Brutal Legend looks awesome. GTA looks awesome.

But GoW? It looks exactly like GoW2 and GoW 1. I've been lied to.

I don't mean literally of course, what I do mean is that GoW3 looks like a typical sequel of a last gen game with better game. Which is kind of disappointing since we were promised that, GoW3 WOULD BE NOTHING WE'VE EVER SEEN BEFORE!!!

Yes, but Jaffe made a big deal about this game saying it would be nothing gamers have ever seen before. And yet it looks like a prettier version of GoW2.

Yes it is an old build, how old who knows, and WHY would Sony show an old build to one of the most anticipated and sure to be scrutinized games on the PS3?

Maybe they want to build hype slowly...but I would prefer not showing it at all vs. showing an old build. Yes it looks good, the HD trailer on Spike on my Panny made it look much better than the SD version you see here. But looking good is not good enough, it needs to look like nothing we have seen b4.

According to Jaffe, the build he saw blew him away, I firmly believe that what he saw was real and just as impressive as he has said...but I still do not understand why Sony would invite more negativity to the PS3. Puzzling indeed.

More than likely we will have to wait till June to see what Jaffe saw and who knows...maybe they do not want to make KZ2 look DATED b4 launch.

Uncharted 2 looks yummy delicioumoose. And Jack Black was the only thing that made Spike's pathetic VGA's bearable. At times I thought I had tuned into a music awards show.

Pathetic Spike...pathetic.

well, Killjebus, it could be very well that they want to do what they did with KZ2, they hyped it, then released something that wasn't a la par with what they promised, and then in the end showed a game that visually surpasses almost everything else shown on consoles thus far...

The other thing could be that they want to show a better/bigger build on any upcoming video game conference such as GC

What is with Spike TV (aka) Gametrailers TV and their HATE for Sony?

Here is a comparison shot of the trailer shown in "HD" on the VGA's vs. the trailer available for DL on the PSN.

Notice how blury and washed out the GT one is vs. the PSN one.

Errr, Killjebus, you're comparing a 1080p source to something that's not even in 720p, much less 1080p.

Not to mention that the TV that first shot is taken on is in super bright store-mode, aka super torch high contrast black crush mode.

Because maybe, just maybe most (the real audience of the show that don't follow websites like this)of the audience watching the VGA's don't care so much for graphics as they care about "OMGZ BLUD, GORE!!1"

Sony showed this to show it, nothing more. Their real blowout will probably be a "Sony day" or GDC.

You know, I thought people would learn by what happened with Killzone 2, the game now is much much much more impressive texture/lighting/animation/modeling than it was last year. Sony Santa Monica provided arguably the best looking PS2 series, do any of you think they would fail to impress us graphically?

I was thinking the same thing (that it didn't look like something special).

Isn't Jaffe off the design and production team for this game? I guess that could mean two things potentially; A) that it won't be good because it will be too different, or, 3) it will be good because it will be different.

We didn't see much that makes it stand out, but I am sure if you are a GOW fan, you are peeing your pants in anticipation right now.

I'm torn about God of War. Yes, the gameplay on the first 2 were awesome, but I'm worried they're just going to keep the same elements, but just include different weapons and better graphics.

I'm hoping they can make the bosses even better (if that's possible), and add a bit more of overall strategy, so it doesn't feel like you're merely mashing buttons.

God of war is meant to be a button masher, if you want more strategy, maybe you should wait for Team Ico to finish up. Adding strategy to God of war that involves too much thinking would only frustrate dedicated fans of the game if it is too much, personally if Ready at Dawn was going to do that, I'd rather they just make a new IP. That would be like picking up a Tekken after not playing it from Tekken 2 days and suddenly you can't slam buttons but instead have to think, I'd be like WTF?!?!?! And put the controller down.

God of War IS a button masher. some games employ more strategy. this one doesn't. i dont pick up a GoW game expecting to do anything but mash buttons, kick ass with "OMG!" worthy brutality, and solve a couple puzzles. you probably shouldnt either.

that's like when MGS4 came out and people were complaining about the cut scenes. that's what that game series has always done so why would people be surprised about it (and even take off points in reviews)?

it's a series, the games are supposed to be much of the same thing you enjoyed from the last with some new extras (story, weapons, characters, moves, etc.). if you want to change the base game elements, then you make a spin-off (ala Halo Wars to Halo series). but then they wouldnt call it God of War 3, would they?

Disgaea 3 was also made for the PS3, as was Time Crisis 4. Just because the tech's there doesn't mean they have to use it

Though in God of War's case, it might be a requirement

I can't believe you guys couldn't see the difference between that and the PS2 versions. There were several instances where I thought it looked really good. The character models felt solid like they had weight and all.

I can do the same and say where did you get that this isn't an early build though?

Anyway, reasons as to why many (including me) are saying that this is an early build

Sony likes to show games months, at times years, before they are released, and this is the second official information that we get. Not only that, Sony hasn't even given an approximate release date like they always do (and never meet), and last but not least, because even Jaffe before the actual show mentioned that what was to be shown at VGA was not a la par with what he has seen.

So you tell me, how is it that you could think that this isn't an early build?

This is by far no an ugly version, hell, at the current state it could very well be amongst the best when it comes to visuals.

Now, as for the reason, probably they just want to underpromise so they can overachieve? its working with KZ2, so yah...

GoW still leaves A LOT to be desired...I'll wait for more footage before i judge...Uncharted 2 looks freakin SICK!! (that is all IN GAME ENGINE btw) everything else is very meh, although I'm curious about Brutal legend, for the laughs at least.

If I were making a purchase based solely upon those videos, Uncharted 2 would be the only game I'd consider. The GoW teaser looked uninspired, the Brutal Legend teaser made me realize why this game struggled to find publishing support, and my mind was made up a while ago to buy the GTAIV DLC as it's released.

Brutal Legend looks good in the same way a Pixar Animation Studios movie looks good. It has some impressive visuals, and the trailer ends on a slightly humorous note which caters to a younger audience. The game-play footage in the trailer was really underwhelming, even though it was one of the only trailers that had in-game video. I'm interested in seeing more of Drake's Fortune footage (How's he going to get out of this pickle?!), but that's will most likely be a couple months from now.

It's nice to get excited about having a PS3 for once. Uncharted 2: check. GoW3: check.

Any to anyone having doubts about GoW3, I wouldn't worry about it; just go look at the making of God of War 2 and see how much testing and stress was put on the developers to make the game good. The guys didn't sleep and were wore out making it good.

If you took Jaffe's words seriously instead of waiting to make up your own mind, you're a bit of a plank to be honest. Then again, the trailer hardly shows a think, I expected a bit more....I dunno, material?

Uncharted 2 looks superb, but why did it end just like that? Thats a bloody cocktease! Now I dunno if he'll climb back up, fall to his demise or what :O Well I do know he'll survive, otherwise there would be no game to play. :D
