Resident Evil 5 demo in early 2009 for US

Remember that Resident Evil 5 demo? The one that was originally up for grabs via Xbox Live for anyone with a Japanese account, but was taken down? Well, it's going to be officially released in the US in early 2009, according to Capcom.
The publisher held an RE5 co-op multiplayer event last night in San Francisco, at which we were given this vague date and played some previously unseen levels. Levels which we'll be able to share more on with you tomorrow. We also played the demo in question, which was in English and seemed perfectly fit to go live, er ... now.

If you ask me, it does not make much sense to release a demo earlier than a month before release. Those who are on the bubble regarding this game will be enough satisfaction from the demo and will not buy it. I think I find myself in that category right now. I've played the demo and I was not blown away by anything. Thus, I'll probabaly rent it or buy it used sometime far down the road.

So can people still download, burn to DVD, and play the demo on a U.S. xbox, or has that workaround been eliminated?

Shortly after the demo released in Japan, I downloaded it off a torrent site (I live in the US). It worked fine. A few days later, I read that the demo's online co-op had been disabled for non-Japanese accounts. I didn't test this, but I'm sure I would have been denied. A few days later I burned the demo for a co-worker, and he told me it didn't work. Puzzled, I tried my own copy (the one that worked perfectly before) EPIC FAIL! Damn you Microsoft or Capcom, whoever's responsible for cock-blocking me.
All I can say is that this game will be every bit as good (and even better) than RE4. There are several control schemes, which include one that resembles RE4, and another which gives the player the ability to strafe. The action is frantic and intense. I can't wait for this!

What you have to do is sign out of Live to play the demo. It doesnt let you boot it until then. As soon as you're in it, then you can sign back in.

When I am signed into Xbox Live and try to play the copy I burned to a disc, it won't let me play. However, I sign out, and it works just fine. So, as long as you aren't signed in, you can play it.

hopefully the demo will be available for the PS3 this time. if not then i'll just download the 360 demo, then purchase the PS3 version in Feb/March.

For the price of that thing he has the right to brag. When I get mine I won't stop posting how awesome it is (Here is at 750$ but includes Littlebigplanet and Resistance, Sadly that's the best price I could get from an official retail store).

as opposed to the myraid of useful posts i find on this site, all of which are riddled with such ovbious fanboyism? word to the wise: a person having a preference for a certain game on a certain system does not mean that person likes that system more or less than any other system. replace Resident Evil 5 with any multiplatform fps, and you would've gotten the same response from me...but in the 360's favor. satisfied now?

I'm enjoying the fact that Capcom hasn't released ANY information on whether or not the demo is arriving for the PS3 at the same date as the 360 counterpart. I find it especially disconcerting that it was available exclusively for the 360 in JAPAN.
Answer? My guess is MS moneybags...

Capcom hasn't quite made it past the point of getting enough experience working with the PS3 and the end result MAY be a slightly downgraded version (I dare not say port). My logic? Look at Fallout 3. While not horrible, the differences are noticeable... even though Oblivion was made better on the PS3, which completely ruins my point...
Oh well. Heres hoping to a fantastic Resident Evil 5 next year. Cheers.

Resident Evil 5 has been given an official European and US release date of Friday 13th March 2009, on both PS3 and Xbox 360, Capcom confirmed during Microsoft's E3 press conference.

Capcom is a Japanese game developer, and it will sell very well in Japan. From my understanding RE games are like Halo, GoW etc are here. On top of that, the game will be released in Japan first.

What I don't get is that the copy I d/led was in full blown english aside from the title being Biohazard instead of Resident Evil... so why the hell is it taking them so long to release to the US? It works fine as is and obviously works on our Xboxes... maybe they're setting up the servers? I dunno.

Let me guess, Capcom...for Xbox only? They were all over PS2 last gen'. This time around though....bye bye Monster Hunter. No Dead Rising port, no Jpn RE5 demo on PSN.
