Gears 2 Combustible DLC now available

Ninja announced late last night was new Gears of War 2 downloadable content that's ever so explosively named the Combustible Map Pack. We're here to tell you that it's now available for purchase via the Live Marketplace.

For 800 Microsoft points (queue controversy) and a curiously minimal 79MB of hard drive space, the Gears 2 Combustible Map Pack will add three new multiplayer maps (outlined below) that are sure to make your COG vs. Locust battles six times more enjoyable. ~~We'll post DLC assets when they become available.~~ Screenshots added.

Flood - "Features a rising flow of Imulsion that drives the fight into close quarters."
Gold Rush - "Infiltrate an Imulsion factory, where multiple levels and volatile materials guarantee memorable encounters."
Fuel Station - "Delivers a dangerous battle around an abandoned refueling facility."

Well, to assume he's 15 and has no job is a bit rash.

I'm not 15, I have a mortgage payment and other bills. Not to mention X-mas is around the corner, and with the economy the way it is we're all trying to save extra dollars.

Furthermore, with all the other games that came out in November I just don't play Gears that much.

P.S. We aren't all 20 year old guys that split the rent and weed costs with 6 other dudes. How's that for uninformed generalization?

Wah wah wah. It's 10 bucks. Cry and whine but at the end of the day it's still only 10 freaking dollars. 1,000 pennies. If that's a lot of money to you, if that's something you can't handle ... then maybe you shouldn't be wasting time posting on an xbox board getting offended by my comments? 800 ms point for maps for a game that has so many glitches online, crappy trueskill system with only 5 skill levels and poor balance? Count me out. Epic + MS, you are too funny.

Seriously, i see so many suckers actually paying for this, its ridiculous. I guess they are the same people that abuse the various glitches like invisible boomshield +shogun and unlimited ammo glitches. The same sort of people that don't care that a game they paid for was half broken on release.

As much as i loved Gears 2 single player and Horde mode, i'm done with this game online or at least until they fix the messed up multiplayer. Matchmaking has improved considerably but thats about it.

I don't see what the issue is to be honest. Yeah, glitches are a pain, but all of them can be countered with a little thought.

For example, someone glitching with the shield is as simple as getting a team mate to distract them and take them out from behind.

Glithing off the map on River, throw an Ink Grenade in there and they die. Pretty simple really.

It's a game with bugs and glitches, just like the first. But it's that random unpredictability that made me love it so much in the first place.

I don't glitch, and I wish others wouldn't too. But rather than just stop playing a game that cost me nz$110 I'd rather spend some time coming up with ways to counter the problems.

So, with that, I'll be playing on these new maps as soon as I'm home from work. Can't wait.

I was gonna get it, but then i saw the 10 bucks part. Time for a big F*CK YOU EPIC.

This game is all kinds of phail. Everyone I know has sold it on now, it's a major disappointment. Say whatever you like about Halo 3, but there's a reason it's #1 - it's quite simply got the best multiplayer.

Halo is number 1? Anyway, 800 points is way too much for 3 maps. Especially since the the maps are so friggin buggly. There's nothing like being sucked into a wall or a salt bin.

Premium DLC 3 months after a release is fine for adding new content into a game that people have had time to finish or get tired of.

Asking for 10$ in order to stay in the best matchmaking situation possible, a mere month after the games release is a little greedy.

Add the fact that for a couple of weeks the online multiplayer was having issues big enough for people to avoid the multiplayer all together and now Im F*ing mad !

Ive heard that the Gold Rush map is on the PC version of Gears of War 1. Soooo 2.5 new maps for 10 bucks. Ill pass for now.

I'll pass until their free. I love me some GoW2 even with the MP problems but $10 bucks for 3 maps one being recycled is a little steep. Too be honest Epic should eat the cost of it for the problems.

I'm gonna wait a bit and see what other gamers think of the maps before I splash any cash.

But in Epic's defence, it seems to be that there's a fine line between "OMG I haven't even finished this yet!!/Nickel & Dime!!" and "Too little too late, traded it in weeks ago!! Epic phail!/Why didn't they release it while the game was popular??!"

I'd say for gamers with a brain, the timing is bad, especially with most people waiting on a serious patch before playing again.

The matchmaking has been improved, theres no denying that but its still got issues. Whats more concerning is the large amount of glitches that have turned up in the multiplayer. Which pretty much makes any competitive public games pointless but chances are there be one guy on the other team using a glitch just to make up for his lack of skill. Weapon balance is another issue. Its a sad day when someone can run at you with a chainsaw and the shotgun can't stop them from killing you.

Couldn't agree more about the multiplayer, the maps would be for Private Live games and Horde mode only at this point!

Also, when I said "timing's good" I meant time of year (Christmas pressies) rather than time since Gears2 was released. 2 separate thoughts in my head but hard to tell when it's all typed out!

More than likely, its a month after release and already theres a map pack.. Yeah, even if it isn't on the disc, its still content they held back from shipping with the game.

3 maps for 800ms points is a joke. Halo 3 is a great game but i still find it a complete joke that even they charge that much maps for 3 maps, now its becoming a standard for MS games? At the end of the day, i don't mind buying Halo 3 maps but no way in hell is Gears 2 is getting away with it, with its poor online. At least the first Gears 1 map pack was free. Good job MS milking the game only a month after a release.

It wouldn't mind so much if the multiplayer wasn't so glitchy but its obvious they needed a public beta to test it and yet they didn't and instead we as gamers and consumers are forced to wait until they now fix it, something which Epic doesn't have a good track record with.

Higher prices are becoming the standard for everything on XBL. They'll keep doing it as long as people keep paying.

I've yet to run into any MP problems, so I don't have a beef about that, they're just too damned expensive.. 800pts for only 3 maps isn't really worth it.

This game just came out like 5 weeks ago too, fucking ridiculous.

So it's 2 new maps and one PC port that was created a year ago (i think?) and could of just as easily been on the disc.

No sale Epic. Messed up the multiplayer, messed up the matchmaking and to put the icing on the cake you're trying to sell over priced DLC.

I love gears 2, I'm not going to deny that, I have no problems matchmaking - usual wait time is about 5-10 seconds. Sure you get the occasional glitcher but with a decent team it's rarely game-breaking.

But 800 points for 2 new maps, one of which is incredibly similar to the old fuel depot map and another map from gears PC.. is ridiculous. Do epic think people will actually pay that much given the state the economy is in right now?

No-one's going to actually play these maps, cause even if you buy them the chances of running into 9 other people online that have them should be incredibly minimal, unless I totally underestimate people's stupidity. And that wouldn't be a first..

ha, $10? Microsoft and Epic can fuck off, especially considering theres SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE GAME, seemingly shitty net code with so much lag, and the glitches....oh god the glitches...

There's several problems with this DLC.

Instead of releasing it, they should be releasing a patch that has about 30 FIXES for the overall game so its fun and playable for once.

Then, 79MB? That makes me think this is really unlocking content on the disc itself. So that would mean they are charging $10 for something we already bought (the disc).

That gets me to my next point. $10 for 3 maps is just not cool. I hope you guys dont actually choke the chicken and buy this mess. They could at least announce something like they did for the last game where it will end up being free or something after a couple months.

Either way, I have been done with this game's multiplayer for WEEKS now, and the damn game just released. Can't wait to see the turd Epic throws out for Gears3, which they are probably working feverishly on already and thats why they arent supporting Gears2 already.

Epic should have coupled these maps for *FREE* along with a title update fixing or tweaking the MP in the game. That would have really boosted the XBL users but nooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!! Matchmaking is just fine for me, its the bugs in the MP that bring it down for me. Maybe on the next update I'll buy the maps. Or, if my friends buy them I guess I might cave in too.

3 maps for 800 is pretty steep.

Developers can't win with you people. Release content a month or two after release and they're gouging you and have been holding back on stuff that should be on the disc.

Three or four months after release and all you get is a sea of comments saying 'Does anyone care about this game anymore?' or 'No one cares.'

Release a real map pack that's not one PC port that could of been on the disc and two maps that from what i hear suck anyway. Instead - you know, 4 odd maps, all original, all well designed and then put it up for 800 points? Sold.

Course that is under the circumstances that the multiplayer isn't shit, so that counts gears 2 out.

Also have to take into consideration that the multiplayer isn't broken before i buy a map pack..oh..again..there goes gears.

hurray, more of the "3 maps for $10" bullshit that began with halo 3...wonderful.

here's an idea. how about we dont buy but instead demand at least 5 maps for $10?
