
Anyway, my vote's for Sidescroller.
Kellydude025 @ Dec 14th 2008 9:16PM
Thank you...i thought i was the only one that noticed.
But I'm almost positive you are correct, good sir.
Obie @ Dec 14th 2008 6:41PM
Penny Arcade for the epic fail that is playstation Home. How much time and money did Sony spend on that thing again?
John @ Dec 14th 2008 7:20PM
you know, any second now, the PS3tards are going to come in here and try to tell you how awesome standing in line in an imaginary bowling alley is, because it's realistic and totally better than spending 80 bajilionty dollars over the life on your console for online.
Oh, and paying .49$ for imaginary pants in your imaginary world is totally better.
I think the write up for PA is actually much better than the comic.
Home is such shit... it's free cause they COULDN'T charge for that garbage kids.
Obie @ Dec 14th 2008 7:27PM
While I don't own a PS3 yet, I did read all the recent impressions of Home. Even ardent PS3 fans are dissapointed with it.
I mean what is fun about waiting to play browser type games, about typing, about creepy lifeless avatars, about being harassed, about watching pixelated laggy "Twilight" trailers.
Sure it's not final, but as they say in Star Wars: "I have a bad feeling about this."
Donald @ Dec 14th 2008 7:34PM
Posting to point out that the accompanying news story for the PA comic might be funnier than the comic.
Markez (Anti-Panda Death Murder Squadron) @ Dec 14th 2008 8:20PM
Donald, you are correct sir. Good write-up. I didn't quite follow their dig on Lair and Heavenly Sword tho.
David @ Dec 15th 2008 9:30AM
They're planning on keeping it in beta forever, so what we have is "final" in it's at least 1.0. Oh, and pants are $.99, which just goes to show that Home is probably twice as bad as you think.
That Fuzzy Bastard @ Dec 15th 2008 6:53PM
From now on, I intend to follow all statements about upcoming events with "Shortly thereafter, you will be raped."
I think it's going to do wonders for my teaching career.
MNC Dover @ Dec 14th 2008 6:44PM
Sad to see you go Ross. Good luck in your, uh...well, good luck in whatever it is you do! :P
Nomi @ Dec 14th 2008 7:18PM
PA takes it this time...so true.
Premature ejaculation man @ Dec 14th 2008 7:26PM
Nooooooooooo!
Tombo @ Dec 14th 2008 7:59PM
Great lifeless expressions on the home guys in PA.
Here's our comic for last week:

didn't you guys do that CAD one last week? anyways...that one with bomberman made me laugh. the rest were pretty weak sauce. especially that bar one. i didn't get it at all. anyone wanna fill me in so i might laugh?
deft @ Dec 14th 2008 9:07PM
Good to see Brawl in the Family in there.
It's really a great webcomic
hvnlysoldr @ Dec 14th 2008 9:18PM

Trainer Santa sent out Stantler.
Enemy Stantler's Intimidate lowered ___'s attack!
...
Trainer Santa sent out Jynx.
...
Trainer Santa sent out Delibird.
...
Trainer Santa sent out Onyx.
Trainer Santa: This lump of coal will knock you out!
...
Trainer Santa is defeated!
Trainer Santa: Fine punk, all you get for Christmas is this ironic "I fought Santa and all I got was this Holiday Greeting Card."
Received $1337
Mr Khan @ Dec 14th 2008 9:34PM
Shouldn't Santa also have Abomasnow and Empoleon?
mietha CAG @ Dec 14th 2008 11:57PM
I wanted to vote for Sidescroller for making a joke no one under 30 is going to understand, but PA literally made me LOL, so I had to. DU's wouldn't even load.
Trickob @ Dec 15th 2008 2:24AM
RM, you will be sorely missed here at the WWCWU.
Thanks for introducing me to so many other gaming comics, for better and for worse!
tacoman @ Dec 15th 2008 2:31AM
As of this post, 26 people had voted for CAD. I think you all need to take a long, hard look at yourselves and figure out where your sense of humor, wit, skill, writing ability, artistic direction, ethics, morals, and standards have gone.
David @ Dec 15th 2008 9:32AM
It's not that great, and PA is may more topical.
Roto13 @ Dec 15th 2008 10:47AM
... It IS Mr. Banana Grabber
j.howlett @ Dec 15th 2008 12:29PM
did you at least pick a logo before you decided to leave
Victor @ Dec 15th 2008 4:20PM
that CAD has already been used and anyone who voted for it is stupid
El Verde @ Dec 16th 2008 6:36PM
Ross! No! [gut-wrenching scream and fall into distance]
Thanks one last time for being one of the few who've paid attention to Sidescroller.
