Square Enix announced today that Dissidia Final Fantasy, which released this week in Japan, will make its way to North America in "mid-year 2009." For those who need a refresher on what this Final Fantasy is all about: it's the PSP-exclusive fighter that has established Final Fantasy characters battling it out like they're in Super Smash Androgyny Brawl.
The title received a 36/40 from Famitsu and the story mode allegedly takes 40 hours -- this is a fighter, right?

lol thats psp for you. The homebrew is decreasing. Until newest and blue ones are delayed Sony might apprehend the disaster they started. Well, not disaster, piracy is the disaster. If they allowed users to create their own applications it would have been way better. Heres to hope for the next psp with that kind of community.

I enjoyed Ehrgeiz at the time, but maybe because it was the only thing of it's like at the time. I think once Smash Bros. came into existence, Square Enix knew they needed to do better if they wanted to try again.

I'll wait until they port(inevietably) this over to the Wii. This game seems like it should really be played in a bigger screen anyways!

I just don't get how Auron could not be on the list. He was clearly the most badass character in FFX. I don't really care about playing as some girly blitz ball player.
Sake-swigging samurai warrior with a foot wide sword or a guy that throws a ball at his opponent for a limit break? Hmmmm.

This is a must buy for me. Hopefully Square Enix will release Birth by Sleep for the PSP in 2009 as well.
