yeah, I think someone did the math wrong? It's more like USD$36,000 is like $1.7mn Indian Rupees.
Unless the article was referring to some other kind of dollar...?

I'm guessing Joystiq forgot the Rupee is the national currency of India. At the current exchange rate (sourced from Xe.com), 1 million US Dollars is about 48 million Rupees.
