You nintendo fanboys are so defensive (for good reason I suppose). I wasn't even bashing anything, just saying that these two games are basically identical gameplay wise. If you can prove me wrong then by all means go for it.

I'll have a go at it then. Splatterhouse is a remake of a game that was originally released in American arcades in 1989, and Mad World is a completely new IP. Is that good enough? No? Ok then...

All that has been seen of Splatterhouse so far are a handful of screenshots, and a video which shows nothing more than Rick just standing around for a split second. No gameplay has been shown yet, so it would be impossible for anyone to say that the gameplay of Splatterhouse is identical to any title, let alone Mad World.

Both of you failed.

Ridiculous is my opinion. I hate anything black and white, specially "new" stuff as I think it's a lazy way to make something.

No. It's a nice story, but completely irrelevant to the topic of the discussion. Read the EGM coverstory if you want more details on the game. The two look to be just about the same.

Oh really Tmac? Lets look at your statement without the word ridculous.

Well would you look at that, it doesnt sound like troll bait anymore! If you dont want to be accussed of being a trol dont try to sound like one.

You conveniently glossed over the part where I mentioned no Splatterhouse gameplay has been shown yet. Maybe EGM has played both games, but I don't read printed publications since I'm no fan of paying good money for page after page of advertisements.

If EGM has indeed seen/experienced the gameplay from both titles and stated that they're identical, then I would be interested to see empirical evidence of such. Otherwise I'm forced to continue to believe that you're just spinning a yarn to help you troll.

Then you're not in a good position to argue with me about this. They had more info on the game than has probably been released so far, so that's how I know what I know.

And Comet I couldn't care less if you or someone else think that I'm trolling. If someone released a game on ps3/360 with black and white I'd say the same thing. I was just presenting my side though, you can take it in whatever way that makes you feel good.

You're the one who's not in good position. You have twice referred to some statement from an article that possibly only exists in your head. Splatterhouse gameplay has not yet been shown. Show me something to prove otherwise because I get the sneaking suspicion that you're full of crap.

That cover doesn't say anything about gameplay, so I don't know how you got the impression that the gameplay is the same as Mad World from just that. Also, that issue is six months old, and I'm willing to wager the shirt off my back that all they had to go on then was screenshots. To answer your question, yes I do think you are dreaming stuff up.

Protip: You have to READ the magazine. If you refuse to do so and call me a liar, you're doing nothing but showing your ignorance. Since scans aren't allowed to be linked, you're gonna have to find it on your own.

And no they didn't just show screens. Have you ever read a game magazine before? The cover story is usually a 6-10 page article. It would be kind of pointless to just show 6-10 pages of screenshots.

Have you ever read a gaming article? Most previews are based off of things like screenshots and tech demos. Gameplay shown during a preview is usually not indicative of final gameplay. However, at such an early stage of a game's development, little is shown to journalists besides a few pictures and maybe a demonstration or two.

I never said you needed to scan anything either. Surely this article you keep drumming up mentioned the gameplay somewhere in order to give you the impression that it is somehow identical to Mad World. You can paraphrase the part that gives you a gameplay impression if you like.

If you don't like being called a liar, prove yourself right instead of throwing a hissy fit. You asked to be proven wrong, but you can't even manage to provide a shred of evidence to prove yourself right.

This is the article our troll friend is talking about:
http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?pager.offset=1&cId=3167987&p=4

It's actually not completely invalid to compare this to MadWorld, but at the same time, you may as well compare MadWorld to God of War. The only similarities the two games share is that they're violent action games with interactive environments.
MadWorld we KNOW has a huge focus on those environments...the gameplay revolves around them! The EGM preview makes it seem like the environments in Splatterhouse are just sort of there for the fun of it and don't really add anything to the gameplay (which I'm not saying is a bad thing).

You could also go back and play Mark of Kri and God Hand to understand what you're getting, gameplay wise.
The EGM preview makes it seem like Splatterhouse will play similar to the developer's previous games and Platinum has come right out and said that MadWorld will play similar to God Hand (yay!).
Given that, history suggests that though they're both violent beat 'em ups, they're going to be otherwise COMPLETELY different.

At any rate, you look stupid trying to pretend you weren't trolling the Wii again, tmac.

You really are as much fun as a barrel of monkeys. Samfish provided the article that you were unable to provide. In doing so, he also proved you wrong. That's probably why you were so reluctant to post the article, because you knew you were full of it. His post proves that you were using hyperbole in order to be sensational. That sounds like something a troll does.

The games are similar, which as stated by Samfish, is to be expected from games that are within the same genre. However they are by no stretch of the imagination "identical" as you claimed. You asked for somebody to disprove your assertion that Splatterhouse is identical to Mad World, and it has been done.

I don't understand why you are gloating in your defeat, but I do find it amusing.

I didn't provide it because I didn't know about it. If I did rest assured I would have posted it, because it would have saved hearing a lot of your ignorance.

They're similar enough to be almost identical. If you play one extremely violent and gory action/brawler game do you really need to play another? Unless one of these games are going to have some stellar story that no one knows about yet or something.

Anyway I'm done responding to you. There's only so much blind ignorance I can take from 1 person.

Well, why should I play both Madworld and this then? As I said before, is there some fascinating story I'm missing? Cause I get the feeling neither will have a memorable one.

The art styles? Neither are impressive to me.

So that leaves gameplay. Ultra violent gameplay that will likely get repetitive near the end. What reason is there to play both?

If you REALLY can't see the difference in the ACTUAL gameplay mechanics, not just it's presentation, then there is no hope for you.
Dude, I don't know what else to tell you! You're saying the equivalent of, "I've had a hamburger at Wendys, so why should I bother eating the 100% angus all beef burger at this fancy restaurant?"

Now I just have to decide which games to get. This is going to be tough!

No, that's Lightning, not Vanilla.

- Lightning is the main character and Cloud-look-alike with a sword that changes into a gun,

- Wolva-Daia Vanilla (yes, that's her name) is the red head with pig-tales,

- and Snow is the dick with a beanie.

Ya, cloud is better than those names because when cloud was used as a name it was somewhat original and new. Now they're just rehashing. I'm guessing they just opened up a drawer at the office and whatever words popped out at them amidst the flyers and memos is what they went with.
