Really ? For the iPhone ? Whatever. There are really people interested in playing games using a touch screen on their phone. Have fun with that.

Anyone who says the iPhone isn't a gaming platform is an idiot. It's every bit as powerful as any of the last gen consoles - with a lot of people saying it's just as good as or better than the PSP. The only thing holding the iPhone back from stealing the handheld market is the fact that it doesn't have tactile controls. And with numerous handheld-influenced iPhone controllers currently in the making, you better start taking the iPhone more seriously. It recently surpassed the RAZR as the most popular (highest selling) phone in the US. Combine that with the runaway popularity of the App Store and you've got a platform that could very well blow every other handheld system out of the water.

iPhone is Better,

The iPhone isn't a gaming platform, though. You're paying a monthly fee and entered (at least) a two year long contract just for basic functionality. Those two things alone prevent it from being taken seriously, especially when you can get an iPod Touch for roughly the same amount of money with faster hardware.

As far as performance goes, it's not as powerful as the original Xbox or Gamecube; it's roughly on par with a PS2, but that's not exactly a particularly high technical hurdle to jump nor is it praise worthy since the system's been out for almost 9 years now.

Power doesn't mean a dang thing. Popularity doesn't mean a dang thing. You need controls to play a game and that's all there is to it. I'm sure there will be some good games for it, but that doesn't make it a gaming platform.

oh come on guys...

let's just face it, the entire MGS team wanted free iPhones so they asked for a bunch of ones to "test out software" on and they'll crank out a halfway decent game on it, then keep the phones or iPod touches.

Same kinda thing with GT5, you just know they're "borrowing" every cool car on the planet to 'test for handling' yeah... I got dibs on 'testing' that new Audi.
