Sega bringing MadWorld, The Conduit to New York Comic Con
Those looking to attend next year's New York Comic Con have more to look forward to than hygiene experiments and booth babes: Sega has confirmed that it will bring demos of MadWorld, The Conduit and The House of the Dead: Overkill to the event, which takes place February 6-8 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. Special "zombie surprises" are also promised, so come prepared.
Sega hasn't revealed if any or all of these titles will be playable or merely shown off to those who happen to stroll by its booth. Not that it matters, as you'll likely go blind well before the show after meticulously gluing down individual scales in the name of Aquaman cosplay.

It's an odd world indeed when you plan to buy more SEGA games than Nintendo games for the quarter on your Nintendo console
Though it won't be true if The Conduit is pushed back to May as rumored, then it will be dead even.

It's all part of Sega's long planned revenge from Nintendo. First they made it look like they where surrendering after the Dreamcast. Then they offered peace to Nintendo. Sega befriended and got close to their long-time enemy... they even made a game joining their mascots together. It looked like a new age was born, but it was all just a farse! Now that Nintendo has lowered their defenses, BAM! Sega started stealing all of Nintendo's little kids.

LOL.
Talleh @ Dec 15th 2008 2:39PM
Wow, Sega is really looking up. They've got two genuinely original games they're publishing...sadly, neither of which will probably break the one-million mark. But they'll probably be GREAT games with NO ads, which leads to the only sales from word of mouth and online resources.
Mr Khan @ Dec 15th 2008 2:46PM
MadWorld yes. It'll suffer from Clover syndrome something bad, though probably post numbers similar to No More Heroes in the end.
The Conduit? Who knows. It's fairly high-budget, especially for a company like HVS, so they might want to invest more in to get more out. Though we can't judge whether the game will just be cool eye candy, or will really have lasting appeal until we look at the multiplayer, which has yet to be revealed

I have a good feeling for MadWorld's success chances. Assuming Sega doesn't chicken shit out of promoting the game, it's a weird enough sort of novelty to at least come within striking distance of a million. It'll almost SURELY get mainstream coverage, at any rate.
The Conduit, though...I don't have terribly high hopes for. I'm sure it won't be an outright flop, but Microsoft has the shooter crowd locked up and boxed. Sony did their best to make a dent with a system that goes head to head with the 360, and they arguably failed.

Why does everyone say that NMH did horrible? Suda 51 must have thought that it did good enough to warrant a sequel. Oh and he said he'd only do it if it sold good. So I think it did alright.
Wiinterfang @ Dec 15th 2008 10:47PM
The Conduit looks terrible and generic, they should at least make it more interesting or have better art direction =/.
Evan @ Dec 15th 2008 2:45PM
These games will fail. Anyone interested in violent games and shooters owns a 360 or PS3.
Mr Khan @ Dec 15th 2008 2:49PM
Remember: Failure is defined by expectations. No More Heroes was a success. Mirror's Edge, despite selling more than NMH, is a failure
baby sea tuna @ Dec 15th 2008 2:51PM
Before you get voted into oblivion, I would like to respectfully disagree. Mad World and HoTD:Overkill are the only 2 Wii games coming in the next year that I'm even remotely interested in...even with all the great violent games coming to the HD consoles (GoW3 anyone?)
Dirty @ Dec 15th 2008 2:57PM
Children love violence.

You wouldn't know it from all the complaining about the Wii's library that goes on around here
Moptimus Slime @ Dec 15th 2008 4:31PM
Evan, Baby sea Tuna:
Heres the point of making these games
Heres You
any questions?
NukeAssault @ Dec 15th 2008 3:05PM
Sweet, cant wait to try out The Conduit.

Looks like SEGA is turning over a new leaf... now if they can just make a good Sonic game. No 3D. No voice acting. No rollercoaster simulations. Just make a solid sidescrolling platformer. Have the MadWorld developers make it; they can give it some style!
Paviel @ Dec 15th 2008 5:01PM
Is it really a new leaf? I am reminded of Sega's old slogan about doing "what Nintendon't", and it sure seems like Sega is doing just that, at least in the FPS department.
Just as long as Madworld and The Conduit actually turn out to be better FPS's than Metroid Prime 3, of course...
Nigeria @ Dec 15th 2008 5:27PM
Madworld isn't a FPS.

3 more reasons for me to attend NY Comicon this coming year woohoo!
