Video: Gears of War 2 grenade tags and melees ... through walls?
53
Here's a video that'll cause even more "give us a darn Gears 2 game patch Epic!" demands, one that shows off a newly found multiplayer game bug that just shouldn't have made it through play testing.
Seemingly, anywhere a wall can be accessed from both sides, players are able to not only melee another player through the wall, but also stick them with a grenade. We're pointing this out because it's actually a BIG and annoying bug rather then a user exploit or glitch. It's in the game and just shouldn't be. Please, "give us a darn Gears 2 patch Epic!"

So this could be used effectively if you players could see through walls.
An annoying glitch for sure, but instead of trying to melee every wall and grenade tag them, I'll think I spend my time making sure I don't get SHOT.

HAHAHA good one "shot" HAHA, you're so funny.
Everyone knows if it aint a grenade or chainsaw it aint a kill in gears 2, that's the only way to gain kills as they nerfed every other weapon/reduced how many maps it's on so much that it's almost non-existent.
Unless you count those shitty heavy weapons.

@Jesse
The difference is that the shotgun requires some actual aiming, some cordination. The chainsaw is basically a melee that kills instantly. The closes thing to a chainsaw is grenade tagging, but even then the victim has a chance to kill you before he explodes, and the person with the grenades only has 1 or 2, while you can chainsaw an entire team without much effort.

@ Sadistic....
first of all, your completely wrong ha.....
if you played enough, you would know that you could easily take down a chainsawing noob with the hammerburst, and the two piece is way more effective than anything else in the game....yah, you still get cheated about 30% of the time, but for the most part, i've learned to cope with how the game works....and everyone needs to quit their bitching....
It's has a completely different multiplayer gameplay than gears one....get over it, you were all hoping it wouldn't be gears 1.5, and then you complain when it gets changed...
There is a decent amount of things that need to be changed, but you can easily counter the noobs with their chainsawing and lancering....trust me, take out the hammerburst for a little while, get used to it....and you won't get owned.....
Adaptation.....
(epic, just fix the inconsitancy, and you have a great game)

Does anyone remember those times when videogames were made properly, and didn't just sell because of a previous games success or a multi-million dollar marketing campaign?
Or the point in time where releasing a broken game was turned acceptable because "at some point in time" a patch will be made.

Oh god, another person talking like they know about the QA process.
These guys ARE competent testers, you really think game testing just involves some person off the street who just plays a lot of video games?
These guys play the game for a "living". They look at game differently when testing than actually playing it. They work through certain test cases and for sure this slipped through, but in all seriousness, this is one of those "why didn't I think of that moment!"
For the seriousness of this bug, look at how long it actually took for someone to discover this. One of the most popular XBL games and took nearly a FULL month after it's release to find a bug of severity?

well they obviously aren't doing their job, so don't speak down to me about it, and if these people aren't able to discover bugs of this caliber then Epic should have planned a public or private beta program to address these issues with actual future consumers of the game playing it, but having even a beta at this polish level would sell less games for them.

Takes me back to the splash damage floors in early versions of Quake 3 :) I actually hated when that was patched out, although RA3 kept it in thank goodness.

This (along with multiple other reasons) is why Gear 2 has dropped to the number 4 spot in xbox live. Sad...

it's becoming pretty evident from all these glitches, exploits, and bugs, that Epic didn't play test this game at all, they just made it, marketed it, and hit us with it, cuz they knew we were dumb enough to buy it no questions asked
this game is unbearably bad, and its mainly because of these oversights

I agree... even with all the bugs, matchmaking issues, and in game lag problems I just can't stop playing it.
Even with it being this broken, it's STILL my favourite game of all time!

Like....? The story is even more shit-tastic than Gears 1, the multiplayer suffers from numerous other glitches aside from this (which have been mentioned on this site, I'll assume I don't have to point them out), and aside from the actual playing of multiplayer, the "overhauled" party system is terrible.
The only redeeming thing in this game IMO is Horde mode.

Hmm, maybe all of the swearing and yelling that occurs while I play this game is well warranted.
My biggest complaints come from the shotgun. I swear there are time people pick me off with it like it's a sniper rifle. 55% of my deaths are via shotgun, yet 5% of my kills are with it.

This is bad, but I played for 2 and a half hours last night and I only had one game ... one damn game ... where someone on my team or the other team didn't try to cheat. And even then, I might be wrong about that one game because I didn't see everyone at every second.
The shield glitch is everywhere, but that one I don't mind because the people who do it are stupid - draw them out in the open and lancer them or handgun them. Problem solved. The ones that get me are the super-speed running and kung-fu flipping out of maps. Plus the stand-by lag glitching gets out of hand. People lag the system out to try and get thier cheats to work and even if they can't get thier switch working it still bogs everything down.
It's laughable how bad it is. At least in the first one, after the patches, the only real glitch you had to deal with on a regular basis was Kung-Fu flipping and to counter that you just had to pick the right maps (or flip yourself, but I hate having to do that)
They just need to patch this quick. I really hope they read the sites and hear everyone complaining. I'd rather have no cheating instead of faster match-making or new maps. They seem to have thier priorities screwed up.

Of course some crap is going to be missed when you only have so much time and resources to test for bugs. Simply put significantly more hours have gone into playing Gears once it hit the public than could have ever been reasonably put into testing the game. Just wait for the patch and stop whining or accusing Epic of rushing the game.

when going against Halo and C.O.D. you can't 'miss crap' it hurt them too bad, it's all downhill for 09, btw Halo: ODST releases 09, so GoW 2 is dead in the water.

some people are saying it probably wont matter because you will have to see the guy through the wall but have you considered the new NXE party chat? pretty much everyone uses that now and i can see this bug being abused cause of that.

I haven't run into this by any opponents yet.
I play a lot of territories though and that usually involves lots of shotgun and chainsaw kills....and boomshot kills and torque bow kills and etc.
I have seen the shield glitch a couple of times, but nothing that would make me stop playing.
I love the territory and guardian multi-player modes on this new system. Warzone and Execution can suck my nuts though. Dying by a cheater and sitting there waiting for the next round will make your blood boil. In territory matches, if you die, you get to respawn and try again. I usually finish with twice as many kills as death now that I have gotten used to some of the changes.

First off don't blame the testers. As an ex tester (not video games but still) we would find all sorts of bugs and would report them. Certain bugs however are just ignored by upper management simply to make a dead line. Oh and the whole, "just release it because we will patch it eventually" is the biggest excuse they would always use.

This is bad, but at least it isn't as bad as Call of Duty: World at War. You can walk under the ground, kill people above the ground and they can't kill you. But both games need a patch.

Would be nice if the CoD:WW map exploits were fixed. I think making the patch is the easy part; pushing it through the MS certification process is not. Blame MS. And Epic. And Treyarch. And Bush. And Blagojevich.

just to make sure i dont own 360 i only plaved the first one im ps3 user
for such a succesful game that i can say is brilliant has so many issues..why does a million saler game and with microsft having money in the bank have issues with what:
10 frekin players in one map
waitin 20 min for a game
glitches,bugs
the thing i hate is that the company ripped off you customers
and u know what i hate this game is so praised and give a high score when u have issues
in the ps3 side just to pull out 1 game: resistance 2
how do you have 60 players in one map 8player co-op and no lag at all
yet resistance 2 gets lower score but game sites never baise their scores on reliability
they should take off major points for having an unfuctional game
