I'm really excited about this game. I'm just worried that Activision will ruin the experience.

If they do it right, this will be the first Guitar Hero that I buy since Guitar Hero 3.

If they do it right like GHWT, it won't sell much.

Wow whore much! guitar hero 1, 2, 3, world tour, 80s, aerosmith, on tour, ot decades, and now metallica. Theyve almost caught up with Tony Hawk now. Rockband knows how to do dlc thats why its better I dont know how people still support Guitar Hero.

I concur. I think Guitar Hero: World Tour is horrid. It just looks too...cheesy and cheap to me. Oh well. I'm biased anyway.

GH has turned to shit. The graphics in the recent games are atrocious!

I think I'm done buying plastic guitar games. RB2 gives me more new songs than I could possibly play through. Why would I shell out $60 on a disc product that offers nothing new?

Agreed.

Only problem with Rock Band... is that Rock Band might be going this route.

They just released Rock Band AC/DC... I'm sure more will follow.

Yeah, but RB: AC/DC was released because AC/DC wouldn't let them do it as DLC. Not to mention it was designed more as an add-on pack for RB1/2 rather than a new game with new instruments.

Heard of the Harmonix's Beatles project lately?

They all go that route.

there are a LOT of musicians who make a LOT less that either don't complain about downloads or are ok with them.

Look at it this way. Not sure if you are working or are still school, but it would be like someone showing up at your place of business saying they really liked your product, and were there to take it home. However they arent going to pay you for it, because it should be free. Wouldn't it be great if everything was free? lol

I understand that, but art is intangible that makes it tricky. As a musician myself I get that it sucks to not be paid for my hard work, but I also don't make the kind of money they make (50,000,000 a year when they tour). I find it hard to be sympathetic when someone who makes that kind of money for performing complains about poor college students (who shovel out 50-100 to see them in concert) downloading their crappy new music. (shrugs)

Haven't really been paying attention to the numbers have ya? GHWT is selling just fine.

And just so you know Guitar Hero I, II and 80's, were all developed by Harmonix, the creators of Rock Band. Neversoft's first GH project was GH III.

juangrande thats not really a legit argument. first of all it originally game out on ps2 which didnt offer DLC and then they got WT which came with extra instruments. and OT and Decades are on the DS which also has no DLC. so they have a reason for releasing a lot of games

This is the first time I've seen a blog slower than a magazine. Gameinformer didn't have the date but had everything else. Why have you been acting like this game wasn't announced? GH;WT by the way is fantastic and probably has a better soundtrack. Rock Band's soundtrack only felt better because I was always playing the dlc I already had with the new stuff. If your a huge fan of either one of these franchises you should own both otherwise your missing out big time.

Getting out of the flame wars between GH and RB..

I so buying this game!!, it's fucking awesome!, they just anounced that Enter Sandman, Master of Puppets and Fuel will be in this GH.. this game will have a better soundtrack than GHWT imo, so it's a lot more worth buying... CAN'T WAIT for this game and Rock Band 3 next year (i'm almost sure it'll come out next year)

I sure hope they include bands that are better than Metallica (i.e Dream Theater, Megadeth, etc.) , although it would be embarrassing for Metallica. (lol probably more embarrassing for Dream Theater to be incuded in a Metallica game)
