True to our word, we've returned with the second string of Video Game Award 2008 videos -- the "B" squad, if you will. It's not that these clips aren't exciting, they're just ... less so. Right after the break check out Dante's Inferno, Watchmen, Terminator Salvation, Mafia II and Fight Night Round 4.
So, what's the verdict? Do these clips have you pumped for 2009? Or are you holding out judgment until you can see a little more gameplay and fewer cinematics?
I liked the Mafia II trailer, but not my type of game. Dante's Inferno looks interesting though. I really want to know more about what you, the player, do and see some gameplay. I'll be keeping an eye on it.
I liked Dead Space, but I'm going to stay clear of this one. I probably WOULD get offended by it. Fine with me. Plenty of games in the world to play that I could skip one.
I read the Comedy and thought it was one of the best things I've ever read.
That being said, the game is "based" on the stories, so I can't complain to much. It doesn't look like the kind of game I would be interested in playing anyways.
The only thing that annoys me is the fact that a lot of kids will play this game and get an incredibly fucked up idea of what the Inferno is actually about.
I read the condensed version of Dante's Inferno in High School. That was years ago so I don't remember too many details. But I do remember really enjoying it. I can remember the basics of a few levels of hell and that's all. Maybe I should pick the whole book up and give it a read. Either way I'll gamefly this game. Looks good enough for that at the least
Watchmen... well, i love the franchise, and it looks pretty good for a download only game... though the comic wasn't really about action. Would have made a better adventure game imho.
Terminator: well, they could release Carebears adventures with the terminator music and i'd get sucked in... doubt it'll live up to Future Shock though...
First off i'd like to clarify that I am an aethiest. Yet, I found that Dante's Divine Comedy was a VERY interesting read. Now they're turning this into a your super hero Virgil or Dante and your going to clense hell? Come on!
From Dante's Inferno, wasn't Limbo supposed to be for non-believers and was like all of the greatness of Earth, except lacking a divine touch (as if something was always missing)?
According to the book, the limbo is also the place where babies who have died without baptism spend eternity in a state of happiness but not in the presence of God.
If I remember from English class a long time ago, Lingo was like the waiting room for heaven, but instead of filling out forms and applications, they would burn away your sin through a series of tests and trials. Idk I only read the Hell one, this is just what I was told a long time ago
the watchmen one doesnt look that bad. I mean I'm a huge fan of the comic so ill buy it either way but I mean, nobody expected this to be ground breaking world changing GOTY stuff did they?
