Stores don't sell PS1 games these days.

Just try good ol torrent sites. If your PS1 disc is scratched or non-existant then just search torrents for "PS1 PSX" games, there are many!

I tried to warn you but my reply was never posted. People have a dim view of pirating around here.

Don't try using 'oh I cant find zem' as an excuse.

Most likely we won't be seeing a second analog til PSP2...

Even then, if there is a touchscreen, I really doubt they will be adding a second analog stick, it doesn't seem needed, anyway, I guess we would have to wait :(

Au contraire, Noshino. The second stick is the *only* thing that is needed on the PSP.

Well, that and maybe more than 5 good games.

If I could pick some features I'd really like to see on a PSP2:
1. Second analog stick
2. HDMI output (via dock?)
3. Bluetooth (A2DP, data via phone, Dual Shock 3 support)
4. PSP-to-PS3 compatibility - buy PSP game on PSN store, play it on PS3 as well (maybe with enhancements).
5. Native DLNA client and server (!) with better codec support.
6. SDHC cards instead of memory sticks (well, I can dream!)

For bonus points, implement the following:
1. Toss the UMD drive, digital downloads only.
2. Integrated camera.
3. Integrated GPS.
4. Accelerometer.
5. Touchscreen.
6. Axe power connector, charge only through mini-USB.

i hope they don't put a touch screen on it - they'll get it all wrong.

i dig the idea of the second analog... as long as they place everything properly. and no more nubs please!

@ erwos

why would you need an HDMI port? im sure the thing will be powerful but i doubt it will be able to produce anything that would be high def.

i wouldnt want to see them go digital download only either since my connection is piss poor (and im sure im not the only one who has this problem). they may very well axe the UMD drive since its obviously not as pirate proof as they originally believed it to be but they would most likely opt for a propriety flash card for in store sales along with PSN digital download.

everything else you said is certainly do-able and would be welcomed additions to an already feature rich product.

I too would like to see them add a second stick. I don't know why that suddenly seems like a bad idea to people. Further, dump the UMD format - I know they won't, but it seems like a failure at this point.

Why HDMI? Nothing to do with HD, and everything to do with only having to plug _one_ cable into my TV/receiver. I don't care if it only outputs at 480p.

I could see touchscreen support being handy, but it's not a necessity (like I wrote).

PSN Home integration would be neat, too, but considering the nightmare it was to get it working in the first place, I wouldn't put my hopes on it.

GPS? Really?

No, what they need is:

- Accelerometer (So developers can use it if they want)
- Touch Screen (Again, if the developers think of something cool, they have the abillity to use it!)
- Second Analog Stick (Seriously, the psp is so awkward to play)
- Better Ergonomics (SERIOUSLY!, The PSP is so awkard to play)

Hopefully the new PSP will have a decent analog stick (like the Zodiac) or two and a screen free of any issues (whether it's a slow response time or interlacing problems).

I don't buy the PSP 4k story. But the PSP2 story is easier to believe. It's been four years since it came out (JP Dec 04), so a new PSP next year would be after 4.5-5 years of release. Not entirely impossible that it'd be true.

Matter of fact, I'd be surprised if we didn't get an announcement of the PSP 2 before E3.

No PSP 4k though, what more incremental could they add?

I think they could really use what they have learned and make a good ver 2. I think it should be based around an online distribution model now that they have established the store. Give it min 8 gigs of built in storage and publish all games on MS Duos and PSN.

I've already bought 2 PSPs over the years, not going to buy any more.

Maybe Sony can spend more time making the PS3 better instead of messing around in the handheld market.

Xbox doesn't seem to be hurting by not having a handheld.

Don't get me wrong, I like my PSP-2K and my PS3...but a PSP-4K would just be dumb.

Why is the PSP is still 200$, plus the cost of a memory card, plus the cost of some sort of protective gear to keep the incredibly flimsy and cheap PSP from snapping in half, plus the cost of a new battery if you actually want to be able to play the PSP away from a power outlet for more than 20 minutes, plus the cost of.....oh, who cares.

Cheap and flimsy? I've never gotten that impression in the 100 times I've dropped my PSP-1000 (day one japanese model). Thing is like a tank. Sure, my screen has a scratch in it, and has had dust in it since the early days... but I have complaints with that thing.

The only time I felt the second analog nub was lacking was with metal gear : PO. Probably a legitimate complaint with PS1 games though.

Also, I'm still getting probably 5 hours out of my original battery. Try charging yours.

You probably don't charge your battery or you bunked it somehow or just got a bum one. But my guess is on option A. I can play my PSP for quite some time before needing a charge. And here in the states, for 200 bucks you get a PSP, a game, a protective screen cover and a 1 gig mem stick.

Business-wise, it would make sense to give the development of a second PSP to the Sony-Ericson folks.
It would help both the videogame and cell phone divisions, and stop Apple from dominating the phone/game raising niche.

It's PS2P not PSP2

I've had the argument before with a friend. It's called the Playstation Portable PS-P. If you have a portable PS2, then it would be the PS2-P Damn it!
