All of that stuff is really cool, but I can't but help associate a dollar value to these "Coins." If a Wii game = 50 coins (and it does), then that's basically like saying 1 coin = 1 dollar. So then we're kind of talking about a $300 Wii Remote holder, or an $800 Game & Watch Collection. I understand that it's supposed to be "rewards," but I'd really rather just have the option to buy the swag at a reasonable MSRP than have to buy 8-10 Wii Games to get a nifty trinket.

Actually no, because you aren't getting back the entire cost of the GAME you bought as a reward, you are getting a percentage bonus. Buying a game and registering does not mean we get an entire second game of the same price, it means we get bonus points.

So if we look at the math, which I'm not going to, you can, each point is worth $6.25 Thats $6.25 refund or credit towards a new game. Not bad.

Bleh, bad math. I mean, 50 points equals $6.25

20 points per $1 basically

I think the idea here is that you're gonna buy games anways - why not get some mario bookends why you're at it?

You don't buy the games to get the swag, you get the swag for buying the games.

Well, it's actually more like if you buy $800 worth of Nintendo games (that's MSRP, though), you'll get a free bonus game.

Not much better, but still.

"You don't buy the games to get the swag, you get the swag for buying the games."

I understand what you mean, but this is like saying that they're offering the Club Nintendo program just because they are cool, nice, generous people. While Nintendo makes some incredible products, following the video game industry in general over the past couple of decades has lead me to believe that Nintendo is not a company of cool, nice, generous people. It is a company of a few creative people mixed with shrewd businessmen and an effective marketing department. They would not "reward" loyalty if they didn't have reason to believe that doing so would result in even greater overall profits.

Jenny Lee, I am 100% not following you. Nintendo's FAQ regarding Club Nintendo has the following breakdown:

Wii games = 50 Coins
Nintendo DS games = 30 Coins
Wii Shop Channel games and Wii Channels = 10 Coins

Math was never my best subject, but here's the math that I did: One new Wii game costs about $50. One Wii game is worth 50 CN Coins. I'm clearly missing something that you are not, or something, because this looks like a pretty clear 1:1 ratio. In order to earn 300 Coins, I would have to buy approximately six Wii Games. Of course, this is highly simplified, because I'm not taking into account great budget titles like Zack & Wiki or Blast Works. Anyway, back to the scenario. Six top-shelf Wii Games will set me back about $300. So going back to the apparent 1:1 ratio, 300 Coins = about $300? I'm not trying to be a jerk, and maybe I'm just making myself look even more like an idiot, but I have no idea where you are getting the data for this math you told me you weren't going to do. I never said anything about getting "an entire second game" of any price. I'm just trying to process what you suggest, that if a Wii game = 50 Coins, and if a Wii game = $50, then 50 Coins = $6.25. Like I said, I must be missing something, because that looks like a totally arbitrary number. I'm taking into account the fact that this whole discussion is rather pedantic, and that obviously Club Nintendo Coins have no literal monetary value. But they do have a representative value, and that's what's important here; not whether or not a Coin actually is a dollar, but that it could be said to represent a dollar, and that Nintendo has a lot to gain by giving you an item with a probable real-world value of $20-$30 (like the Game & Watch DS collection) as a "bonus" for spending $800 on their retail merchandise.

Wii Shop channel purchases giving 10 coins throw that cost theory out the window, since World of Goo ($15) and MegaMan 3 ($5) both end up giving you 10 coins.

I DEFINITELY want that Game and Watch collection at some point.

Most of the other trinkets don't really quirk me, like the DS cases + stylii. Already have too many.

We shall see if they release anything else of interest.

Whoa there, I think you should change your draw there. Also, your name.

Also, don't type in all caps.

Only games that have that separate "Register your software" that contain a computer-printed PIN number are eligible. I looked through my Gamecube games and none seemed to have those. This is mostly only newer (DS/Wii) official Nintendo first-party releases (though Brain Age 2 had one also).

The site seems borked right now, though -- I was able to enter one game, got coins, then got kicked and now can't log back in. I requested a password reset, go the email, but the password reset page isn't working, either. Sigh.

I just went over there to sign up, and I have about 7 wii games and 3 DS games here all with PIN numbers and everything, but the site won't accept any of them! Can anyone help me? Is there a certain way you have to type in the PIN?

And to answer the post - I'm itching for that Game+Watch collection, which is why this is driving me insane.

I'm having a similar issue. After I enter a pin the site will load for a minute, then act like I didn't do anything. It will also sometimes kick me out and tell me that I need to register... which I obviously already did.

Hopefully these kinks will be worked out.

All my WiiWare titles didn't get me anything. Except World of Goo. That's pretty irritating. Maybe the retroactive points are still coming though.

I'd think that atleast Strong Bad games would be recent enough for some points.

It rejects my FireFox, for some reason, so i've been using Internet Explorer 7. But the whole site is running slow as molasses

Obviously i want the Game and Watch collection. I never bothered to pick up any of the GB/GBC/GBA collections, or the E-Reader. Even if its only a few GAW games, i need to have them.

It works fine on Firefox for me. You using FireFox3? Don't forget to unblock Nintendo from NoScript if you're using that.

Anyway, I want the Stylus set and Game Card holder... Mario themed one, obviously.

They need to get this crap working. I have a feeling this isn't going to be fixed until after New Years or something and they wanted to get the service technically running by the end of the year. >_>

don't hurt me, but I'm actually not interested in the game and watch collection. Most of the bonuses are meh, but the playing cards are nice. I'll probably hoard all my coins until something really catches my eye.

The site is a mess, randomly logging me out and only registering my surveys maybe once out of every three times I submit one for a single game. At least my registrations are eventually going through...not that my combined Wii/DS efforts over the past years are getting me anywhere close to the Game & Watch Collection, though =/

Also, nobody panic if you complete a survey and the site tells you that you've earned 0 points. I was about to blow a gasket after receiving points for Brawl but not for Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn until I went back to the "Earn Coins" tab where my rightful 50 coins had been added to my coin total. The site is just really buggy and doesn't show what it's supposed to in some places.

Anyone else unable to even log in? I migrated my account with it, but every time I enter my info and log in it cheerfully tells me it can help me migrate my account.

Also pretty disappointed that I already registered Animal Crossing City Folk a couple of weeks ago. If I had waited I'd have the 50 points.

If you are having trouble logging in to Club Nintendo using Firefox then try IE7. Even today the site is VERY slow.

Don't worry, once you login you should be able to get the surveys that get you the coins for qualifying games that you have already registered.

If you want to see what are the qualifying games go to http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/club/en/faq.jsp#vers and click on Product Registration. There will be a list about 1/2 way down.

Oh, and Wii Fit is 80 coins, not 50. No bonus for Links Crossbow Training however...

However, now that they migrated the account of My Nintendo to Club Nintendo, will all the games I registered in the past still be registered? :(

If you go into your Account page on the Club Nintendo site, it will show you all your old games, so my assumption is they haven't coded the transfer rate for them yet...which is something they really should have done or tested before they unveiled the new system.

well, at least I haven't actually registered my copy of AC:CF. I've had it a month and i haven't registered it, so I'll get 50 coins for that.

I'll be watching to see if they get those transferred cause I had several games registered and I'd hate to lose those, even though I won't get any coins for previous registrations (which is so stupid).

I can't do anything with Firefox or Internet Explorer. It asked me to migrate my account, and after that, when I try to log in, it says my password is wrong. Even when I change it, it still says my password is wrong. The website definitely has a lot of bugs that need to be fixed.

I've never played Hanafuda (never heard of it until Club Nintendo), but those cards are much too pretty to not pick up. But, alas, the Game and Watch Collection is also something I desperately need, and as soon as I buy either one something better will come out.

For Christmas I am getting Wii Music, another 50. Hopefully I'll be able to buy a DS game or something with the money I get, pushing me to Platinum!
