i don't think there will be any blu-ray movies. this one will most likely be Singstar Abba and the spidy reference will be Spiderman: Web of Shadows, not Spiderman 3 Blu-ray (HD-DVD i mean)

Is it true that the PS3 has no backwards compatibility anymore? I was looking on wikipedia and it says neither the 80GB or 160 GB models can play ps2 games. What about ps1 games? I can't really find any info on that. I want to get rid of my ps2, but not my ps2 games. Sounds like i might be out of luck. I want to get a ps3 after christmas, mainly as a blue ray player, but I would love to be able to play FFVII without having to hook up my ps2 anymore.

All PS3s are PS1 compatible.

PS3 doesn't come with PS2 backwards compatibility anymore. Every PS3 ever made has PS1 backwards compatibility. So you can play FF-VII for example perfectly (and you can turn on filtering and stuff to make it look a little better).

Apparently half of my PS1 games won't work very well, though.

Sony fails at backwards compatibility this generation. And Microsoft, too, for that matter.

The corporate point of view: why should they care about the old games you've bought when they have wonderful new ones to sell you!

Yeah, go look around the list of backwards compatible PS1 games and see how many of them have problems. I got to a certain point in Chrono Cross and the game started freezing. I had to quit.

I don't even own a PS3 yet, so none of these deals really move me. There aren't even that many exclusive titles that I'd be so interested in playing -- Resistance, LBP ... God of War 3, someday.

What would move me? A PS3 priced at $299, or $349 with LBP. A free Blu-Ray remote? Meh.

So I snagged the Resistance 2 deal, sitting in my shopping cart, by when I go through the checkout, the "submit order" page shows the full price, not the Gold Box Deal...

Same here, decided to just get it as a gift and no lie 7 minutes after the deal is up all 100% discounts are claimed. Wtf?!? how many were they selling like 5?? Its not that great of a game to be getting without a discount.

It worked fine for me. It shows the price as $79.99 but then lower down there's a discount listed:

"Lightning Deal: -$30.01"

I think it sold out in two minutes. Jeez.

Yeah it worked for me too. I clicked add to cart then I preceded to look on ebay and other sites to compare prices, then I looked at how much the used non-collector's edition was...
then I walked away for 5 minutes...
then I saw the game was sold out...
opened my cart and saw that the price was still $49.95.

I walked away for a minute and they were sold out. I am so bummed out - that was the deal I was hoping for today! Damn work!!!

Yeah, the same thing happened to me. I clicked on the deal as soon as it popped up but by the time I changed the shipping option and confirmed the purchase the deal was 100% claimed and back to the full price of $79.98. So I called Amazon and explained that I had added it to my cart through the Gold Box deal and they readjusted my price back to the $49.98 without any problems. If you went ahead and ordered it, I would suggest giving them a call and saving yourself thirty bucks. After that, you can call GEICO and potentially save 10% on your car insurance. Deals all around!

You have to haul through checkout or you won't get an item as in-demand as that was...
