GameStop: Pre-order GTA: Chinatown Wars, get (in-game) guns and money

Forget gold-plated Lancers and exclusive costumes – GameStop is offering guns and cash to those who pre-order Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars in advance of its March 17 release. Of course, they aren't real guns and the dough is, sadly, digital.
Pre-order the game and you'll start out with every weapon and $100,000 in your tiny little polygonal pockets. GameStop hasn't said exactly how this will work (if it's a code, it would be on the internets a nanosecond later) but we're figuring it'll involve one of those newfangled voucher codes or some such. Or, you could play the game and get the satisfaction of earning – nay, achieving – something all by yourself. A novel concept, we know.

Cheap bastards, can't even afford to give us real money and guns. Death to Gamestop!!!!!!
mr nimblewick @ Dec 17th 2008 8:54PM
If only we had non-in-game guns! GAR!!!

I have never met anyone who hasn't cheated at least once to get this stuff in GTA. I guess RockStar knows their players...

What a stupid preorder bonus. Developers should give actually neat, exclusive items. They don't have to be expensive to produce, heck they can be digital, just make them fun and exlusive. Although the best preorder bonus ever would be a Wiimote Samus Arm Cannon...
juju187 @ Dec 17th 2008 8:47PM
so there isnt codes in this one >.>
creid @ Dec 17th 2008 8:50PM
What the hell? I don't want to start with every gun.
CynicalStrike @ Dec 17th 2008 9:33PM
Sure you do. Didn't you hear that concepts such as "challenge", "reward" and "a sense of accomplishment" are completely optional in most games now? How long until 360 games come with a 100% complete, 1000GS savegame as a pre-order bonus?
jackbauer @ Dec 17th 2008 8:50PM
where are the free hookers?!
mr nimblewick @ Dec 17th 2008 8:56PM
I believe free hookers are just called sluts. And they are all over the place.

Cool I'm coming to your house in that case. Sounds like fun.

It seems like companies are striving so hard to put a pre-order bonus on each and every game that comes out that they're now offering stuff that there is no point in offering.
Really, every gun and $100,000 in a game where part of the struggle is obtaining money and guns? Of course you can still play the game, but now you don't have the satisfaction of anything.

maybe activate through wifi, like "downloading" Yugioh cards.

Ok, seriously, you guys need to learn how to read. A: It's $10k, not $100k. B: It says "immediate access to the entire arsenal". I guarantee you that means you'll be able to BUY every gun, that you you will HAVE every gun. BIG difference.
mietha CAG @ Dec 17th 2008 9:55PM
Should read "not that you will HAVE every gun." Grrr
MBO @ Dec 17th 2008 10:19PM
UM... wut about the cheats that were in the other gta games? do these sound familier?

JRM @ Dec 17th 2008 10:33PM
Not good enough.
I want something real, in my hands, if I'm going to lock myself into buying something at their store.
like a promotional poster, novelty stylus, action figure, t-shirt, whatever. just not something trivial like in-game guns (maybe).
invaderalex @ Dec 17th 2008 10:37PM
You know what i think they should do...
If you preorder it, they should splash you with confetti and say "congrats, your not pirating this game"
No punchline
Uncontrol @ Dec 17th 2008 11:41PM
i would preorder for this and i'm not even planning on buying this game
BigD145 @ Dec 17th 2008 11:08PM
Action Replay, anyone?
Uncontrol @ Dec 17th 2008 11:39PM
who gives a shit about actually earning things in GTA, i just want to cause havoc
WiredKnight @ Dec 17th 2008 11:53PM
I am so tired of retailers breaking games just to get a few pre-orders.
Rhamsey @ Dec 18th 2008 12:08AM
step 1:insert game
step 2:????
step 3:profit
step 4:throw away game as its already completed for you
Bucket @ Dec 18th 2008 12:33AM
Throw some lawyers in there, you've got a good song.
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Dec 18th 2008 12:51PM
I remember when I visted Gamestop in Seattle; they didn't had any games just boxes full of lies and promises.
Anyway remeber when GTA was on the PSP as well? God damn piracy.
I probably wait for the review of this one, there are like 8 DS games I want but I don't have the time to play any of them.
